It is the start of the 24th Century and Humanity has spread amongst the stars under the banner of the United Nations. For centuries, the United Nations has stood as the sole government of the human race apart from fringe colonies. Once a benevolent if imperfect organisation, the golden age of the 22nd Century gave way to the gilded age of the 23rd Century. Peace and unity has given way to unhappiness and revolts that have only grown more common as greed and corruption have set in.

Abuse of power has gone from a rarity to commonplace, arguably becoming the new formal. With a vibrant democracy having become a stagnant oligarchy, something must give as the United Nations is now just a twisted mockery of the once noble organisation.

Yet there are those who still believe in the ideals and principles of the United Nations that led to the golden age of humanity. These idealistic individuals can be primarily found in the United Nations Space Command, where a legacy of true belief has been stubbornly clung to even as it becomes an increasingly diminished light in an increasingly dark era.

Who are you?

[] Write-In Name

[] Male.
[] Female.

What makes you special?
[] Your Charisma. You are especially charismatic, able to charm others and sway them to your side. You can easily earn loyalty and inspire fanatical devotion to yourself and your cause.
[] Your Intelligence. You are a natural prodigy, a genius who can easily figure out the facts and numbers. You are good at sorting out organisation and the paperwork, able to pick out solutions with ease.
[] Your Determination. You have a strong sense of determination that lets you push things that extra step. You have limits like every person, but you can push right up to those limits and keep going.

What warship is your flagship?
[] UNS Athena
One of the more common battleship designs, the Mars-class Battleship is a tough fighter who can dish out plenty of firepower. It lacks any hangar bays, but nothing shy of another battleship can stand up to it in direct battle. The UNS Athena has been further upgraded with a special fabricator module to keep the warship supplied with spare parts and ammunition so long as she has access to raw materials.
Mars-class Battleship UNS Athena
Weapons: 4, Heavy number of double-barrelled heavy railguns even for a battleship and a decent point defence system for anti-small craft work.
Shields: 4, Dual heavy-duty shielding units.
Hull: 8, Reinforced battleship hull with dual heavy armour plating.
Engines: 1, Standard set of dual engines for a capital ship.
Crew: Regular
Special = Fabricator Module: Limited ability to fabricate new parts and equipment from raw materials.

[] UNS Dauntless
The Victory-class Battlecruiser is pretty standard for its role with the firepower of a battleship, but the speed of an agile cruiser. The UNS Dauntless has been further modified with additional command systems to enhance her role as a flagship.
Victory-class Battlecruiser UNS Dauntless
Weapons: 4, Several batteries of double-barrelled heavy railguns backed up by light laser cannons and a decent point defence system for anti-small craft work.
Shields: 3, Heavy-duty shielding units.
Hull: 6, Reinforced battleship hull with a standard amount of armour plating.
Engines: 4, Triple dual engines for extreme speed even by battlecruiser standards.
Hangar: 4/1 Bomber Squadron, 1 Interceptor Squadron, 2 Fighter Squadrons.
Crew: Regular
Special = Fleet Command Systems: Improved ability to coordinate fleet actions.

[] UNS Exemplar
The Enterprise-class Fleet Carrier is pretty normal for an UNSC fleet carrier. It lacks direct offensive and defensive capabilities, but makes up for it by being able to support a dozen squadrons of small craft. The UNS Exemplar has been further modified with additional systems to coordinate her various small craft squadrons in the field.
Enterprise-class Fleet Carrier UNS Exemplar
Weapons: 2, Several batteries of light laser cannons and a pair of heavy torpedo launchers.
Shields: 2, Standard warship shield generator.
Hull: 5, Basic carrier hull with a standard amount of armour plating.
Engines: 1, Standard set of dual engines for a capital ship.
Hangar: 12/2 Gunboat Squadrons, 3 Bomber Squadrons, 3 Interceptor Squadrons, 4 Fighter Squadrons.
Crew: Regular
Special = Squadron Coordination Network: Enhanced ability to command all small craft squadrons.

