Are we, like, keeping copies of those sealing notes? Or are apparently screwing over Kagome, who at the moment might not trust Asuma enough to fully expect that he'll have complete access to all the stuff he just diligently translated for our family?

I vote to spend that FP to add a note saying that we also don't turn in seals & seal notes that we've either turned in already (e.g., Macerators) or were promised to other people (the Daisho).
You can save that point. You're not going to turn in anything that's you've promised not to turn in, even though I didn't remember that bit at the time. I've edited the post accordingly.

So if we go by this interpretation it clearly means we should hand over the sealing notes - including the seals themselves.
Which is literally what I wrote, with the carve-out that, as was stated in the plan, you will not be sharing anything that is definitely "game-changing". I feel certain that at some point you or someone else will get salty that we did/didn't include something in the stuff-to-turn-in list that was/wasn't game-changing, but we can nuke that bridge when we get to it.

(This is also why I have a really hard time parsing what makes a good plan. I do not believe you do so intentionally at all, but you really like to poke at minor wording flaws that you, personally, also do and interpret entirely differently when you make them vs when we do. It is problematic to my understanding of how to avoid these mistakes. I notice these things because my PhD advisor does the same thing. It can be amusing to watch him rip into why the wording of something he wrote doesn't make sense a week later without realizing he wrote it.)

Thank you for sharing your concerns.

2) Wouldn't include anything we haven't decoded and determine the content of yet.
I mean...I literally wrote that you would not be turning in anything that wasn't decoded. In fact, here's the quote:

...and you will not turn in things that have not been decoded, since they might be game-changing seals.

[x] No fate point: Make no changes to the seal notes plan

I'm pretty much aligned with faf opinion-wise this voting period, it seems.

What are most of the values in Jiraiya's seals coming from? Can we still win without the vaguely defined "game changing" seals? Why are we keeping those close to our chest?

I've poked my head into the middle of yet another, "The Hivemind screwed up and isolated and totally irrepresentative elements are trying to blame the people donating to all of us completely gratis interactive entertainment", shitstorm, haven't I?

Y'all are so very lucky that I'm not in charge of tracking our Fate Points.

By gamechanging, my thought was "dangerous for other people to have" not "empowers Leaf more than we want it to". So I can't vote for no-change.

First off, thanks for the support.

I wouldn't say that the players screwed up -- or, at least, to the extent that there was a mistake it was only in approach, not essence. Also after some Discord conversation it sounds like I misinterpreted part of the plan; they wrote about trade via Summoner clans, they mentioned Mist, and did not explicitly state that it was only supposed to be Leaf clans and Mist, so I took it as a general international trade proposal. That's definitely a good idea; international trade is a good way to bind countries together and reduce the desirability of war. I don't feel that it would fly under current EN sociopolitical status quo, and I don't think that Hazō is smooth enough to recover from that faux pas. On the other hand -- and this is purely personal opinion without a lot of thought behind it so it might end up causing problems if acted upon -- it could work to develop a network using Gōketsu Summoners, then go to Asuma and say "How can we use this to help you?" Again, I haven't thought about it and after more consideration the QMs might decide that doing that would actually be bad.

So, if there was a mistake then it was mutual -- a mistake in approach by the players and a mistake in my reading of something ambiguous. Still, no major harm some.

Preliminary plan.

[X] Action Plan: Dont Wanna Do This But Do It Right

Check with team. Field suggestions and ideas. Adjust according to feedback. Execute.
  • Precautions:
    • Note ninja, escape routes. Just in case.
  • Scope out the shrine, make a pilgrimage, and gather info.
    • Make an honest pilgrimage, try to genuinely find out the history of the place and all the accompanying minutiae. Go all out, we want to be able to write a book about this.
      • Ask after the Porcupine summoner. You heard they were here? Make it part of questions about local legends.
      • Write down all the answers. Make a mental note of interesting bits of information (with respect to the Porcupine Summoner, the scroll, or Forbidden Lore(TM).
    • Talk to a wide variety of (hopefully) knowledgeable and influential-- monks, religious figures, guards captains, etc. The more info and perspectives you can get the better.
  • Make a note of other pilgrims. Anyone of interest?
  • After the first day, regroup at camp and share information you've found with each other under the usual OPSEC measures (Air Dome, Earth Dome, etc.)
  • Afterhours (If spare time left)
    • Hazo watches big birds. They seem to glide a lot.
    • Hang out at the tavern. Listen to merchants.

@faflec

Change experiment to observational study. Also, hang out at the taverns.

Does this fixes the concerns you have?

It's good to elevate the nonspoken to the spoken every now and then, so

Actually, @eaglejarl deserves our scorn. Writing this quest instead of gracing the world with the splendor of international samba? Despicable. How much joy is being deprived from this world each second those hips aren't shaking? I hope everyone will join me on April 1st in lobbying for another hiatus/system change/qm samba bootcamp. This wrong must be righted!

edit:
Haha! Accidentally left in the first quote and sentence fragment, but maybe it's funnier this way. At first, I was going to play it straight and say glad that EJ still finds writing the quest more fun than learning samba(woo!) almost half a decade in.
Wait, that was an option?! Truly a travesty. Ah well.

Aw, we're overdue for another Turkeyday meltdown. The Hivemind's only worthy opponent is ourselves.

Reminder: There's only six votes for action plans and very little feedback.

Please read plans, post your concerns and critique, and vote. Thank you for your cooperation.

Updated action plan to assuage @Cariyaga 's concern.
