[X] Training Hazou: Hit Don't Get Hit
[X] Training Hazou: Smooth Criminal

[X] Training Noburi: Wh-CHAH!

Smoother criminal actually doesn't work because he needs Presence 7:

[X] Training Noburi: Nobby Are You Okay

Withdraw 1 XP from Med Fund

Manipulation 5 [10/47.5]
Composure 5 [20/47.5]
Presence 7 [34/47.5]

Diplomacy 13 [47/47.5]

Save 0.5 XP

[X] Training Keiko: Sneak Don't Get Hit
[X] Training Keiko: Backstab

In all honesty, I actually like the idea of Hazou teaching Akane 1 level of Sealing regardless. I wouldn't mind Akane teaching Hazou a level of mechanical in return.

But I guess this isn't the time for that (without there being direct story-benefit) so fine with whatever.

[X] Training Noburi: Wh-CHAH!

[X] Training Keiko: Sneak Don't Get Hit

[X] Training Hazou: Hit Don't Get Hit

Doubtful on our ability to actually train this stuff, but let's go for it.

As for Akane,

[X] Training Akane: Trickster Fist

Manipulation 4 - 8 XP
Composure 3 - 14 XP

Deception 7 - 21 XP
Deception 8 - 29 XP

Dexterity 6 - 41 XP

Taijutsu 16 - 57 XP
Stealth 12 - 69 XP

Sealing 1 - 70 XP

We can do a little repair work on her lying skills, give her the sealing crash course just in case, and bump up her combat and stealth a bit in preparation.

How many levels can be trained per unit time?
Depends on the skill. You should assume that no training will be accomplished within the next day or two (which you'll mostly be spending on-task anyway).

Besides lack of money, sure. I don't think we really have all that much available to us right now. @eaglejarl @Velorien how much cash does the team have on hand?
Around 4,000 ryō.

@eaglejarl @Velorien How long does it take for 5 barrier seal to lock an object after it's activated? I assume for one sealer to be able to activate it, some of the seals can be preactivated or activating the middle seal activates the rest? In other words, what order are the seals activated in: central first, supporting first, all at once?
When the central seal activates, it triggers the others immediately, thereby locking the object.

About training plans:

Training something takes a lot of time, meaning that when our team is training, they are not keeping watch on the village or doing whatever else they are supposed to do. I don't see how we could possibly have time to train anything for now.

Also, getting Deception dice on Akane is kinda futile; she won't get good enough to fool anyone in time. The best way to use her sealmistress persona is to keep it out of sight and have Mari or Hazou henge as her when needed. If we want to do some training related to that, the best course of action would be to have Hazou practice mimicking Akane's movement and speech patterns. Both should be pretty easy for Hazou to do.

I don't think we'll have time for a cute scene with Hazou and Akane. This plan is already going to lead to a double update, so adding more scenes to it might not be the best idea.

1) I did implement checking for exotic tracking measures.

Oh sorry, I missed that. In my defense the plan is sprawling all over the place, if you have the time to make it more readable for the QMs they might appreciate it.

As a sidebar, I thought about it and I'm pretty sure that our camp location has been compromised. We have too low Stealth to fool the local ninjas and they know the terrain and have a home field advantage when tracking around the village. Not much we can do about it now though, since they know we are here they can probably suss us out even if we change locations.

We have half a dozen or more people coordinating on each of our plans. I for one think that's commendable.

Yeah, you are right; I should look at it from 'a glass half full' perspective.

I just feel like we have the potential to double or triple the amount of people actively contributing to plans. I believe we could do way bigger and better things with that level of participation for all our plans. It wouldn't even have to be that intense participation, low effort stuff would do just fine. Just an increase in discussion about problems and goals relating to the current plans would do wonders.

I'm just saying, I feel like Hazou is not reaching his full potential currently.

@1234qwerty those are some really interesting ideas, I especially like the acid misterator.

@Twofold I'm not so sure about it being a double-update worth of plan - at worst it seems to call for the sealing lecture, two drug buying scenes, and a Mari/Emiya scene, assuming Kei/Mari don't veto it beyond recognizability. That being said, I take your point about readability.

Mari/Emiya scene is already a big discussion, I feel like that alone could be one update. The drug discussion are also pretty important because we are hoping that something interesting comes up that we can use later. If nothing happens there we are kinda boned and have to hope we get lucky in the next update.

Also, I feel bad every time we vote a long and complicated plan for @Velorien. The poor guy just can't catch a break. :p

That being said, I take your point about readability.

It's just that I thought I read it through carefully but I still missed it. Same could very well happen with the QMs.

It's not like it was another 'heist' incident waiting to happen or anything.

Just noticed this question here:
What benchmarks do we have to hit before we can be considered to be Jonin level?

30 die in your combat power of choice; 20-25 die in Stealth, Tac Move, Social, and Awareness; possibly also 15-25 die in a secondary combat skill.

This is wrong, jounin doesn't need to be anywhere near that good.

We have three samples of jounin we can look at. These numbers are mostly guesswork and I might be recalling wrong but they are close enough for this discussion:

Mari

Stealth 15 18
Awareness 18
Taijutsu 20
TacMov 21
Diplomacy 22+
Deception 25+

Joutaro

Diplomacy 15
Stealth 12
Awareness 19
TacMov 21

Komori

TacMov 21
Taijutsu 25

So what we are looking at here is that you need your specialist skill somewhere around 25 and your basic survival skills related to your specialty around 20 to be considered "jounin level". Stuff not related to your specialization (like Stealth for Joutaro) can be surprisingly low.