[] UNS Pegasus
Fulfilling a role between the battleship and the fleet carrier, the Colossus-class Assault Carrier has enough firepower to stand up to an enemy cruiser or squadron of escorts at the expense of less hangar space. The UNSC Pegasus has been further modified with extra-heavy armour plating to resist damage that has gotten past the shields.
Colossus-class Assault Carrier UNS Pegasus
Weapons: 3, Mixture of standard railguns and missile launchers and a decent point defence system for anti-small craft work
Shields: 2, Standard warship shield generator.
Hull: 5, Basic carrier hull with a standard amount of armour plating.
Engines: 1, Standard set of dual engines for a capital ship.
Hangar: 8/1 Gunboat Squadron, 2 Bomber Squadrons, 2 Interceptor Squadrons, 3 Fighter Squadrons.
Crew: Regular
Special = Heavy Armour: Chance to resist damage to hull and core systems.

[] UNS Stellaris
One of the newest designs put into production by the UNSC, the Earth-class Supercarrier is an impressive ship with the most modern technologies incorporated into it. While lacking in direct combat capabilities for its size, it is still comparable to most capital ships and capable of supporting up to two dozen small craft squadrons. Unfortunately, the newness of the UNS Stellaris is matched by the newness of her crew.
Earth-class Supercarrier UNS Stellaris
Weapons: 3, Several batteries of heavy lasers and missile launchers backed up by lighter variants of both.
Shields: 2, Standard warship shield generator.
Hull: 7, Supercarrier hull with medium armour plating.
Engines: 1, Triple dual engines for extreme speed even by battlecruiser standards.
Hangar: 24/4 Gunboat Squadrons, 6 Bomber Squadrons, 6 Interceptor Squadrons, 8 Fighter Squadrons.
Crew: Green
Special = Next-Gen: Built with the latest state of the art technology..

[] UNS Paragon
One of the oldest warships still in active service with the UNSC, the Constitution-class Dreadnought might be notably obsolescent, but it is not obsolete yet. With extensive weapons, defences and hangar space, the UNS Paragon is crewed by a proud and experienced crew and the warship herself has picked up a few tricks up her sleeve over her long service.
Constitution-class Dreadnought UNS Paragon
Weapons: 5, Extensive amount of triple-barrelled heavy railguns backed up by heavy missile launchers and a decent point defence system for anti-small craft work.
Shields: 5, Overlapping heavy-duty shielding units with backup units.
Hull: 9, Reinforced dreadnought hull with dual heavy armour plating.
Engines: 1, Standard set of quad engines for a superheavy warship.
Hangar: 6/1 Gunboat Squadron, 2 Bomber Squadrons, 1 Interceptor Squadron, 2 Fighter Squadrons.
Crew: Veteran
Special = Old Girl: A long service with a dutiful crew has her with a few tricks up her sleeve.
Flaw = Last-Gen: Made with last generation technology and lagging behind modern technology.

New quest inspired by the likes of Remnant Fleet quest by @Trent01 though the premise is different. In this quest, you will be taking the command of an idealist UN captain and the remains of his task force as the gilded age of humanity collapses into a dark age. Sticking to your principles and beliefs, you will need to salvage something worth saving from the collapse of civilization as humanity know it or die trying in the process.

Please point out any spelling or grammar mistakes that you spot. Please quote them in the thread and explain what you think is wrong so I know what you are referring to.

The Exemplar
[X] Plan: The Boss
-[X] Elora Ripley
-[X] Female
-[X] Your Charisma.
-[X] UNS Exemplar

You are Commodore Elora Ripley of the UNSC and captain of the UNS Exemplar. You weren't always destined to be so for you were once the scion of one of greater oligarchical families that rule the United Nations in all, but name. But you ended that path in your life when you signed up with the United Nations Space Command and changed your name from Maelei to Ripley.

You originally joined to escape a life that had been scripted for you before you were even born, but since then, you have come to believe in the ideals of the United Nations. Even if the vast organisation itself had become a corrupt thing that had casted aside its nominal ideals, you believe in the idea of liberty, of freedom, of democracy. The right to choose your own future and not have your life trampled upon by those claiming to be your superior human being.

A spark of hope in a corrupt and greedy galaxy.

And now your career in the UNSC has led to this moment.

"Status report!" you order as you struggle to your feet after something hit the Exemplar and knocked you from your command chair.

You aren't the only one getting to your feet as most of your bridge crew was similarly impacted by whatever struck the ship.

"We got hit by something!" reports one of the watchstanders, "I have…our systems have no idea what hit us."

"Both torpedo launchers are offline and the shield generator is only operating at 63% power," declares another watchstander, "Hull has taken heavy damage from the unknown weapon.,"

"Engineering reports that one of the engines is offline!" shouts a third watchstander, "We can still move, but just barely."

