What? Do you think you're some kinda jedi waving your hand around like that? I'm a {REDACTED}; mind tricks don't work on me, only...

...fear of mod inquisition(s).

*Checks master plan*

Could we have them begin the traditional Goketsu courting rituals of engaging in

with the end goal of having them betrothed to one another?

And, now that I'm thinking about it and CCNJ: I am only saying this now because I am now aware of it, not as a way to be petulant since other romances have happened in the quest while my preferred pairing has not. I would like to see this quest continue and the fiasco with the Uchiha was some of the most unwanted impersonal news I've received in quite awhile. I want this quest to continue until it's natural conclusion, whatever that may be, and certainly not to have it end with the mods locking the thread. I really, really hope that by bringing this up now we can avoid another thread lock in the future and I really, really, really hope that by mentioning this now I am not accidentally sparking another one.

With all of that being said and with your stance abundantly clear on staying away from anything remotely triggering another mod inquisition... Would it be prudent to rescind Keiko and Shikamaru's marriage and make them instead retroactively betrothed until they both reach 18 years of age? Or is it the use of the word "seduction" that degenerate shippers (like myself (and only myself (all other shippers in this thread are people of culture))) need to avoid while still allowing younger teenagers to get legally married?

please don't hate me.
Uggh, I'm honestly sick of this romance issue. We should just marry off Noburi and Hazo in political marriages and never discuss it again like Keiko did. The faster Noburi weds his homicidal, yandere stalker the better.
Don't tell me what to do, my hate is unyielding

The main ethical issues with bio-warfare as opposed to conventional warfare are:

1. It's poorly targeted and can easily spread to non-combatants or even your own people.

2. You can't "call it off" if the enemy surrenders or attempts to come to terms or if circumstances otherwise change.

Hey, @Rhodes, what do you think of finding a way to encrypt/code/protect what's in the journal? Because the state of Leaf doesn't exactly encourage security.

Eh, it could introduce cool story bits either way. I vote for...

[x] Plan: Pandora's Box

[...] triggering another mod inquisition [...]

...What... Never mind, I don't want to know, I don't want to waste time and forum/thread space on it, and I don't want to resuscitate the subject. Let's just try to be cautious around that sorta stuff, yeah?

We should just marry off Noburi and Hazo in political marriages[.]

I'd be okay with that (once they get to a certain age), honestly. Mari could probably find someone that Hazou wouldn't hate while also furthering the clan's goals. And who knows? Love --or at least mutual respect/admiration --could bloom from it. A close friendship, maybe.

Edit: thanks @faflec for the heads up, I've changed it accordingly

Well generally that's true but

1) it's more a seconday option with the main points of the plan being the chakra animals and bugs, and the Rock ninja camp is relatively isolated in the same area where the Swamp of Death is. (Also Leaf won't care about civilians in the crossfire as unfortunate as that is)

2) This the same group that triggered the earthquake that destroyed a good portion of their homes, their loved ones, most of the remaining jounin, the tower, etc. I honestly don't believe the council care to call it off no matter how severe it ends up. In fact if the entire camp died in agony it would probably be a positive for most of the clanheads. (Not that I agree with that but they're out for blood)

I'm realizing that I've been too casual and pretty inconsiderate about this issue. Let me clarify:

There is no policy among the QMs about the need to avoid dating.

Statements that I've made on the subject have been personal opinion -- I believe initially I was careful about stating "For myself" or "I would prefer", but at least in the last few posts I wasn't.

Whatever I've said on the subject has in fact been personal preference; it's not something that's been discussed among the QMs and there is definitely no hard-and-fast rule about it.

Beyond that, I've had several people point out to me, all of them in a nice way, that I'm being overly jumpy and it's probably not an issue as long as we're tasteful. So long as everyone keeps their clothes on and hands away from naughty bits and we don't use explicit language, we're probably okay.

So, yes. If you want to sail the SS Hazino, or Hazinatino, or whatever, I give you my personal blessing to try. The other QMs can make their own feelings felt.

I'm not convinced it's necessary. The point of the journal is for Hazou to record emotions and feelings, not so much high value secrets, and it loses its utility if Hazou is unable to conveniently read/write and instead has to sit down to decode it every time he wants to read an entry.

1) While it was mentioned as a secondary option, it is by far the most likely to spiral out of control, since in order for disease to be a useful tool of war it must be allowed to grow to the point where it is uncontrollable.

2) And that's all well and good, except the disease wouldn't stop at the camp. Remember, Diseases don't care about borders. In other words, the disease will not stop at the Rock camp, it will spread and infect both Grass and Fire.

Mongol used Germ warfare. I don't see why it has only bad outcomes for us(bad as in, biowarfare backfired on us and gives us the germs).
The problem is that the Mongols were mobile. They came, sieged the city, took everything they wanted, and left to go to the next city in their path. They didn't really stick around super long after the plague was released, usually.
Also, they already had the plague in their army. That's where they got the dead plague bodies they used. A little extra plague going around probably wasn't seen as much of a problem.

Leaf on the other hand, is stationary. We can't just pick up and go somewhere else once the plague starts killing everyone. And the plague isn't already causing an outbreak in Leaf (I assume), so if an infected Rock ninja walks into Leaf that could cause a problem.

[x] Training Plan: No training

Pangolin XP gets applied automatically. This disambiguates.

[X] Action Plan: Internal Political Sausage-Making
[X] Action plan: Who let the dogs out

Mostly for Dog Scroll reasons. I would like it if we could check with Mari that attempting this won't get us killed though.

