You know, the lava tube is running off, presumably into the sea or something. Once it cools, it will probably solidify into an addition to the island. Volcanic soil is really fertile once plants get a foothold, so eventually the island will be an even more productive source of all these fruits that we want to trade for. Normally that would take a while, but I bet that chakra plants existing probably speeds that process up a bit.

So really, this is all a great opportunity as long as Itachi/Hidan leave enough people in the village to farm it!

Edit:
And in the worst case scenario we could just incentivize some Leaf civilians to settle there.

Turned @Enjou into an action plan.
[X] Action Plan: Going home.
  • Leave a note for Hidan detailing your observations on the Other Side with the unconscious Daizen.
  • Return to Leaf.
    • Note that Hazo is injured; much greater precaution should be taken.
    • Stop at the clan compound first. Talk to Mari and discuss what happened, and what exactly should be told to the Hokage, how it should be approached, etc. Hazou leans towards full disclosure but wants to make sure he isn't going to get the clan executed for treason or something. Note the letter was mentioned, and Haru was present.
    • Report to the Tower, and debrief with Asuma. Follow Mari's advice.
    • Ask if Asuma can get information on the Porcupines' culture and attitudes from Enma, so you can determine the best fit for their summoner amongst the Goketsu.
  • If Keiko is back, go visit her and see how she's doing and how her mission went. Otherwise, just spend a day with your family, and prepare for your trip to Mist.
  • Full disclosure talking points; to be adjusted by Mari:
    • Letter was sent to avert WWIV or affect the outcome for WWIV. If Akatsuki had intervened, Rock's attack wouldn't turn us into swiss cheese.
    • Intel on Hidan and Itachi
    • Possible limited partnership with Akatsuki
    • Intel on the afterlife and portal. "I came back from the afterlife to bring this report to you!"
    • Intel on chakra metal and meteorites location
    • Porcupine scroll acquisition; we're keeping it.

Wait, are we not intending to take Daizen back to Leaf? To give to T&I, I mean. I suppose Orochimaru will almost certainly want to stick some probes in him, also.

We need a messenger, and let not piss off Hidan.

Piss him off? He saw Daizen die, he's not going to be looking for him. I also think it's a bad idea to leave a(nother) angry enemy behind us, I just think a left behind Daizen will be angrier than an ignorant Hidan.

More importantly, to me, is seems like such a colossal waste to throw away this asset. Give him to medical for diagnostics, give him to Hyuugas to see how his chakra system was affected, give him to Kabuto or Oro to see what they can work out about him.
This is the first evidence (other than Rinnegan resurrection) that the dead can be brought back to life, we need to learn as much as we can about how that affects them.

What if he is a mindless zombie now?
What if his chakra system is obliterated?
What if he falls over dead in a week?
What if he cannot be killed?
What if he contracted some viral agent in Otherworld and letting him go is going to infect everyone he comes into contact with?
What if death has left his brain full of all the secrets of the universe, and all we need is a Yamanaka to suck em out of there?

Incredibly bold of you to assume see could do something about it. Unless "increase the body count and offer ourselves to Lord Jashin" is what you were going for?
Well, we can obviously kill Itachi if we really want to and have some time to prepare. Hidan too, maybe.

Let's see... Tunnel Excavation downwards to prevent potential Crow summons from spying on our activity. HLaM towards the shrine. Place an ungodly — and I do mean ungodly, use our entire fucking stock — amount of explosives underneath its entrance. Camp out next to them, underground, with some Air Domes and 5SBs for protection and Tunneler's Friends + Air Purifiers for breathing. Situate one of the other party members behind a covered window in a faraway building with a view towards the shrine's entrance, so they could see the entrance but neither potential Crow summons nor Itachi/Hidan could realistically see them. Once Itachi nears the entrance, the spotter throws a Banshee Fucker into the air, which serves as a signal for Hazou, who activates the explosives. Ideally, everything within 100 meters of us is vaporized, with only a few fractions of a second to react and escape (which won't even be their first impulse, as the attack would appear to be sound-based, coming towards the shrine). Not sure if even Hidan would survive that, barring divine intervention.

(Rule Eight: Any technique which is good enough to defeat us once is good enough to learn for ourselves.)

I'm just saying, it's an option. If we're going to surrender the contact to Asuma anyway, we might as well just kill them now and get another Scroll out of it. That kind of result will definitely not lead to our execution.

Edit:
Yes, yes, there'll be massive amounts of collateral damage. Hidan kills at least three people daily. 100 dead civilians in collateral damage (an overestimate, I think) is equivalent to letting Hidan live for another month. So unless anyone has a plan that kills Hidan with zero causalities in thirty-two days or less, killing him now is the morally superior option.

I'm not too confident he wouldn't survive, and if he does he has our blood so we're as good as dead. Just, ah, keep it in mind that if we do this we're betting the farm.
I'm fairly confident he won't be able to utilize it.

The Akatsuki's abilities seem to be fairly similar to those of their canon counterparts. In canon, Hidan was vulnerable to dismemberment, and his sympathetic magic required a small ritual to become active. If these hold, which seems probable, then we should be safe: the explosion should at least dismember him, and scatter his parts so he can't quickly re-attach them, at which point he will be physically unable to conduct the necessary movements to establish a sympathetic link. We'd then just find his head and chuck it into the ocean or gift to Oro or something.

(Remember Orochimaru inexplicably surviving Hidan's attempt to kill him via sympathetic magic during BotG? A plausible-seeming explanation here is that Hidan didn't actually get to the "kill" part — he licked Oro's blood, was about to conduct the ritual, but was incapacitated before that step.)

If we plan to tell Asuma what happened we should probably return to Leaf late in the night so that Asuma himself is likely asleep and we can simply send a letter with: "Have scroll, tell you tomorrow". Then we can Plan and work with Mari for a few hours, maybe even convince Shikamaru to save our butt.

I am pretty sure that Leaf knows about the meteor, considering the large number of sensor-bloodlines they have, I just hope it's not secret knowledge that gets us killed.

I would rather keep it for political reasons, being a Clan head and summoner is just simply more impressive and more people will listen. Any summoning clan will also respect and like a Clan head more, so maybe we can get more goodies easier.

Also, Hazou needs to go into the OUT again, wonder what secrets we can find that way.

We are not planning to submit the scroll.

It may or may not be fully explored, and its significance may be unrealized.

Next time we do it, without severe consequence, Hazo will die or just refuse to do it.

Do you understand what that means, O Terrorist Far Greater Than Us?
He was one that you feared, Itachi no longer of the Uchiha
What children have you saved, Wellspring of Blood?
Where is your courage, Kin Slayer?
This was the best part of that speech, by the way, Hazou inventing an ostentatious title after an ostentatious title for Itachi to get away with calling him names.

Copied from @Kiba because I think we should take Daizen back to Leaf because of reasons described above.

[X] Action Plan: Kiba's plan but we keep Daizen

    • Bind, gag, and drain Daizen. Bring him back to be studied for afterlife effects

The plans should prob mention who is in the meeting with Mari. Such as say Haru or the rest of goketsu

Why is this detail important? I assume we're all going to debrief together if it's full disclosure.

This was the best part of that speech, by the way, Hazou inventing an ostentatious title after an ostentatious title for Itachi to get away with calling him names.

Kinslayer isn't new. That is what Itachi called himself.

Preliminary votes but I like the general thrust of these for now.