"What about the rest of the fleet?" you demand as you need to get back into control of the situation.

The Exemplar has been hit hard by something completely unknown, but you are still her captain and your crew needs to know that they can still count on you in this time of crisis. That means remaining calm and getting on top of things.

That makes figuring out what happened to other UNSC warships in your taskforce, which was formed from elements of…

Which UNSC Fleet are you assigned to?
[] 43rd Fleet. The UNSC 43rd Fleet is built around its disportionately heavy warships. In addition to fielding larger than average number of battleships and having a squadron of dreadnoughts, the majority of the cruisers are heavy cruisers whilst almost all of the light escort ships are destroyer-weight. It lacks tactical mobility and hangar space, but 43rd Fleet more than makes up for it in raw ability to dish out damage and take it in turn.
[] 96th Fleet. The UNSC 96th Fleet is a relatively new formation built around carrier warships and their ability to field starfighters. It has a disportionately large number of light carriers amongst its cruiser complement while the majority of its capital ships are either assault carriers, fleet carriers or supercarriers. While it struggles to stand up to most peer opponents in a direct engagement, the 96th Fleet has enough starfighters to ensure the battle won't come to that.
[] 20th Fleet. The UNSC 20th Fleet is one of the oldest formations around. While it has yet to receive any of the most modern warships, the fleet has one of the highest Focused on veteran crews and elite pilots.

The taskforce that was formed to deal with a brewing problem in this part of UN space. Just one of the many symptoms of the United Nations collapsing under its own corrupted and bloated weight. You don't know how to fix things, but you do know your duty and because of that you're spent the last couple of weeks fighting against…

Who are you fighting?
[] Megacorp Mercenaries. As part of the breakdown of general order, you are fighting a mercenary force that has been unreasonably well-equipped by the megacorp that it is working for. You've been fighting forces comparable to your own if inferior in quality.
[] 'Socialist' Rebels. Any major protest or revolt against the oligarchs running the UN is called 'Socialist' these days and you're fairly certain this bunch of rebels are more fascist than socialist. You've been facing masses of converted civilian equipment such as armed freighters and shuttles.
[] Cultist Uprising. UNIC really dropped the ball on this one because some doomsday cult managed to gain enough traction to launch a system wide uprising against the UN. You're been facing diehard fanatics of varying quality and you get the gut feeling that something weird is up.

"Commodore Ripley!" shouts Commander Tahmina Khan as she strides into the bridge, "We have enemy contact heading our way!"

Commander Khan is your XO, the second in command of the UNS Exemplar and your loyal right-hand. Having worked with her for some time now, this is supposed to be your last assignment with Tahmina as the other woman is due to be transferred to her own command after this campaign is over. A real shame because Commander Khan has…

What is Commander Tahmina Khan's talent?
[] A Motivational Spirit. Tahmina both runs a tight ship and has a talent for motivating the crew to do their best. Pass one failed Exemplar Check per encounter.
[] A Mind for Engineering. Having risen from the ranks of engineers, Tahmina is good at making sure the Exemplar stays in good shape. Bonus to all Exemplar repair rolls.
[] Some Good Fortune. While you hate to subscribe to supernatural beliefs, you cannot deny that things have a tendency to go unnaturally well when Tahmina is in. One Reroll per encounter.
[] A Sixth Sense. Tahamina has something of a sixth sense from somewhere. You don't know how it works, but she has always had a knack for just knowing things. Mystery Box.

Commodore Elora Ripley
-Determination: 4/It takes a certain type of individual to be a high-ranking idealist in the UNSC, but you have the guts and stubbornness to be one.
-Intelligence: 4/You are smart and knowledgeable enough to get command of a fleet carrier, a cut above the rest yet nothing truly special.
-Charisma: 6/You are especially charming, able to make friends out of strangers and get people aboard your position.

Enterprise-class Fleet Carrier UNS Exemplar
Weapons: 1/2, Several batteries of light laser cannons and a pair of heavy torpedo launchers. Both torpedo launchers and multiple laser turrets are offline.
Shields: 1/2, Standard warship shield generator. Shield generator is operating at partial capacity.
Hull: 3/5, Basic carrier hull with a standard amount of armour plating. Hull has taken a substantial beating.
Engines: 0.5/1, Standard set of dual engines for a capital ship. One engine is offline and the hyperdrive is on the fritz.
Hangar: 12/1.5 Gunboat Squadrons, 0.5 Bomber Squadron, 2 Interceptor Squadrons, 2 Fighter Squadrons.
Crew: Regular
Special = Squadron Coordination Network: Enhanced ability to command all small craft squadrons.

