Actually, since Kagome is not officially on Jiraiya's roster, all we have to do is tell him, "Hey Kagome, if we don't show up at X location in Y number of days, feel free to launch as many of your special projects on targets that would most likely start WW4 of your choosing as you see fit."
He doesn't join us to talk to Jiraiya, and helps us get away if needs be.
Jiraiya said everyone was supposed to come, and Jiraiya's contact has seen Kagome. We can't reasonably expect to hide him, I think.

Let's talk some more about resources and contingencies:
  • Akane can make some rapidly-deployable traps. Caltrop bags, at the very least.
  • Hazou and Kagome probably can infuse some explosive/implosive tags and draw some more storage scrolls.
  • Noburi should get Control 10. He will need it for MedNin 10 anyway, we might as well buy it early and enjoy benefits of having more chakra.

Some training considerations for Hazou:
  • Sealing 13 costs 49 XP;
  • (effective) Taijutsu 16 costs 27 XP, 17 costs 63 XP. Too damn expensive.
  • Deception 14, Roki 7 costs 68 XP. Only worth it if we really want to level Deception for some reason, Taijutsu benefits from Roki are marginal at best.
  • (effective) Stealth 10 (same as Keiko) costs 9 XP.
  • Awareness 13 costs 23 XP, 14 costs 37 XP, 15 costs 52 XP.
  • MEW 10 costs 34 XP.

Hazou has to get Wits 5 (10CP).
Right, thanks.

@eaglejarl @Velorien does Hazou know about the 1/32 chance to produce sharingan offspring part of the Iron Nerve? Like, did it occasionally crop up in the Kurosawa clan, or is it something special about him in particular that's OOC knowledge?

Also, when Hazou inevitably gets murderized by Jiraiya we absolutely need to make a character with the soulstealer bloodline @MadScientist came up with at the start of the quest, holy balls.

Let's consider intermediate training plan for Hazou:

Intelligence 13 [26]
Wits 5 [36]
Sealing 13 [49]
Stealth 9 (effective 10) [58]

This will get Hazou maximum Sealing points he can currently get, and same Stealth level as Keiko.
After the essentials, we will have enough XP to double Hazou's Capacity (80 XP), or get MEW 10 and some Capacity, or get Awareness, or whatever.

Hazou, basically, needs to level everything.

Finally added a plot summary for the latest chapter on the wiki.

Edit: I must note once again that there is a remarkable lack of effort to contribute to the wiki.

I just now added "WWDTTY?" to the Acronyms page, and links / summaries for chapters 3-5 to the Chapters page. (I was sufficiently aggravated with the Racket GUI library that I circumvented my LeechBlock.)

Reminders of Hazou and Akane training options from last time. Right now I would tend to go for modified versions of these:

[] Training Hazou: Stealth-Capacity Sealing
Wits 5 [10]
Capacity 6 [22]
Capacity 7 [36]
Capacity 8 [52]
Capacity 9 [70]
Intelligence 13 [96]
Sealing 13 [109]
Stealth 9 [118]
Save 32 XP

Could get e.g. effective Stealth 12, Awareness 13, MEW 9, or effective Taij 16.

[] Training Akane: High Capacity Roundup 2.0
Capacity 6 [12]
Capacity 7 [26]
Capacity 8 [42]
Stealth 12 [54]
Diplomacy 6 [60]
MechApt 14 [74]
Awareness 10 [84]
Save 28 XP

E: I could have sworn Akane was at mechapt 14 already, but apparently not. Fixed.

[] Training Hazou: High-Stealth Sealing
Wits 5 [10]
Capacity 6 [22]
Capacity 7 [36]
Capacity 8 [52]
Intelligence 13 [78]
Sealing 13 [91]
Stealth 9 [100]
Stealth 10 [110]
Stealth 11 [121]
Save 2 XP

[] Training Hazou: Stealth-Capacity Sealing

Wits 5 [10]
Capacity 6 [22]
Capacity 7 [36]
Capacity 8 [52]
Capacity 9 [70]
Intelligence 13 [96]
Sealing 13 [109]
Stealth 9 [118]
Save 5 XP

[] Training Hazou: High-Capacity Sealing
Wits 5 [10]
Capacity 6 [22]
Capacity 7 [36]
Capacity 8 [52]
Capacity 9 [70]
Intelligence 13 [96]
Sealing 13 [109]
Save 14 XP [123]

...

[] Training Akane: High Capacity Roundup 2.0
Capacity 6 [12]
Capacity 7 [26]
Capacity 8 [42]
Stealth 12 [54]
Diplomacy 6 [60]
MechApt 15 [75]
Awareness 10 [85]
Save 0 XP

I contributed SOP: long range movement just now. Probably did a terrible job of it, too.

Yay!

I was about to suggest toning down the stealth but then I realized trapmaking depends on stealth.

We should definitely consider making caltrops to slow down anybody who got too close to the team.

Still working that quest rank project.

Interesting statistics to share:

The quest appears to experience constant number of replies and very little in the way of growth.

Not good, but not bad either.

Nobby doesn't necessarily need medicals skills 10/10 right now. Going to 9/9 or 9/8 (from the current 3/6) is already a huge jump in competency. It would be nice if he were able to level medical skills on his own in the future, but unlike sealing we can make use of the skills before level 10 so it is not a must. If we need to improve team Stealth or TacMove we shouldn't let Nobby's medical progression stop us.

I say we try to get Stealth 12 for everyone. It won't make us the gods of border hopping, but it should get us to Rice without an incident and we can jump it up to 15 in the near future.

We can get Stealth 12 and hope the experience of dealing with Jiraiya is sufficient to get him enough XP to make 10/10, maybe? As long as we don't improve anything else on him, anyway.

This is very cool. Thanks for doing it.

I'm confused by the stats, though. We've only been extant since Dec2015 (10 months), but the stats go from 0-11.

I'd be interested to know about churn among players, too. Do you have that data?

Actually they go from 11 to 8, which you will note are the 12th and 9th numbers (Dec and Sept) in a zero-indexed counting scheme, which fits with cycling through 0 right after 11. I assume the stats are just each month so far in order.

I downloaded all the html, so it's in the data, but I will have to go back and extract the name of every author.

Then I have to figure out how to represent player churn before graphing it. I don't think it will be a line graph, more like a bar graph.

Lots of people want Noburi to save for medical 10/10. I'd just like to point out that we will almost certainly get a fair amount of XP from our interactions with Jiraiya before we are able to level med (seeing as Jiraiya is in contact with our potential teacher), so it's almost certainly optimal for us to spend some of Noburi's XP.

I am one of these people, and I want us to buy Control 10 for Noburi now. It is a prerequisite for MedNin 10, and it has immediate benefit of giving Noburi another 30 chakra points. There is literally no point to save XP instead of buying Control 10.

I am much less sure about spending Noburi's remaining XP. Both MedKnow and MedNin are expensive, now Noburi barely has enough to increase both to 10.

So, unless we manage to earn another 160 XP before Noburi has a chance to raise MedKnow/MedNin, we should not spend all Noburi's XP on other things. I am fine with spending 20 XP on non-medical things, but probably not 50 XP.

For 20 XP Noburi can get Stealth 11, or Water Whip 16, or Stealth 10 and Awareness 10.
