I'm okay with routing in Nagi Island on our way back from O'Uzu, assuming we have a plan for what to do there (could be as simple as 'approach the Mist-controlled area, meet with the relevant authority and find out what is and isn't allowed'), but we'll probably need to find some way to clear it with Asuma. Going to 'the middle of nowhere' O'Uzu isn't super relevant to his interests until we get that rift open again, but visiting the site of the Battle of the Gods and doing diplomacy with Mist-nin very likely does.

And also: if it's good enough for Ino it's good enough for me. If she's confident enough in peace to host that shopping spree, we can be confident enough in it to go on our field trip. There's nothing holding us back now.
 
Dragon war, just say that you want look for clues on Ozu's because you suspect that that the ritual interruption may have caused the dragon outbreak.

  • Do as Noburi suggests, and relax.
  • Maybe you should stop by the academy? The kids love getting visitors, and Hagoromo hasn't accused you of corrupting the youth enough recently.
  • GM a game for the whole class at once, letting them control a single character by voting on a plan. It'll be total chaos, but it'll be fun total chaos, and you can make them think about how best to plan and make decisions as a group.

Note: The "let's take tomorrow off" thing was to account for the fact that in chapter 516 Hazō took the day off and went on a date with Akane to Tanzaku Gai. Y'all should be voting for what to do the day after that. Chapter 515 (the ritual) was on April 17, chapter 516 (the date) was on April 18, and you should be voting for what to do starting the morning of April 19.

Are we bringing Noburi to Ouzu and Nagi again? If not yeah we ought to see about him learning some chakra moulding academy exercises. Could hand over our therapy genjutsu ideas for Mari as well since I expect to be gone for a couple weeks.

FOOM XP for Chapter 517

Base XP: 1

Akane: 60 Resolve -> 1.8 * 1 = 1.8 FOOM XP
Hazo: 44 Resolve -> 1.3 Reduced by 0.4 due to 4 SC reading Sealing Notes -> 0.9 * 1 = 0.9 FOOM XP + 16 Sealing XP (Already granted)
Kei: 60 Resolve -> 1.8 Reduced by 0.4 due to Snowflake -> 1.4 * 1 = 1.4 FOOM XP

I think we should be at 2 Sealing XP, not 0. We had 24, then 4x read twice -> 24 + 16 + 16 = 56. We then bought Sealing 27 which is 54 XP.
 
We spent a bunch of XP on calligraphy in order to finish MARS. I think it is worth finishing before heading out to O'uzu and maybe Nagi. The personal combat prowess of each Goketsu will increase by several shifts, increasing our chance of survival if we run into enemies on this trip.
MARS passed with a 35 callig check, which means that the sealing TN has to be less than or equal to 35 * (3/2) = 52.5 ==> 52.

On the second research period Hazō was just about to infuse his prototype seal when he noticed a faint smudge that almost certainly would have caused a failure. It left him shaking so badly that he had to wait two hours before he felt calm enough to draw another blank. He didn't wait quite long enough because the thought of how close he had come was still rattling around in his head and almost caused him to blow the infusion. Fortunately, he caught it at the last minute and it worked.

Which means that our sealing TN is more than 49 and less than 52.5, i.e. it is either 50, 51, or 52.

We rolled a 55 on both sealing attempts, which means that we made 1 to 2 shifts of progress on each roll

In this coming sealing attempt, we will have:
22 (SSA) + 26 (Former Sealing score) + 3 (Leveled Sealing) + 10 (Former prep days) + 2 (New prep day) + 6? (Kagome's assistance) + 6 (Invoke Kagome Certified Research Facility) = 75

This means that in the most conservative scenario, TN 52, we previously made 2 total shifts of progress, and this new roll would make 7 more shifts of progress, the equivalent of 7 weeks of research at our previous pace.

The least conservative scenario, TN 50, would mean we previously made 4 total shifts of progress and this new roll would make 9 more shifts of progress, the equivalent of 4-5 weeks of research at our previous pace.

All of this to say that this new roll would likely finish MARS, which was stated to be "several weeks" away from completion.

Can you perhaps pitch this as 'many Goketsu, civilian and ninja'?

A reference to the previous mental health initiative we undertook, group grief sessions, might not go amiss. Hazo attended a few (or at least intimated that he would) and I think that means that it's likely that other estate ninja (core Goketsu?) would have gone.

I don't love the phrasing here. I'd rather ask her whether she thinks it's possible and what approaches to take. I'd also like to motivate the ask - that helps her help us.

Getting SC for two Goketsu seems significantly harder than getting it for just one. Is there a reason we want Kagome to have SC, given that he likely won't FOOM/we won't get his sheet?

I think that Yuno would be a much more compelling case than Kagome, anyway. If she has the reserves for it, then her combat abilities are quite possibly doubled, given that her fighting style doesn't (particularly) rely on spending chakra. Two Yuno is at least twice as good as one...although I suppose only one would have a sweet axe with special grooves for the blood.

...can we get SC for Satsuko?

Suggestion: Ask around to see if anyone has any input for
1) search and rescue in a potentially hostile and hazardous location without chakra (maybe even civvies can help)
2) constructing a quick landmark that is easily visible from a long distance (and possibly at night, like the tied paper lanterns suggestion in discord) in the same location.

By the time Hazō reached the fourth stanza, dedicated to the beauty of Akane's toenails, she was so moved that her face was buried in her hands, and her shoulders were shaking with what could only be suppressed sobs of joy.