There's also Mari's genjutsu at 25+. Additionally, we have a sample of Jiraiya's taijutsu from way back in the day (I think he rolled 1200ish?) which I would think puts a decent lower bound on your secondary or tertiary combat skill as an S-ranker.

E: is Mari really only stealth 15??

What am I, chopped liver? I get long plans too, but does anyone worry about poor eaglejarl? No. No, they do not.

That's because @Velorien has better PR. Polling shows that most of the voters rate your character to be somewhere between 'Needs more spiderbears' and 'There's never enought tapirs', whereas @Velorien consistently floats around 'Take this cuddly pangolin' and 'Here's a best apprentice for you'.

Don't blame me, this is what the polls say and that's just statistics! :D

E: is Mari really only stealth 15??

She rolled 820 when we left VHitM and 719 when we dodged our old fort.

EDIT: But she rolled 1081 back in the Liberator village. So yeah, she probably has more than 15.

Mari has a history of terrible Stealth rolls that looks a lot like some kind of semi-permanent malus caused by a curse or something.

*snif, snif*

I'm so unappreciated. Fine. In my next update I'll give you a summoned Guinea pig so cute it will give you diabetes. And it will have with it the "Sword of Gamebreaking Bogosity" that can cast Becomus Goddus. See if maybe that gets me some better treatment around here. *snif*

Awww, come now. That is what you get for writing too exciting combat scenes that almost get us killed.

Alright, so the long term XP plans in my sig are a bit out of date and in need of an overhaul. The general direction is correct but the details are not quite there yet. The formatting is also atrocious mostly because it started off as something to get my head on straight about what to do our characters long term.

I'll probably relaunch them as a jounin series, imagining what our intrepid genin would look like as budding jounin instead. Here's what I have for Hazou thus far, I'll probably base the builds for other teammates around Hazou's XP total.

Disclaimer: Following XP build probably contains errors.

Hazou - Deceptive Sealmaster Jounin

In this build Hazou specializes in Deception and Sealcraft, trusting his Taijutsu style and choice earth jutsu to tide him over combat scenarios. The build is heavily reliant on Hazou designing amazing seals for problem solving and skill augmentation. Don't expect him to take out armies of ninjas solo, unless he has designed an army killing seal to do it first.

Due to how attributes work, I have divided the build in to three parts: Base, Social, and Sealing. Base has all the basic ninja skills and jutsu Hazou will need and comes as is, but Social and Sealing both have two options to pick from depending on how much XP we want to spend on them.

Base

The base skills are not very impressive, and I expect us to come up with Sealing based solutions to augment most of these skills, like Awareness. Effective Taijutsu 16 means that Hazou will be relying heavily on Roki when he needs to punch people, as intended.

Highlights are Transformation 20 for animal transformation and Substitution 20 for 30 dice TacMove escapes. Effective Weapons 10 is for deploying utility seal tags (PMYF, Misterator)

Utility jutsu will probably be whatever we can get our hands on, most likely something like tunneling, remote sensing, or earth armor.
  • Skills
    • Awareness 21 - 111XP
    • TacMove 20 - 90XP
    • Stealth 15 - 65XP
    • Taijutsu 15 - 15XP
    • Weapons 9 - 42XP
  • Jutsu
    • Transformation 20 - 155XP
    • Substitution 20 - 165XP
    • MEW 10 - 34XP
    • Earth Clone 9 - 22XP
    • Utility Jutsu A 10 - 27.5XP
    • Utility Jutsu B 10 - 27.5XP
  • Attributes
    • Wits 7 - 26XP
    • Res 5 - 18XP
    • Str 4 - 0XP
    • Dex 7 - 26XP
    • Sta 5 - 10XP
    • Cap 15 - 130XP
    • Con 4 - 14XP
    • Reg 10 - 40XP
Total: 1004 XP

Social

Due to how social attributes work, the choice is between Deception 18 and Deception 24. We could pick something in-between but it would give us sub-optimal attribute distribution which would annoy me immensely.
  • Low Social: 251 XP
    • Deception 18 - 93XP
    • Diplomacy 12 - 42XP
    • Roki 9 - 24XP
    • Pre 6 - 22XP
    • Man 9 - 48XP
    • Com 6 - 22XP
  • High Social: 597 XP
    • Deception 24 - 222XP
    • Diplomacy 16 - 100XP
    • Roki 12 - 57XP
    • Pre 8 - 52XP
    • Man 12 - 114XP
    • Com 8 - 52XP
Sealing

Sealing is the thing we apparently want to do, hence we need to get it to at least 20. I have included a second option to raise it to 24, but whether we want to do that immediately or dip into something like Technique Hacking or esoteric jutsu remains to be seen.
  • Low Sealing: 357 XP
    • Sealing 20 - 119XP
    • Int 20 - 238XP
  • High Sealing: 643 XP
    • Sealing 24 - 209XP
    • Int 24 - 418XP
    • Wits 8 - 16XP

Personally, I would aim for High Social, Low Sealing first which would cost us 1958 XP (1004 + 597 + 357).

In practice, things probably won't go this smoothly. Rules will be revised and we will probably find amazing jutsu as the story goes along. This meant more as a snapshot of what jounin Hazou would look like and give us the idea of what are the XP sinks in the build.

Also, this might not be the best way to go about building Hazou. I didn't really explore other options because Deception first sealmaster is the sort of build that I find most interesting from a story perspective. I would happily read about other kinds of builds people come up with.
