@Roomba I agree it's a bad idea to have any of Team Gōketsu summoning clones when their chakra could be better spent on Pangolins. I think it should really only beFukai Yoshi summoning clones, as she listed the Earth Clone Jutsu as one of her primary skills.

The ability of the clones to soak up damage is the most useful thing here. The riskiest part of every assault will be shortly after the initial breach, we will be having to fight an unknown number of likely unknown nin with likely unknown abilities, all while trying to avoid being taken down by unknown numbers of unknown traps. The risk is actually somewhat compounded by breaching from multiple directions as our "beatsticks" won't be able to support each other as effectively.

Ultimately we have to weigh whether having more chakra available is worth increasing the risk of one of our team members being given moderate consequences or taken out. It might even be a moot point, as there is a nonzero chance our allies won't allow themselves to be drained in the first place.

Agreed, although I personally believe that Goo Bombs are also not something we want to hand out, since being able to roll sealing instead of Taijutsu or weapons is probably really useful, especially if it's a powerful sealmaster's sealing. It makes it possible for genin to contribute meaningfully to battles against high level jonin, or even S rankers if the sealmaster is good enough (probably only S rank for us, since I doubt there's many other S rank sealmasters out there).

Anyway, do we know if Goo Bomb and Banshee seals get erased or destroyed or anything when used? Because otherwise we have to worry about people just picking up our discarded seals after or during a battle, and bringing them home to a sealmaster. One way to counter this is to pick up all used seals after a battle, or we could also attach them to training explosives that are set to go off about a second after the Banshee/Goo Bomb. This would also add a double whammy to Goo Bombs from the explosion.

Re: Goo Bombs.

Hmm. OPSEC is definitely a concern here. I agree we probably shouldn't hand them out. Training tags then.

I'm also pretty sure Goo Bombs aren't effective when used by a melee combatant?

Wouldn't they just, like... coat the melee person? And the only ranged person we have is Kei.

Well, the original thought was that clones would be the ones using goo bombs at melee range. Who cares if a clone gets gooed? That said, for OPSEC concerns alone the clones should only be given training tags.

This. The only exception I would argue is Fukai because of the Earth Clones.

Edit: And given how we're basically discussing using clones as damage soaks I wouldn't bother giving them up, since 9/10 the clone gets popped before it gets a chance to use Goo Bombs.

I don't give a flying fuck about OPSEC as it pertains to our seals except for possibly:

1) Implosion seals
2) PMYF (Hard line on this one, this is a trump card in the tournament and of limited utility in this event)
3)General Macerator stuff (Pangolin Pepper is OK. Maybe Perfumerator if necessary. Fire-log can just be done with explosions. NO Misterators.)

These are tools meant to be used.

If we continually treat them like they are precious Jonin level secrets we will not be able to extract any utility from them. I agree that things like Skywalkers and Skytowers and many of our theoretical bullshit min-max future seal ideas should be kept secret at all cost. Jiraiya has currently said that he is at least begrudgingly okay with us endangering all the seals we currently have in our loadout. This includes everything currently in Hazous inventory.

We should not sacrifice our victory for these paltry secrets.

Edit: But specifically Goo Bombs are most useful in the hands of ranged combatants so we should leverage them this way.

The question is less "do we give them because OPSEC concerns" and more "do we give them because they can't use them effectively". At least from my point of view.

Specifically regarding Goo bombs, yes we should make sure these are only given to ranged combatants. So Keiko is the only one, I think?

Yes. And I would argue Fukai, but ONLY if we have her clones be used as more than simple damage soaks, which requires that we give them additional chakra (beyond simply making them) for chakra boost/jutsu.

See, its a real shame she doesnt have HLaM, because we could have an Earth clone pop up in the middle of a group and immediately Suicide-Goo.

>inb4 Hazou breaks OPSEC again to teach a foreigner HLaM.

Edit: We could ask her if she can do it, actually. Though I will point out that HLaM is expensive, it'll make each clone cost like 30-40CP each.

*shrugs*

I mean, we could do this with Hazous earth clones. Would this be more acceptable?

Its less than half the cost of a Pangolin to do this with one clone, I think. 15+ 22 ?

....what the fuck?

I'm honesting goddamn afraid of starting again from the beginning.

Even the incomplete wiki isn't giving me much. What the fuck happened after we met jiraiya the first time or when we escape with that youth girl?

I reiterate that the cost of making an Earth Clone and also giving it enough chakra to use HLaM will require each clone to cost 30-40CP. Which IMO isn't worth it. Plus the issue of the clone not knowing what's above it without Living Roots or equivalent, which costs even more chakra.

Edit: And the clone needs to succeed in its mission which may or may not require an Athletics check. Or a Stealth Check. And Hazou sucks at Earth Clone, his level 1 means his clones have level 1 Athletics/Stealth.

We broke the setting.

Well, you'll have to read the story to find out, I guess?

Oh yeah @Roomba Maybe make a note that explosives/Firelog macerators can be used to give the Genjutsu user LOS to help take down priority targets (top teams).

Starting a list for Mad-Eye Lottery. I'll select one person randomly for each meaningfully different plan candidate sometime early Friday afternoon. Ping me to be added.

@18scsc and then @Jello_Raptor were chosen via random.org for the Mad-Eye lottery.

A couple things to keep in mind:

Remember kids, FIRST brainstorm individually by the clock to come up with as many ideas as you can. Write them all down as a way to precommit to sharing them. THEN share them, THEN have everyone do another round of brainstorming aimed at modifying or recombining ideas or adding ones that the original ideas inspire. You can in theory repeat this step until nobody has any new ideas to add. FINALLY, get together to collaboratively evaluate how promising each item on the full list of ideas is.

About Goo Bomb and Banshee use, my thinking was that we shouldn't risk Keiko in close combat, and she can't throw things inside the buildings, so melee combatants should have some as well. Also, they give some combat utility to our non-combat people - the aoe on them is pretty big so they have some effect even if you miss.

Everything went better than expected.

Is it sufficient to get enemies, though? Honest question.

Actually... What if we had a regular Goo Bomb and put it inside a metal cone to direct the goo explosion away from us?
"When a storage seal emits something, there needs to be free space for the object to form," Kagome said. "If there isn't enough space, the results vary. If you're very, very lucky then the seal simply doesn't activate. If you're less lucky it eats itself. Even less lucky and something half a dozen yards away eats itself. Things get very quickly worse from there." He raised a hand to stifle Hazou's excited comment. "No, it can't be weaponized. People have tried. After a couple of tries they stopped." He poured himself some tea and took a sip.
*screaming in Kagome*

We should grab rocks to attach the goo bombs seals to and just chuck them into rooms we know have people in via Living Roots.

Who cares if we HIT the people with the rock, the seal is AOE and the rooms are small.
