The man sitting on the park bench said. Both his words, the melancholic expression on his face and his slightly hunched posture as if he tried to hide from someone emanated gentle sadness tinged with the feeling of fondness.

Physically, he appeared to be in his early thirties, but the way he carried himself made him look far older, even ancient. His faded black hair already had some splotches of white here and there, and the pair of glasses he wore looked almost opaque, reflecting the light coming from the streetlamps nearby.

"Touya," the man said to the boy sitting on the same bench. "I… I will be gone for a while. There are some things I need to do. Very important things." He sighed heavily, slumping his shoulders. "Don't worry: I'll be back in no time."

"Why can't I go with you?" the boy asked, gazing at the serene night sky.

The man felt an uncomfortable feelings arose in his throat as if someone tightened a noose around it. For a few moments, he tried to think of an answer, and finally, found one. "Because it's adult stuff."

"Adult stuff?" Touya parroted the man. His gaze instantly shifted from the starry sky to his father. "What's that?"

"Well," the man muttered. "It's the stuff only adults can do. So, you can't do it. You absolutely can't."

"But I want to go with you, Dad."

"Sorry, Touya," the man smiled and ruffled the boy's brown hair. "Maybe when you grow up."



Just don't forget: your Dad will always love you.

A young man woke up in his room, all alone. Half-asleep, he sat up on his bed and lazily rubbed his face to drive away the drowsiness. Curiously, he found that there was some moisture left on his cheeks. Looking at the few droplets left on his fingers, he frowned.

"Again with this dream."

The boy slowly stood up and swiftly changed into his school uniform – a non-descript black jacket, brown slacks and a white button-up shirt. Looking at himself in the mirror, all Touya saw was an average-looking teenage boys with eyes that had almost no light in them.

"Oh, breakfast!" he suddenly remembered.

Touya lived in a tiny studio, clogged with magazines, books, discarded video game boxes and piles of manga volumes, so the walk to the area the boy called his kitchen wasn't very long. In fact, he barely needed to make more than three steps to reach the stove.

"Breakfast is important," he said as if sharing a valuable lesson with someone else. "Let's see. Carry ramen or cheese ramen? Or maybe I should try the past ramen, instead."



If only…

"Did you say something?" you asked the masked person that stood next to you. Their entire body was hidden behind a voluminous shroud that appeared to constantly move, ignoring the direction of the wind.

Together, the two of us were tasked with monitoring your target – a boy named Homura Touya – for a reason not explained by your higher-ups.

"I said why are we wasting time on some no-name kid," the figure boomed, their voice creating almost visible vibrations in the air. "People of our caliber should be given tasks that are more challenging. Not baby-sitting."

"This is our mission, whether you like it or not is of no importance," you pointed out.

"It's insulting," your partner muttered. "At least the Boss will pay us good money for this."

"Is money all you care about?" you asked, half-jokingly.

"It lets you go places," they pointed out. "What about you?"

You recalled the reason you joined the Prometheus Agency, a secret organization of superhumans created to bring salvation to humanity. Your leader, for all you know about the man, was a very secretive person that rarely recruited anyone personally.

You know what'd be nice? If there was a mechanic that encouraged villainous actions. I mean things like being really good at dodging as long as we stick heroes in elaborate tanks full of sharks with lasers on their heads instead of just shooting them.

what can I say? I like playing heroic characters even if they aren't the universe's Main Character.

Threadmarks are a thing ya know. A lot of QMs seems to forget about it and I'm not sure why.

You know what'd be nice? If there was a mechanic that encouraged villainous actions. I mean things like being really good at dodging as long as we stick heroes in elaborate tanks full of sharks with lasers on their heads instead of just shooting them.
I've seen complaints before about SV being goody two shoes, but at least half the reason for that is because being a good rational person tends to give larger rewards in the long term and SV always thinks in the long term. Some kind of mechanic that rewards evil would help combat that.

I want our definition to of save the world to be evil though, something like "free will is a sickness" or "the dark gods will bring order."

I've seen complaints before about SV being goody two shoes, but at least half the reason for that is because being a good rational person tends to give larger rewards in the long term and SV always thinks in the long term. Some kind of mechanic that rewards evil would help combat that.

Both "evil" and "good" decisions will have consequences and benefits. Moreover, your morality is more malleable, and I will try to present decisions that are not good vs bad
