Next question do we want to prioritize water whip or vampire dew for Noburi?
I like Vampiric Dew/Tac Move. There's lots of interesting things he could do with Vampiric Dew.

e: Particularly if he gets good enough to do it with latent humidity... at that point, he might want to let it get out that he can drain through mist anyway :p

Well just a note if he gets another level in water whip he can chakra boost one more time (which tbh Noburi should never not chakra boost) After that it's cheaper for him to buy another water clone than level water whip. Also he can get syrup trap up pretty high for cheap

Dammit I want him to get Vamp Dew to 40 though!

If you're pissed off enough to stop writing then it makes sense to go out with a bang. And letting there be one more voting period before the bang would seriously increase the effect.

It would be a nice dramatic ending, too. Not as good as the pre-retcon version, though, because MUCH less of a surprise.

I'm passable at Japanese. I know bits and pieces of others, but none well enough to be noteworthy. Are you asking if I can recommend stories in Russian (in which case I'm afraid I can't - I have enough trouble keeping up with the English ones), or in general?
In general. Also, some idea of where you learned your various writing skills would be interesting.

Huh, it just occured to me that Minami might not be defecting.

Even if it's unlikely compared to defection, her actions are consistent with a thought process of:
  • Great. These people, who are clearly strong, think I'm a threat because I know a secret of theirs.
  • I can't kill them because they're the Hokage's clan.
  • They're still killers who would eliminate me as a threat the second I close my eyes.
  • I need to de-escalate, and fast, because there's no way I'll survive this if it gets violent. The best I can do is take some of them down with me.
  • I have to reveal a clan secret of my own, so that we can have parity. A reason for them to not kill me.
Edit: Mind, by my reading of the plan, it should be fine if this is what Minami is doing, since we're also trying to de-escalate as fast as possible.

Under the assumption that we survive the next update, we do need to make sure Kagome is contained/rehabilitated.

For Kagome containment we need to put him in time-out, without taking away his explosive safety blanket. My suggestion is, for the rest of the trip, Kagome should only be allowed to sleep in a separate (albeit nearby) skytower from the rest of the team. One under a separate dome. It'll make keeping a watch and communicating a bit annoying but it's a clear rebuke of his actions, doesn't significantly threaten his safety, and also acts as a signal to Minami that we care about her safety.

Edit: We also have to make sure it's clear that Minami's concerns about a slab on the wrist are addressed. Because Kagome has done bad things, we also should make sure Hazou makes redress to everyone for his part in all of this. (Anyone have ideas on new trump cards we can give Noburi?)

I would keep him in the same tower but strip him of all his seals, paper, and ink. Then always have a double watch going and remove kagome from the rotation

I think it'd be smarter to give Minami a separate set of Skytowers/Air Domes/other defensive seals, because it's blatantly obvious that Kagome won't kill any of us.

Conventional punishment in meaningless here. His one, absolute supergoal is, "Protect my family". Nothing else, not the threat of punishment, not his family telling him no, not even his family hating him is going to matter. The only things which might sink in are, "Your behavior needs to change because it endangered the family in the clearly understandable way", and, only possibly, "If this happens again it won't be your family anymore. We will drive you out and literally kill you if you try to stay."

He needs the reality of the situation explicitly laid out for him. Either he gets it, or he doesn't, and nothing else is going to matter. He gets a struggle session of exactly how he betrayed everyone, exactly how it could have gone wrong, exactly how exactly the same screw-up went wrong when he did it before, exactly how everybody very justifiably feels about it, and if by the end he isn't blubbering and begging not to be exiled we know that he is irredeemable and needs to be left in one of J's safehouses somewhere until everybody can figure out how to deal with him.

You'll never convince him not to overreact to perceived threats, but it's at least possible that he might be convinced that he can't betray the family's trust by deceptively overriding their judgement with his own when he knows that the situation isn't urgent and/or that they disagree.

I originally read that as "have a party."

On the off-chance someone wants to pass secret~ish messages and stuff, install BetterPonyMotes and configure it to display emotes outside of Reddit. Also, send messages with BBCode color="transparent".

I need to get out more.

