"..argh"

...

Pain fills your awareness as you regain consciousness.
You have been battered and bruised, knocked out by a violent disturbance aboard the space station you call home.

You are:

[ ] John
[ ] Jane
[ ] Peter
[ ] Alexander
[ ] Write-In

And the station you are aboard is

[ ] Copernicus Military Academy for the Coalition of Earth Nations
[ ] Apollo Centre for Space Resource Extraction
[ ] Southern Cross College for Australian Astronauts
Your main area of Study is

[ ] Command Track
[ ] Engineering Track
[ ] Hard Science Track
[ ] Intelligence Track

Awakening
+++++ Muse Online +++++

"Evelyn, you need to wake up. We have a situation"
+++++ Muse +++++

You gasp and grab out, hooking your hands into a hold bar on the wall of the observation room.
Your eyes blink in the dim lighting, the dull amber of the stations emergency lighting filling the room.

The station has stopped rotating, and you relax your body into a null-g stance.

Your class is clustered around you, 20 people in the station standard vacc-suit. Rated for 48 hours of occupancy, the on-board makers can support LS for longer. but the power supply needs supplementing to do so

The Comms cut in, a vigorous argument cutting back and forth over what to do, panic barely hidden as you take note that your instructor is dead.
Their head and neck crushed between buckled plates.

What ever happened here, happened quickly and without mercy. it is lucky you are only battered and badly bruised.

Choose two actions

[ ] Take stock of your resources
[ ] Take command of the class
[ ] Attempt to communicate with Wren
[ ] Access the station reports
[ ] Write-In

You are a TA
[X] Take command of the class
[X] Access the station reports

Background of Apollo Centre

Memory comes back to you as one of the best fourth year cadets.
You were offered a position as a Teacher Assistant to the third years, gaining a small credit to your studies and salary.

"Right, Quiet down all of you."

your radio override goes out to the 15 cadets in the room.

"We have covered this before, emergency protocols and evacuation systems. The fact that this is real doesn't stop the protocols and systems from working."
"First. the Emergency lights are lit."
"These lights are Station Main power out, loss of atmosphere, and staff casualties."
"Has anyone checked Instructor Holt?"

The class murmurs for a moment, then Maxwell speaks up.
" Yes, miss Evelyn. He's... Dead. Head and Cortical stack crushed, so no way for us to restore him unless... he has an onsite backup"

"Good. and yes the staff do have onsite backups held in the Hub."
"Now, Second. we have checked for casualties, now we check the station"
"I'll copy this to your ecto's"

You float over to a terminal, and bring up the last few reports.
Just before the emergency, the power system was reporting a massive drain into the restricted section of the Intelligence wing. All station power was being redirected there.
Next, a massive gravitational surge was detected, and then rotation.

Each wing has been rotated 90 degrees in it's socket, cracking all the interlink airlocks, power conduits and the particle accelerator.
the surge has crumpled sections of each wing as well, and looking around the observation room shows that even in here, some items have been violently rotated around a point.
The Mineral extraction equipment in the bay seems intact, and the 30m asteroid in the bay has been retained.
Everything is on local power, all intercoms to the wing are working but nothing beyond.
The repeaters are down, so no radios between wings or the hub.

Select two options:

[ ] Gather the remaining classes together, and get your team back.
[ ] Go to the interlock to the Hub, see if you can make entry.
[ ] Try and get the local copy of the station AI online
[ ] The maintenance robots are offline, investigate why?
[ ] Take stock of what materials and tools you have
[ ] write-in.

Gathering the crew
[X] Gather the remaining classes together, and get your team back.
[X] Take stock of what materials and tools you have

Reaching over, you trigger the intercom to the wing.

"All Hands, report to Observation bay 5, Materials Separation Segment"

The bay is large enough to hold the 4 years, there are roughly 300 engineering track cadets

100 first years, 80 second, 60 third and your year is also 60.
Ages range between 15 and 20.

Soon, people begin spilling into the bay.
Relieved that someone is taking control.

Your team makes their way over to you.
Mandy, studying command track
Alexa, Intelligence
and Maxwell, he's doing the hard science.
Working between you all, you've managed to stay on top and pass some of the hardest classes available.

while the classes filter in, you take stock of your personal gear and what is active.

You have:

Personal vac-suit: power at 75%, makers active so air and basic food is available
basic command codes for the station, can active most machines but only during class times.
Limited access to the stations nano-fabrication blueprints. you can produce basic items and safety items.
small fabricator, can make simple hand tools (has a volume of 20 cm3

in the Engineering wing,
the sections you can activate are:
Materials Extraction
Materials separation
Materials refining
Shuttle parts fabrication
Shuttle assembly

You might be able to get more from the other wings and the hub.

[ ] Go to the interlock to the Hub, see if you can make entry.
[ ] Try and get the local copy of the station AI online
[ ] The maintenance robots are offline, investigate why?
[ ] Get the extraction system online
[ ] Get the Separation system online
[ ] Get the refining system online - also provided the initial atmosphere to the station.
[ ] Get Engineering life support online (requires a team of 40 cadets)
[ ] write-in.