I'll also vote for plans that bias Hazou towards Noda, even if the offer isn't made yet. TH is dope.

On the other hand, it would be hilariously entertaining to have Team Clanless become Team Goketsu 2.

@MMKII I like that you're trying to use Jiraiya's spy network. I'll vote for your plan if you develop that section more, because otherwise I feel like it'll get glossed over in an update. I don't really know how to go about this since we can't & shouldn't leave the village right now. Maybe Jiraiya's high level operatives had contacts in Leaf?

Duly noted. Check back in in 20ish hours for edits.

Hazinatinokanekedafumi, you mean?

As usual, @eaglejarl says it first and says it best. However, it's been pointed out that I don't express myself enough on various issues. So.

I'm open to writing romance, doubtless to the shock and horror of the hivemind. Romance, and the inner lives of teenagers, generally have a sexual component. That mostly gets elided since the subject of this quest is murderchildren changing the world through killing, science, and politics, but I think it would be disingenuous to pretend it away completely.

That said, we all have to be sensible. This isn't the kind of quest with explicit sexual content, and this isn't the kind of site where it should be applied to underage teenagers in the first place. On my end, I haven't set a hard policy, but so far most things have been implied (e.g. anything to do with Keiko's personal life), offscreened (e.g. anything to do with Mari's hobbies), or simply briefly acknowledged and thereafter skipped as irrelevant (e.g. anything to do with Hazō and Akane's relationship).

On your end, please follow Eaglejarl's advice above, and don't write plans or suggestions that will get you infracted. Mod dangers aside, it was made clear to us during the threadlock that QMs are responsible for policing their quests, and I really don't want to have to call people out.

With all that in mind, ships are great fun to write and I fully endorse all things romantic (subject to the above), and think the quest would be richer, or at least more entertaining, for their existence.

In fairness, the Black Death is (at least one significant factor in) what killed feudalism and led us out of the Dark Ages.
I'd like to note that calling Europe in the middle ages the dark ages elides a lot of the subtleties of what was going on, both in Europe and elsewhere, and as a result I find tends to downplay the role that eg events like the fall of Constantinople and the flight of byzantine scholars, or the genoese and venetian trade networks, played in that period.

This is why Icky is great. We get to romance her through letters so nothing explicit can happen. Plus she the most fun and appreciates explosives

@MMKII @faflec I'll vote for either of your plans if you take out the part where we imply that Haru gets dispensation to take his very busy clan head out of commission for 1+ days over a sparring session.

Tag me if you do so, so I don't miss it.

To me this is very clearly a joke meant to alleviate tension, and we are not actually promising him a legal right to beat the stuffing out of us should he join.

Is this not clear? Anyone else?
I recognize five out of the six people there, but who's name ends in "fu"?
Fu.

After the last miscommunication fiasco I'd rather not risk jokes in plans. Let's relegate in-character humor to our talented QMs, to omakes, and to memes and jokes during discussion.

Noda: Dealing with debt, nature of Reality, and alcohol.
Are we going to give her more alcohol XOR help her break the habit? Because I'm not sure we want to encourage our new TH. Maybe just remove this bit?

Otherwise sound's good

Fair points all.

[X] Action Plan: Internal Political Sausage-Making (No Dog Scroll)
Wordcount: 278

Run plans by the clan.
  1. Estate
    1. Meet adoption candidates:
      1. Evaluate:
        1. Candidate fit.
        2. Willingness to join.
        3. Scope of issues.
      2. Offer cooperation/improvement in living standards.
        1. Haru: Better employment for Dad, resources, and dispensation to beat the shit out of Hazou during sparring.
        2. Aya: Access to well-read invididuals (e.g Hazou, Shikamaru, Keiko), money, and resources.
        3. Noda: Dealing with debt, nature of Reality, and alcohol.
    2. Continue previous tasks.
      1. Consult Aburame and Inuzuka on chakra beast farming.
  2. Politics
    1. Temporary adoption limit increase:
      1. Reasoning:
        1. Due to Leaf's current scarcity of higher-ranked ninja and destruction of academic institutions, Leaf should temporarily use the ancient means of educating ninja: the clan.
      2. Proposal:
        1. Temporarily increase the clan adoption limit to five ninja per year for three years. Evaluate results.
      3. Execution:
        1. Meet allied clans to find the cost of their support.
        2. Meet hostile clans to find points of agreement.
        3. Submit consensus plan to Asuma.

        4. If otherwise unfeasible, seek non-voting clans that would be amicable towards selling their adoption slots.
    2. Sealing sweatshop conditions
      1. Continue pressure campaign for better sealmaster conditions or working from home
        1. Mention Kagome's reaction to sealing sweatshops to ISC during politicking.
    3. Try to remove pox blankets from plan due to difficulty of controlling pox and Tsunade's likely violent objection.
  3. Kei
    1. Thank her for helping us with our mental state. It helped a lot.
  4. Jiraiya's legacy
    1. Continue drawing from or maintaining Jiraiya's resource caches.
      1. Mention the cache in the Swamp of Death especially, considering the current plan.
    2. Try to reactivate portions of his spy networks with notes that we have.
      1. Reveal a fraction of what we have to drum up support.
  5. Implement Ami's suggestions.
    1. Note feelings and emotions in journal.
    2. Practice daily with Mari on genjutsu.

Assuming you're keeping it, how exactly will we attempt to remove pox blanket from their plan?