Second half of what is basically character creation before we get into the swing of things. The fleet vote is about the other warships you expect to find with you right now while the enemy vote is about who you are fighting right now, not who you will be fighting long term. Finally, the XO vote is about what your second-in-command is like and what sort of special ability they provide. I feel that all of the special abilities are clear enough that they don't need further explanation here.

As like last time, please use plan voting for this vote.

Please point out any spelling or grammar mistakes that you spot. Please quote them in the thread and explain what you think is wrong so I know what you are referring to.

Clash at Osiris - Part 1
[X] Plan: Collective Power
-[X] 96th Fleet.
-[X] Megacorp Mercenaries. As part of the breakdown of general order, you are fighting a mercenary force that has been unreasonably well-equipped by the megacorp that it is working for. You've been fighting forces comparable to your own if inferior in quality.
-[X] A Motivational Spirit. Tahmina both runs a tight ship and has a talent for motivating the crew to do their best. Pass one failed Exemplar Check per encounter.

"What are we looking at, Commander?" you ask, giving a relieved and respectful nod to your trustworthy XO.

"Whatever hit us left a few of the mercs intact as well," reports Tahmina, "A crippled light cruiser with three escorts. The light cruiser is too badly damaged for our own sensors to identify it, but our systems are flagging the escorts as a Kilo-class Frigate and a pair of Seeker-class Corvettes."

You know those models. A Seeker-class Corvette is nothing special with light armour, light shielding and basic propulsion while its own only armament a few missile batteries. The Kilo-class Frigate is basically a larger ship of roughly the same capabilities except a little tougher to fight.

Nothing that the Exemplar is unable to take care of, even in her reduced state. The light cruiser might have posed a problem, but after taking a look at the sensor readings, you conclude that it is too crippled to throw down with the Exemplar. Not that you should ignore the threat that it poses.

Now you just need to decide how best to deal with the enemy warships so you can get to work on sorting out the mess that the fleet is in.

The Exemplar is in good enough shape to take a few hits before what is left of the shield gives out, but direct engagement isn't the primary purpose of the warship. Yet you don't have any escorts to do the fighting for you and even in her weakened state, the Exemplar could easily handle one or two of those warships without difficulty.

You have a few intact small craft squadrons. A squadron of gunboats for heavy fire support along with a pair of interceptor squadrons, full of fast and agile small craft who are designed to engage hostile small craft. Finally the Exemplar still has a couple of intact fighter squadrons, made up of mixed-role fighters who are capable of engaging both enemy small craft and enemy warships.

First combat turn. I have a combat system planned out, but it has yet to be used so there may be some teething issues. Especially once the fleet grows, but that is a problem for another day.

Right now, you have a crippled cruiser with a trio of basic escorts to take care of in your damaged stage before you can begin to focus on the wider situation.

Please point out any spelling or grammar mistakes that you spot. Please quote them in the thread and explain what you think is wrong so I know what you are referring to.

--[X] Shields
-[X] Frigate Strike.
--[X] 1 Gunship
-[X] Corvette Hunting.
--[X] 2 Fighter

-- [X] 2 Interceptor

The Exemplar is a carrier and while the lady might be running low on squadrons right now, small craft is her primary way of fighting.

"Commander Khan, have the CAG get our birds prepped for launcher," you order Tahmina, "Someone get the engineers working on our shield generator. I understand that it will take some proper repair work to get it back to full long-term functionality, but I want them to try and get some extra juice out of it for this fight. It might be the difference between life and death."

"Captain!" calls the CAG on your terminal, "Orders for our squadrons once they are in the air?"

"Gunships are to target the enemy frigate," you order, "Fighters to engage the corvettes. Interceptors can't really hurt those warships so hold them back in reserve."

"Understood, ma'am," replies the CAG, "I'll relay your orders now."

"Captain, I've got the crew working on the shield generator now," says Commander Khan, drawing your attention back to her.

