Current version of the Dungeon Crawl Plan. Any thoughts?
[x] Action Plan: Dogs and Dungeon Crawling
Words: 223
  • Off Screen
    • With Asuma's approval and input, arrange heavy escort mission for new Koi expert ASAP
    • Complete Chakdar seal before departing.
  • Enable Dungeon Crawl, with Candoru scouting ahead along the way
  • Throughout the mission and combat,Noburi employs mass chakra drain as necessary, so we can all keep using Summons/Shadow Clones
    • Approach the mine cautiously
    • Summon remaining Combat Summons and Shadow Clones before we get there
      • Ask Summons if they sense any threats
      • Have Candour scout out the land around the mine
      • Whenever possible, use Shadow Clones and Summons in combat
    • Clear the land around the mine
      • If Candoru isn't challenged by this, use Summons/Shadow Clones to direct beasts towards him, specifically
    • Have Candoru do the exploration of the mine by himself, scouting ahead as much as possible.
      • Once Candoru gives up/the summons get impatient, send in the remaining summons to help.
        • We're trying to get Candoru to admit he needs help.
    • Once clear/summons need help, maintain vigilance (ninjas and summons both) and cautiously enter the mine.
  • If we enter combat alongside summons
    • Avoid explosive seals due to possibility of cave-in/friendly fire.
  • Once inside, ensure that Purifier and Tunneler's Friend seals are always equipped, and a line of substitution targets all the way out.
  • After combat, move salvageable lumber to a reasonably secure location near the mine.

Can we not celebrate Noburi's birthday off-screen before leaving? I don't want to get into this weird situation where we celebrate his birthday at the iron mine.

Edit: To be clear, I want to do the celebration, even if off-screen.

EJ said he wanted to keep things that are off screened to a minimum (he said that he could do the sealwork and the birthday, but that he'd probably cut it off there). And it was mentioned that we really do need to address the Koi ASAP, so I swapped the two. I figure we can do what we're doing with Hazou's birthday (have a flashback interlude down the road), or just have a slightly delayed celebration.

Edit: just saw your edit, lol. Give I'll ping @eaglejarl and ask if he'd be okay with squeezing it in. @eaglejarl, are you okay if I squeeze it in, if I specify that it'll be addressed/written later on in a flashback omake/interlude?

I'm gonna really hope it's the former and not the latter.

*Shrug*
I'm a little indifferent about birthdays as a whole. I've never really celebrated them, so I don't really value them very much, aside from whatever legal milestones I reach. I will admit, however, that we've had some heartfelt character interactions with the birthday updates.

Edit: that said, if EJ is okay with me adding it as an off screen thing to be written later, I'll add it.

Edit2: found a wild Candoru, I'll post the picture later today.

Ya I just saw eagles first post that said by noon tomorrow but it was early Saturday morning so I thought I had until Sunday noon. Late again o well

Since it's getting late and there's no response from Lailoken, I took out the part about the purifier seals and edited the bit about the mine engineers for clarification (basically we're trying to get data on how best to clear it out without collapsing it). Current plan is down below, if anyone has any suggestions for content or word choice, I'd love to hear from you! ^.^

For what feels like a thousand years and appears to be the next, my other obligations are going to render my participation occasional.

I think the engineers are supposed to help keep us from blowing up an important wall by accident and I'm not sure about the purifer seal. @Lailoken?

My understanding is that a purifier or tunneler's friend are basically storage seal variants which store gas. Break then and they should dispose of the contents in the same sudden manner.

Removed the bit about the jacket. Wouldn't want to ruin a perfectly fashionable coat, Noburi's got more sense than that --especially if he thinks Yuno might like it.

One wonders what the profit would be if it suddenly became fashionable, especially considering just how many could be created from a single megalodon and just how difficult it would be for a non-Wakahisa to procure one. Perhaps Nobby, Neji, and Yuno can bond on a fishing trip.

Note that the size-large implosion seals actually cause more damage than a normal explosive tag.

With brittle materials the issue is more peak force than total energy.

Hinata is her own person, she never showed us any animosity just because we are 'Goketsu'. Noburi even mentioned that she came to a off screen gaming night

Heck, she downright gave Noburi a gift. She could have made a remotely plausible attack on his manhood which would have stuck forever, but instead declared an obviously exaggerated-for-rhetoric absurdity that he was inferior to an entire metropolis of tens of thousands. She didn't actually need to be that kind and could have taken the chance to breed worldwide rumors.

That's generally true, except in the Air Dome sealing failure a while back Hazou and Kagome seemed to disagree about whether the air was actually going into the seal and coming back out or just being filtered in-place.

End effect is that the air is essentially undisturbed except for the removal of contaminants.

