Whether its airplanes, meteors, or Aliens, there have been reports of unexplained booms that have been going on across the world.

Due to the strange nature of these events, many people are turning exports in NASA to help solve these mysterious sounds.

Here is a link

Mysterious Booms Are Being Recorded Across the Country

Can't copy and paste the paragraphs, but what they say are multiple states around the US are reporting these booms, and they are coinciding with things like an oil storage tank over pressurizing.

There is more information on there, but one thing to note is that one scientist believes it could not be exploding meteors from the Leonid meteor shower because they would be too small to cause the booms.

Take that as you will.

Here is another link.

Mysterious loud booms heard across the world in 64 locations and NASA doesn't even know why

Apparently this is a phenomenon around the world as well, and scientist can't explained this stuff.

I remember a story like this a couple years ago. Might just be a rarish phenomena we haven't documented before, caused by weather or something. But I'm just spitballing there, the point is that I don't think it's anything particularly scary.

Has anyone on SV actually heard them anyway? I haven't heard them either time they've been reported so far.

Not sure how relevant, but the other day, my girlfriend and I did actually see a meteor burn up. No sound, and it was only visible for a fraction of a second. Also, Russia did just refer to its hypersonic cruise missile as operation, so there's that.

Honestly, given the time scales here, this may just be coincidence. Two booms means either two objects or one long one (i.e. the space shuttle), so I'm going to guess that it's just meteors since the SR-72 isn't a thing yet.

I saw a post about it on facebook. It says its fighter jets doing exercises.

My fiance heard the boom. It shook the building while she was working. Everyone ducked for cover and stuff fell off the shelves. I was the next town over and didn't hear it. No one knows what caused it. Could a sonic boom from a plane shake buildings like an earth quake?

Not possible. However, the draft from the engines can do a lot of damage. Mythbusters tested it out awhile back and the draft from a 747 plane is enough to send sedans flying off the road if they pass by behind the plane.

So if it was a jet it was flying super low.

Possible but it would have to be flying dangerously low to the ground to shake the buildings and knock stuff off of shelves. Also, I think the drafts only really happen when the planes take off, since they need more thrust to get off the ground. Once you get up into the air at a decent speed, the wings provide extra lift so you don't have to go full throttle on the engines. However I'm not a pilot so I don't know how true that is or not.