And with that your primary involvement is over. You aren't without work as you review the damage reports and help organise getting your ship into fighting shape, but your subordinates have their orders and don't need you babysitting them as they carry them out. So you watch and wait as three squadrons of small craft soar through the void and wreckage towards the cluster of hostile warships.

Spotting your pilots, the mercenary escorts turn to engage them while the light cruiser continues to drift along. The frigate and corvette spit out missiles at the Exemplar's fighters and gunships and from there, it goes badly.

You aren't sure if your pilots got sloppy or the corvette gunners lucky, but missile after missile slams into the fighters. Not all of them die, but as the surviving fighters break off their attack run, you have lost maybe half of them to the defensive fire of the Seekers.

Thankfully your gunships handle that Kilo-class much better, pounding it with massed anti-vehicle weapons until the warship's energy shield gives out under the sustained firepower. A single gunship couldn't do much to that warship on their own, but an entire squadron is fully capable of taking it out with time.

"Captain!" shouts Tahmina, "Engineering reports that they've got the shield back at 98% percent power. It is just a temporary fix for the next couple of minutes or so. A more long term solution will require some proper repair work, which means taking a few hours to do the job right."

"Tell them that they've done some good work, Commander," you reply as you check the newly updated readouts of the Exemplar for yourself, "That additional defence could be the difference between life and death for us even if it is only a fleeting measure."

Meanwhile the gunships continue to pound away at the now shieldless frigate, dealing damage to the ship itself. The weapons of the Kilo-class Frigate are hit especially hard with practically all of the missile launchers being taken offline by the firepower of the gunships.

The surviving fighters have also regrouped and are making a better showing of themselves as they hit one of the corvettes with anti-shipping missiles. The mercenary warship doesn't suffer any actual damage to its hull, but its shield flickers and disappears as the shield generator is overwhelmed.

First round of combat and things could have gone better for you. Your gunships barely got their licks in whilst the fighters got rather unlucky or rather the corvettes got rarely lucky as both got the high rolls to take out an entire squadron's worth of starfighters between the two of them.

Anyway, you've dished out some damage to that frigate while one of the corvettes is without its shields and your shields are temporarily back up to full strength.

Please point out any spelling or grammar mistakes that you spot. Please quote them in the thread and explain what you think is wrong so I know what you are referring to.

--[X] 1 Fighter
--[X] 1 Gunship

As you assess the situation, you decide that your orders need to change. The loss of the fighters is an unexpected pain and with the frigate losing its weapon systems, that leaves both of the corvettes as the biggest threats right now.

"Alpha Squadron, Bravo Squadron, Charlie Squadron," you call into the comms, "Focus your attacks on the corvettes. That frigate is currently unable to harm us and therefore a lesser priority than the warships with working guns."

Getting a series of affirmatives, you turn your attention back to the Exemplar. The shields are back to mostly full strength, but half of the carrier's weapons are offline. A fleet carrier isn't meant to be directly fighting, but that doesn't make the lack of direct combat capability any less concerning. Especially given how reduced your squadrons are and the lack of any escorts.

"Commander Khan, get our engineers working on our weapons," you order, "If at all possible, I want our torpedo launchers back online."

"Planning to engage the enemy warships directly, ma'am?" inquires Tahmina.

"No, we'll continue to keep our distance for the movement," you answer, "I just want the combat capability in case anything else goes wrong."

"I'll go and the crew now," says Tahmina and as she leaves, you turn your attention back to the battle.

Both the gunships and the fighters are making attack runs on the shieldless corvette. The gunships are only able to do minimal damage as the corvettes focus their defensive fire on them, but that allows the fighters to strike the sole engine on the shieldless corvette.

In response, the corvettes switch to trying to hit the fighters with their missiles, which frees up the gunships to act, which they promptly do. Massed anti-vehicular fire shreds the armour and hull of the damaged Seeker-class Corvette, leaving it riddled with holes. As the warship doesn't explode, the power core must have remained stable, but the corvette is nothing more than a drifting wreck.

Three Actions Available.
Unassigned Squadrons: 2 Interceptor,
Corvette Hunting: 1 Gunship, 1 Fighter
[] Cruiser Deathblow.
-The enemy light cruiser is effectively crippled and should be easily finished off.
[] Frigate Strike.
-The Kilo-class Frigate shouldn't be too hard for your small craft to take out.
[] Corvette Hunting.
-Seeker-class Corvettes are meant for hunting freighters, patrolling empty space and screening for real warships. Your small craft can handle the second one like they did with the first.
[] Reserve.
-Hold the small craft squadrons in reserve to deal with unexpected threats or surprise attacks.

