Gaku and Honoka are the two characters I would flip the table for. If they die, the fate of their killers should make Orochimaru queasy and cause Hidan to question our sanity.

For his birthday, we should commission the Nara to calculate how many civilian lives Gaku has credibly saved (e.g., how much more Uplift has been accomplished because he saved our ass so many times) and get him something representative.

My desired approach for this is bringing it up when we're having another conversation with Cannai as a single bullet point and then proceeding to Noburi once we have a green light. My opinion (maybe wrong!) is that you're putting the cart before the horse by having that much of the plan constitute talking to Toads, albeit indirectly.

I think the as-close-to-optimized-as-possible approach would be something like...
  • Sanity-check with Mari.
  • Tone: genuinely respectful. Trying hard not to make the same mistakes again.
    • Seeking to understand Dog culture/politics as much as anything. (Understanding helps us be a productive member of the pack.)
  • It would be of tremendous value to us, personally, to have a Toad in Dog territory.
    • Explain Noburi's abilities.
  • Would you be open to this?
    • What value would it have for you? What costs?
    • What could we offer to make this attractive?
  • Could the Toad stay with the Pangolins near Dog?
However, that's both long and probably a full scene with Cannai, where you have Noburi stuff and a substantial meeting going on, too, so I think it would kill any chance of QM-had-fun XP.

General Dog and Toad theming would be cool and possibly a draw for Summons. Pulling Arachnids in for architectural consults would be cool, too.

KEI took the approach of having its members contribute to the decoration - we can do that, as well.

Edits made. I think the Uchiha thing isn't a secret? And we can plausibly frame the art as as "long lost relative came home and is proud of his roots".

And… there were fires inside people's bodies, shaped like skeletons only not, and Mummy's and the man's were different colours. And none of it mattered because the man had said Daddy was dead.

The man looked down at her in shock. "That can't be… Look up, child. Let me see your eyes."

He leaned over towards her… and then suddenly the fire in his body flickered and disappeared like a candle flame in the wind. She jumped back as he nearly collapsed on top of her.

Mummy pulled her kunai out of his back.

Satoko blinked, stunned and confused and hurting, and then her eyes stopped burning and everything looked normal again.

"Satoko," Mummy said in a shaky voice, "run to Minamimoto-sensei. Tell him there's an emergency at Hōmura's and he needs to come as fast as he can. Don't say anything to anyone else."

Satoko nodded, still confused, but aware that she'd been given a mission.

"Go!"

This interlude is historical and may not reflect current-day Sasuke's views toward Hazou-the-leaf-nin. In fact, I'd say the evidence suggests that he'd consider putting up busts of honoured Uchiha ancestors to be a step in the right direction for Hazou learning to be a "proper" clan head.

I think it's just safer to avoid the Uchiha thing, especially since the Uchiha are long distant cousins.

The Goketsu should emphasized their achievement, acceptance, and new beginning. And not rely on past history, unless it concerns a founding member(Jiraiya).

Sanity check shouldn't be used as a catch-all for all dangerous things.

I'm trying to emphasise connections to Leaf here. This is a prominent one. If people really hate it I'll remove it, but otherwise I'm leaving it for Mari-check.

Sounds like a fun plan. What do we think about getting Arachnids to contribute design ideas? The Orbalorium(?), the Arachnid capital is apparently a marvel.
 
I'd personally be down to spend a FATE point to Declare that we've actually been soliciting suggestions/feedback on compound plans for a fair while and Hazo is now implementing them.

We could put it offscreen and deal with preparatory meeting off-screen, so that we can directly go for the Scroll Hunt the next update. Personally i feel the Scroll Hunt was delayed so many times i want to put something on it now, before the momentum shift and some other Kaijus hits.

I remembered something!
You i think we have a way to get chakra metal.
Is long suspected that in the swamp of "not so deathly nowadays but still quite dangerous" have chakra metal on its centers that probably became a core of a golem.
Well golems are dangerous and all but we could use dog summons to heard them into a skyslicer. And havest his magic ninja gold cores.
Hazõ will get a new pair of gauntles baby.

It doesn't really feel right and there are much better way to emphasize our connection to Leaf than blood. The Goketsu is explicitly is a found family. Take advantage of that.

And don't forget to incorproate fish gutters into the design of the compound.

Scratch that. It isn't so much of a compound as it is a district.
 
Gotta say, I really don't want to leave Leaf again so soon and ditch Harumitsu again.

I feel like we should finish our time with him before we leave for what may be months.

From an engineering/project management perspective, the redesign should wait until the teams are ready, and even then it required the teams to work together so that the sewer won't contaminate the aqueduct system.

Otherwise, if you redesign the estate before the tech are ready for implementation, what will end up happening is that you will need to tear up the Goketsu estate and redo it, and that will be more expensive.

Also, don't forget the gutters for fishes. Basically, they showcase the engineering talent of the Goketsu, and it's very nice to see fishes swimming in transparent water right next to the street.

Somehow I don't think that'd be a huge problem with Noburi.

Still, he's pro-civilian rights and pro-Uplift. He's dealt with KEI in good faith, and genuinely believes in the ideals of the Goketsu Clan. Yuma genuinely wants to serve his community in the only way that he's able to (chakra beast hunting).

I suppose that emotional immaturity is something he can be made to grow out of. Kei's already taught him a little bit of respect, just have Akane beat some sense into him during training.

Not an entirely hopeless cause. Just needs to grow up a little. I look forward to when he says something... impolite in front of Mari. It's bound to be a show :p

He's a hotblooded teenager, and a natural true believer in uplift. He's the sort of guy who'd be trying to do what we do even if we didn't exist, but he'd be a lone ninja with few resources trying to make a difference with what little he has. Maybe even the sort to get in over his head and make some enemies about it because, well, hotblooded teenager.

Given some time and experience, he'll grow from hotblooded teenager to passionate adult, a believer of Uplift who really gets it, who thinks it's as self-evident as the fact that water flows downhill. We just need to give him room to grow and the tools needed to survive that long.

Yeaaaaaah. I'm pretty set on the scroll hunt being our next big outing, but after being reminded of Harumitsu I'm feeling like we should take some IC time on the homefront.