Activating AI
[x] Try and get the local copy of the station AI online

Settling the rest of the cadets down, turning them over to the other fourth years
You leave the observation bay.

Ducking and weaving through debris and damaged corridors you make your way to the local processing centre.
Inside, damaged screens and computers meet your eye.

Looking over what's in here, there is just enough undamaged equipment to rig up a working terminal.
The servers are intact thank goodness, but the UPS is not.

Scavenging around you assemble one terminal, and reroute enough power to bring the local AI server online.

Cnce the terminal is online, you discover another problem.
The current copy of the AI is corrupted. Badly.
However, a backup is kept in this area.

You save the corrupted Ai and it's database to external storage for later investigation.
Install the back up and initialise.

Wren Online.

"Hello, Evelyn. I see we have a situation."
"I have some control over the engineering wing. Activating repair drones"
"Five out of 40 drones online"
"Inactive virus detected in network, isolating"
"Please designate priority of repairs"

Rate the following 1 to 10. 10 being the lowest"

Engineering wing
[ ] Structural Integrity (30%)
[ ] Power Systems (50%)
[ ] Life Support (20%)
[ ] Network (30%)
[ ] Rotation and station keeping (10%)
[ ] Materials Extraction (15%)
[ ] Materials separation (20%)
[ ] Materials refining (13%)
[ ] Shuttle parts fabrication (30%)
[ ] Shuttle assembly (40%)

One percent can be repaired by day with current drone leaves, More assistance will be required.

Explanation of Engineering Wing
I don't know what most of these do...

[ ] Structural Integrity (30%)

Basic integrity of the wing. this is how well the wing in holding together

[ ] Power Systems (50%)

Power supply, distribution and storage.

[ ] Life Support (20%)

food and air distribution and creation

[ ] Network (30%)

computer network infrastructure, how the computers and AI communicate

[ ] Rotation and station keeping (10%)

The ability to spin the station, and to move it's orbit. you'd need all 4 wings functioning to move the station.

[ ] Materials Extraction (15%)

extraction of raw material from asteroids

[ ] Materials separation (20%)

separation of the raw materials in to their elements

[ ] Materials refining (13%)

refining the elements into useful things

[ ] Shuttle parts fabrication (30%)

fabrication and preparation of the parts of shuttles, with work could make a spaceship

[ ] Shuttle assembly (40%)

creation of shuttles from the parts made in the fabricator above.

Work Parties and Investigation
With Eng-Wren's priorities set.

The repair drones begin their work.

With only 5 drones, all the work will take months to complete.
But with the assistance of the cadets, you will be able to speed things up.

Moving back to where you gathered the cadets, your team has split them up into work parties.

[ ] 10 parties with 30 people each 10 1st 8 2nd 6 3rd and 6 4th years
[ ] 20 parties with 15, 5 1st, 4 2nd, 3 3rd and 3 4th years
[ ] 30 parties with 10 people each mixed from each year.

Where do you want to direct each party?

Please list each section, and how many parties will be working on each one.
You do not need to have it match the priorities set to Eng-Wren.

You are going to need sleep and shelter soon.

[ ] setup a makeshift camp inside the engineering wing
[ ] Investigate the hub, and see if the habitation section is ok?

Camp.
Now that the work parties are assembled, you start looking at setting up an area to sleep and rest in.

Consulting with Eng-Wren, when the incident happened some of the storage areas were emptied.
Two of those are large enough to be repurposed into this camping area.

You grab your team, and some of the simple bots around.
Using the shuttle fab, you fabricate enough beds for everyone with some limited privacy
Better quality makers for food and drinks (and dealing with the results), connected into the wings feedstock transports.
Setting this up takes four hours.

After that, you are worrying about the other cadets, there should be another 900 cadets in the other wings

The fact that no one has come into the wing, or sought you out from earth is bad.
You do know the distress beacon is running.

You will need to investigate.

[ ] Command wing via EVA.
[ ] Science wing via EVA.
[ ] Habitation Hub via airlock connector.

E.V.A across to COMMAND.
E.V.A for most spacers is one of the most dangerous activities they can undertake.

For you, it's tuesday.

Cycling the airlock, you and your team step out into the black.
From here, you can see the ... that's not Earth.
Earth doesn't have two continents and three islands.
Nor does it have a pink purple substance covering about a third of the landmass and ocean.
Oh hell. Oh Hell. Right, Command wing first, Panic later.

Gathering at the edge, you make sure of all the connections on your mobility pack and those of your companions.
They make sure of yours and triple check each other.

You start your leap, moving through the black.

Where are you headed to on Command wing?

[ ] Admin
[ ] Mess
[ ] Comms
[ ] Station AI
[ ] Lecture rooms
[ ] Bridges

Breaking into admin
The trip is calm, quiet and thankfully uneventful.

Reaching an airlock, you apply your codes and slip inside
After cycling the airlock, you step inside admin.

Again, the emergency lights are activated
but this time, it's filled with bodies.

Lots of bodies.

it looks like every adult in the wing opened their suits when the depressurisation hit and just stared into space as they died..

Bloody disturbing.

the cadets, however are in medical stasis

What to do from here...

[ ] Comms
[ ] Station AI
[ ] Lecture rooms