A project I've been hoping to set into motion for a long long time now is purifiers geared to extract things like salt from water or iron from ore. If it works we could just sweep the purifier over an ore vein and extract 100% pure iron with barely any effort.

I would settle for something which could just chew up and absorb a cone of whatever it was pointed at. It could render most of humanity subterranean.

I've also had hopes for a simple storage seal that, rather than holding onto it, merely shunts the matter into the Out, deleting it from reality, and then opening up again to accept new matter. The Disposal Seal would make for easy permanent destruction of evidence, and combined with Force Wall blades could in theory carve extensive tunnels with no need to relocate the rock anywhere else.

It even sounds like a relatively easy seal to make, given that like Macerators it would just be another broken storage seal.

Theoretically, it sounds easy enough. I mean, it's always easier to destroy than to create, right? But I worry that trying to make such a seal would be like tearing a hole in the threads of the Painted World. I worry that, if we open such a hole, it'll naturally grow and grow, deleting more and more of the universe. The Out is almost entirely antithetical towards the Painted World and I wonder if giving it such a foothold would be safe.

We'd basically be creating a black hole with doors, but could we keep the doors shit?

Hanabi isn't a bad point, but Hinata is our age and is the Hyuga Clan Head, regent or no; I don't think she's all that sympathetic.

For figuring out how likely Hinata is to be okay with reforming the Hyuga, we should remember that as clan head she is first and foremost a politician. We can predict her likelihood of enacting reforms based on how many Hyuga elders are left and how influential they are within the clan.

The elders are likely to be the most conservative clan members, so they'll push the hardest against reform. If there are only a handful of elders left after the collapse, then Hinata will likely be free to radically change the Hyuga. If however there are still many elders left or the remaining ones still have a lot of power, we will likely find Hinata unwilling to change the Hyuga much at all.

Edit:
The elders are also the ones most likely to remember any Hyuga who died while trying to genocide the Minami and therefore be more likely to want revenge.

Ami was a far greater dark lord than we could ever hope to be. She was fifty steps ahead of everyone else, so far ahead that – by the time her plans came to fruition – everyone involved had already died.

Our only hope was to throw her off balance by planning no steps ahead.

If anyone has crazy interesting plots or schemes please let me know. I'm going to need them for the Ami meeting

Aaand this is why I keep a list of goals >:3
  • Ruining the Hagoromo, or at least the man himself
  • Coordinating with the Leaf as a whole to wall up (MEW, lumber, mudbrick, etc) as many Fire Country hamlets/towns as possible
    • Would moats also help against wandering chakra beasts?
  • Ami's help with making our future mining town politically tolerable
  • Prove that lower taxes increase productivity, as per this post.
  • Set incentives for Leaf ninja to learn certain jutsu
    • More $$ for noncombat (such as Yamanaka mental stability jutsu and the soil fertilization jutsu)
    • Useful ones: Escape jutsu, Chakra Sense jutsu, MEW, etc
  • Set up a Church of Youth or something similar to redistribute thrown out/wasted food to the clanless/poor
    • Ino or Shikamaru could provide a point of contact to the Akimichi clan head
    • Sealing Scrolls have stasis, could that help keep the food fresh during redistribution?
  • Get Leaf civilians (at least limited) access to the Leaf/Nara Library
    • Hazou got (guarded) access to the non-restricted parts, back when he was a missing nin
    • Hazou, through poetry, knows the enlightenment that can come from learning new things
    • Civilians don't need access to chakra theory and other ninja-related stuff
      • Philosophy, poetry, math, history, etc can provide tools to change a person's life for the better

Random thought. I wonder if there are chakra beasts out there that don't prey on humans, or at least don't specifically prey on humans. Something like Kagome's cat(?), maybe.

Usually places near population centers are kept clear of chakra beasts through extermination missions. Naturally, chakra beasts will then migrate back in to fill the missing niches in the ecosystem that creates, which is why extermination missions have to be done every so often, rather than a one-and-done kind of thing. If there were chakra beasts that were more or less harmless to humans though, letting them run around to prey on other chakra beasts and eat up the food that dangerous chakra beasts require, that could mean that extermination missions don't have to be called in quite as often.

Unfortunately, the most obvious way to get harmless chakra beasts involves Orochimaru. :thonk:

Wouldn't it be easier to just kill a run-of-the-mill chakra beast?
But if we capture/breed non-human-eating chakra beasts, we can introduce them as an invasive species to kill off the human-eating ones. Or just breed them until we have our own flying bison... or saber-toothed pegasus... or, and hear me out with this one, a firebreathing direboar we can ride into combat with. (joking... about the boar, anyway).