I think it'd be easier for us to have it split into 'boys' and 'girls' camps, if we do it that way. Safer, more pleasant for all involved, gives a polite fiction for those of the team who don't always prefer blunt truth to fall back on.

So @eaglejarl @OliWhail and @Velorien one more pointless thought about why Mist Drain wasn't a secret at all. Mari has twice been mind scanned after Noburi learned the technique. Now I don't know how in depth these things actually are but if I was Jiraiya I would definitely have my agents try to get as much info on the team's capabilities as possible especially after the hot spring incident when he might have had to kill us. As a second point Akane was in the village for several months and that girl can't hide anything to save her life. Any competent T.I. officer would have sucked every secret she had on the team out of her. So we can probably suspect that any clan secrets we showed to each other are at least known to parts of Leaf if not the village at large.

Edit: I mean we should assume that all of Jiraiya's agents know all of our secrets

The problem is that Minami knows. A random Chunin with no evidence of competence from Kagome's mind.

Oh yeah Kagome could still totally want to murder her. But that's cause Kagome is a crazy paranoid person. Just laying out more reasons on why Hazou might not have considered this to be an OPSEC breach. If it's allready a known secret telling one more person isn't the worst thing

Ah I see, makes sense that way. It's still stupid but it's Hazou stupid.

The first time the team interacted with Jiraiya, they had no Kagome and no noteworthy loadout. I'm not sure which scene you're thinking of.
Indeed, I was chronologically confused here.
It's impossible to conceal the fact that Keiko is the Pangolin Summoner, not only because the skill itself is so conspicuous, but also because that information can be gained by any other summoner via Summon Realm diplomacy/spycraft, and that's not something Keiko can influence.
If "Summon Realm diplomacy/spycraft" means other summoners know who and where summoners are, we have a contradiction because we would not have managed to stay missing-nin, and Jiraiya would not have gotten us a summoning scroll (or would have warned us beforehand), due to its impact on our use as deniable assets. Otherwise, keeping such information on a need-to-know basis still buys us protection. Yes, it's far from perfect protection, but we don't have that with mist drain either: a whole other clan knows the technique better than we do.
Not sure what you mean by this.
My point is that Kagome's acting as he is in a boneheaded attempt to protect us, though from what I still haven't figured out. To him, the difference between "let's share this secret that's exceptionally good at keeping us safe in order to gain favour with Leaf" is not qualitatively different to "let's share this secret that's sort'a-useful for keeping us safe in order to handle our missions as a team more safely". There's obviously a quantitative difference; skywalkers are a billion times bigger, and Leaf has a billion times as many Dumbutts, but there is no difference in kind.
There are far too many theoretical ways for Hazō to copy seals quickly for this information to be useful/damaging on its own. Perhaps he just has a perfect visual memory, or perhaps he can make ink patterns crawl off the page and onto his skin until he releases them onto another piece of paper. Whereas mist draining is a unique ability begging for the design of creative counters (or, as someone's pointed out, for attackers to focus fire on Noburi at the start of a battle).
Perhaps you've forgotten how many times we've directly benefitted from Hazō's seal-copying ability not being known?

If word gets around Leaf that Noburi can drain through mist, fine. All that means is we get to plan better. If someone tries to blackmail us with this information, we're like, "what you gonna' do? Tell other Leaf guys and make no meaningful impact to our lives? Tell Sand and betray the Hokage? Though telling Sand would hurt Mist more than Leaf, which probably balances in our favour anyway." If word gets around Leaf that Hazō can copy seals, we've lost an extremely attractive way of gathering new seals. I mean, that's not even that bad given, you know, Jiraiya, but it certainly actually causes a problem.

And let's say we get attacked by two different teams, both of whom have different pieces of this leaked information. The first knows Noburi's mist drain, so "cleverly" decides to attack him first. Well, good, because Noburi's the currently the person best able to defend himself, and the rest of us should consider "throw 100 seals from the air" to be a better strategy anyway. The other group comes prepared for a guy whose main ability is the ability to copy seals. I'm not sure what best-practice anti-sealing is, but that sounds like a group that actually poses a threat.
