PSA: We're taking a poll.

What is the longest timeskip you are comfortable with?

[] 1 week
[] 2 weeks
[] 1 month
[] 2 months
[] 3 months
[] 6 months
[] Write in (Cannot be longer than 6 months)

[X] 2.5 Weeks
Normally 2 weeks is time enough we start to miss stuff but have some leeway for longer projects help with the periods where Hazõ have nothing urgent to deal with and we are without ideas.

[x] 3 months

Really tempted by "6 months", I'm very eager to get to S-rank, but I have to admit that sounds a bit too long to go without control.

Edit: On second thoughts, YOLO.

[x] 6 months

it's going to take 63 days to hit ES 50 (assuming 4xp per day) so this would let us skip to where we could make progress on the great seal in one more update. I don't think we have anything pressing to do other than that since we have abandoned the scroll hunt for the foreseeable future

Though I'd only be comfortable going that long if we would be grinding the 75% Oro notes. If we grind through all those we would be just under sealing 50

Feels like a good middle ground between "FOOM faster" and "Ritsuo/the world continues to move, but now offscreened"

I would also be comfortable with a 2 month timeskip, or (tentatively) a 3 month skip... but I'm most comfortable with keeping it to just 1 month.

If there's something that comes up due to dice or whatever that really requires our intervention, I'd expect the timeskip to end early. Three months to train up whatever skills are relevant to our big projects so we can make actual progress seems fine. I want to get to some actually meaty things happening.

Question, are we doing the "Oro goes to Arachnid" thing offscreen? IIRC we had something in the previous plans, but the important thing is that the crazy Sannin isn't angry at us/ goes to study the great seal

[X] 2 weeks

While I, too am excited to start getting to some of the Big Plays that just need a little time, I don't love time-skipping. We end up missing a little things; we have a track record of our timeskip plans being not as good, so our base XP suffers for that period; it's easier to grind XP in shorter updates;
Like, I remember the Hokage vote timeskip. Which I thought was a bad idea at the time, and which did end up with our side losing. Plus, if there's a snag, I want a chance to address it sooner. Like, if a path isn't as productive, it's harder to update our SOP accordingly if it just goes sub-optimally until the runtime is up, you know?

After two weeks? Sure, we'll have enough XP to get a few levels in pretty much any skill, and we can say projects progressed in the background. 2-3 months? Anything we didn't notice when it was a little problem ends up being huge.

At the bare minimum, anyone who is voting for a long skip should be aware and accepting of the consequences of a rational fic with good simulation from great QMs.

Edit: for things like traveling to a different land, like with the scroll hunt, I don't think of that as timeskip as much. Actively doing a thing with a set time frame to me feels different than "do a thing until X outcome happens or 6 months passes", you know? And even then, that feels much more at QM pacing, so they could make updates during the journey for us to re-evaluate regularly in a way I don't think we'll get if we're asking for a time-skip.

Can someone help make a list of TODOs and ongoing projects, rough calendar? Things like
  • Condor plot — no strict timeline, likely months but <6mo?
  • Birthdays — E: Upcoming birthdays are Ino's (late September, less than a month from now in-game) and Mari's (end of October, around two months in-game).
  • Roads — ongoing, hopefully moves on its own
  • FOOM stuff — ongoing, doesn't matter much since that's the point of a timeskip
  • Hidan — is going to jump us again, surely
  • Mari's Genjutsu problem — want this ASAP except we don't have a solution
  • ES 50 — 63 days E: assumes Hazō averages 10 XP/day
  • Shrooms' list: Marked for Death: A Rational Naruto Quest
  • Probably thirty other things

Now, I'm perfectly willing to tell them when we're approaching the point when we make the attempt (say, a month out from it)
That works. I expect Shika to say something if he thinks its dangerous when we tell him.
Tbf is Shika says "no, bringing back people/breaking holes between the paths is verboten", that's probably not gonna stop us from wanting to bring back Jiraiya
I'd also expect Shika to suggest safety procedures on how to reduce the risk though. And being taught by Kagome Hazou always loves safety procedures.

Creating a new project/plot thread list because I didn't see one in anyone's signature, please inform me of any I missed (I am sure they will be plentiful). I'll need to go back and check dates later. Not intending to track plot threads that have fully completed, same for projects unless more...
