Magical Girl Escalation Taylor (Worm/Nanoha)

[X] Back in the Saddle, Part 2 – The storm sewers, of course. There's no telling where in that twisting labyrinth Typhon has holed up. Explore the tunnel system and see if you can find the villainous bio-Tinker's bases. Write-in for whom to bring with you (Samantha is coming by default).
-[X] Write-in: Ask Chevalier if he would agree to accompanying us.
[X] Ready to Rumble – Because of course villains have nothing better to do than cause trouble. Tensions between the Winter Hill gang and MS-13 are coming to a boil yet again, and the Protectorate is keeping a watchful eye on the situation. Be ready to jump in if a fight breaks out.
-[X] Send Dragon an email (PS ensuring the delivery is secure) letting her know we've got a way to power the radio. We're too busy to do anything about it right now, and she wanted to be informed before we contacted them again anyways. Request she have a first contact/Endbringer info package ready to transmit when we contact her in a week or so. Have PS include some basic info about the group we'll be contacting so Dragon can focus on the most relevant stuff for her message.

While MM can create not only guns, she still as squishy as normal human. Chevalier at least has armor.

-[X] Consider examining the known or suspected entrances that were used by the Beasts in the past, to identify their traces if those are detected with Wide Area Search. See if it's possible to use it to narrow down the search parameters. We do not want to to be surprised by a Beast laying in wait.
-[X]In any case, arrange a comm line with the Protectorate to report your progress and/or findings. We do not want the repeat of impromptu hacking of the Legend's computer.

The Militia OR OTHER subvote I'm hoping will work here, as the point is that we're offering it to the contact we know best and had worked previously with on the Beast issue, and leaving it to her to know which Protectorate cape is better for sewer search. With her military vibe she should have an idea of urban search-and-destroy tactics right >_>?

Bandwagons gonna wagon, and not sure how to justify it IC...
But if we do Ready to Rumble first, @Silently Watches would Cailleach be a valid option for Back in the Saddle? I mean she did fight beasts with us at the party... maybe she wants to avenge a ruined night out? :V Otherwise I guess we hope for a calm spot to do a hang-out...

Dude with Scion's Stilling Golden Fuck-off beam killed them all, put Bonesaw into PRT therapy.
I know that, but when did that happen?
Did they die some years ago or did they die just recently?
If the former is true then Cherish may still be out there being hunted by her father and if the S9 bit the dust long enough ago then they could have not gotten Burnscar when she went on her rampage.
Damsel of distress joined after BB so she's still out there but she was originally recruited to bolster their numbers and doesn't present that much danger.
I am just asking.

And about the nine. What happened with Burnscar and Cherish? Where they with the S9 when they dided or are they alive?
Since they joined the S9 recently.
Burnscar's been with them for a while, I think. Cherish… Hmm. Why not? She's still out there, somewhere.
@Silently Watches Is the Adepts' teleporter called Planeswalker or Pathfinder? I've seen you call him both.
Hm. I'd guess that Planeswalker is the likely correct name, since Epoch uses it in Maskless 6.6.
*bangs head on table*
Planeswalker. I don't know where Pathfinder came from.

That would be kind of hard to swing, but maybe?

"Ow. That... didn't end well. Sextant, scan the wreckage and tell me what went wrong."
"Scanning. Analysis complete, Master. The storage remains exhibit anomalous heat readings."
I don't think a Storage Device can actually talk...

Sextant is just a Storage Device, pretty sure you need the next level up in device complexity before the devices can talk back...
  • Advanced Device (5 points) – Build Intelligent, Armed, and Boost Devices that advise and support their mages in addition to assisting spellcasting.

Chrono's S2U was a Storage Device, and it could talk some, most confirmation and status updates and such. They just don't do independent thinking.

So, given Silently's updates on methods to shorten the waiting time for making new templates, would people prefer to try to buy Advanced Devics or Off-Site Power Plants first?

Are we limited on a single person/faction for Back in the Saddle? Not saying we should cram the entirety of Philadelphia's parahuman population in the sewers, just checking what we are working with.

If Sextant gets updated to inteligent device status he is gonna come in handy against Saint since his gang only knows about Perfect Storm existance and not Sextant's.

You can propose whomever you want, but if it's somebody you don't have a good connection to, you need to present an argument to convince them to come along.

Template Devices cannot be upgraded.

So what do you people think about both MM and Vista? Sure, they are storm sewers, but we'd be dealing with very limited space and Vista could give us the upper hand in that respect. I mean, between Sam handling close quarters, unlimited dakka from Miss Militia, spatial warping as it suits and everything we bring to the table, I'd say our odds would be pretty good.

*cracks knuckles*

Glory Girl and Panacea are in PRT custody in Boston, though the Protectorate is offering induction into the Wards and subsequent probation in exchange for not going to juvie (assault with deadly force and battery with a parahuman ability for GG, accessory to the same for Panacea). Purity and Crusader are in New Orleans. The Merchants are in Brockton Bay still; they like the shithole. Oni Lee is dead thanks to Animos if I recall my plans correctly. Bonesaw is in Houston.

For the other capes, Sere is in Philly and all things good. Velocity I think is dead, but I'm not 100% sure right now and don't have my notes open. Assault is in Chicago. Flambe, Cherry Bomb, and Bouncer are the Philly Wards. The others I can think of are all OCs, which means mostly Philly.

And might I say that I really like Lung's status, Bonesaw's status, and the rest of the Slaughterhouse 9's status and location.
It is really ironic, when an ex-neo-nazi supervillain in the Protectorate, while the superheroine from a family full of superheroes is on prohibition.

Considering SW also said that we'd have to wait for Perfect Storm's cooldown to finish before we could use even the shorter versions? Seems best to get Advanced Devices first so that we are giving out the best from the start. Though, it might be that only the Templates need the cooldown to finish and we can give customs out... that mostly depends on whether they have a strong core/rare skill we don't want to lose right? And if Tim's crafted ones can be upgraded theres no reason to wait for the Advanced...

I'd tend to defer to those who know Vista's power better. Stretching space might give more room between melee enemies and ranged-blasters like Calamity and Militia, but if the presence of living creatures interferes and we're in a cramped space packed with Beasts, thats bad right? Not sure if her "mental map" power is a good thing or obsolete with WAS scouting and mapping.

I do really want us to catch up with Vista and smooth things over though, get out friend back. Taylor doesn't have any to spare ;-; so maybe invite Militia and ask her opinion on Vista's power being good or bad in the sewers? And have it be obvious (whether thats due to writer or Taylor intentionally) that we want an excuse to patrol with our friend again.

Tim can give out Devices as soon as he builds them. It's templates you have to wait for.

I swear, I feel like I've explained this before.

I'll prefer to buy Mobility and Carbon Fiber Plating and start to build power armors for Privateers.
Then we can buy Device-making and think do we want to give Lacey Device or wait for template.

Template Devices cannot be upgraded.
Also on a narrative level too many sentients sticking around complicates the writing a lot.
Much as intelligent devices may be useful we probably don't need too many of them.

@Silently Watches
What do we need to persuade the PRT to help them scan for, and arm their capes with magical potential anyway? Scanning heroes one by one seems to be rather time consuming without the PRT's acceptance after all.

From what I can tell there's no rules for or against it, so it's down to the Director and individual cape's discretion provided we can provide reasonable proof that this would not give us permanent leverage against said capes.