Sorry about how long it took to update this quest, I forgot about it whilst I was writing my stories. Anyway, we are back and one of the corvettes is down and you didn't lose any more small craft. Given how slow the combat is going, I'm wondering how much of the thread would like me to speed things up. It would make the quest progress faster, but deny you more tactical choice in how things turn out.

Please point out any spelling or grammar mistakes that you spot. Please quote them in the thread and explain what you think is wrong so I know what you are referring to.

Clash at Osiris - Part 4
[X] Plan Endgame
-[X] Engage Target. (1 Unknown Light Cruiser (Badly Damaged))
-[X] Take Aim.
-[X] Corvette Hunting.
--[X] 1 Fighter
--[X] 1 Gunship
-[X] Reserve.
--[X] 2 Interceptor

It is time to end this.

"Helm, bring us forward to engage that light cruiser," you order, "Have the weapons crew get ready to engage as soon as we enter an effective firing range."

"Yes, captain," replies the junior officer in question as you turn her attention back to the ongoing battle.

It will take time for the Exemplar to close to a firing distance and in the meantime, the gunships and fighters will be engaging the second corvette as per their existing orders. With the interceptors holding reserve, there are no more orders for you to give. Well, except for one thing.

"Commander Khan, have the crew focus on getting that sensor data sorted and refined," you order, "Our own weapon crews could use the data for their aiming and I'm sure the CAG would be happy to give our squadrons more accurate targeting data for their attack runs."

"Aye-aye, Captain," replies Tahmina and you focus on the small craft once more as the Exemplar lumbers towards the battle.

The surviving Seeker-class Corvette continues to blast away with its missile launchers, but your pilots show their worth as they easily dodge the incoming missiles. And in turn, they launch some very effective attack runs, the refined targeting data synergising with the Squadron Coordination Network to let the gunships and fighters do some very nasty damage.

The shields quickly give out under the firepower of the fighters, causing a chain reaction that your sensors report as the shield generator the corvette overloading. With the shields down for the count, the gunships follow up by knocking out the corvette's sole engine and leaving the enemy warship drifting in space.

But not dead in space as the corvette still has its weapons and it doesn't hesitate to make use of those as the Exemplar comes within firing range. Both the corvette and the light cruiser open fire upon your flagship, missiles coming from the corvette while the remaining turrets on the light cruiser spit out lasers.

Barely any of them hit you, those that do inflicting negligible damage upon your shields while the rest goes wide, careening off into the empty void of space. In return, the gunships pick off the remaining weapon systems of the corvette while the Exemplar pounds the light cruiser.

The torpedoes hit first as both projectiles slam into the shields of the light cruiser and already weakened from existing damage, they break under the explosive pressure. With the shields down, the mercenary light cruiser is left vulnerable to the laser cannons of the Exemplar and your gunners systematically pick off any functional weapon systems they can identify on the light cruiser.

Charisma Check, DC10 = 9+6

"To all mercenary warships, this is Commodore Ripley of the UNS Exemplar," you broadcast on an open channel to the enemy warships, "Your shields are down and your weapons have been disabled. This is your chance to surrender. If you do, you will be taken prisoner and treated according to the laws of war. If you refuse to surrender, my forces will destroy you with lethal force. Commodore Ripley, out."

It is a gamble on whether or not the enemy takes you up on your offer to surrender, but not one that costs you anything and it could let you avoid further loss of life on either side of the conflict.

And it does pay off a moment later as the commander of the corvette sends their surrender, swiftly followed by the captain of the light cruiser. The captain of the frigate takes a little longer, but as the Exemplar locks onto the warship and your small craft begin to set themselves up for attack runs, they quickly make the sensible choice as well.

"I had some people review what happened and it seems that some unknown energy wave came out of the gate and wash over everything, ma'am," reports Tahmina in the privacy of your stateroom, "I have tried to run analysis on the unknown energy, but the moment that the computer began to get something, the analysis got cancelled on the grounds that I lacked clearance. I tried a couple more times, but I only got the same results or rather the same lack of results."

"Good work, Tahmina," you tell her, "I'll give it a go, see if my higher ranks gives me anything."

"Got it, Elora," says Tahmina before giving you a sardonic grin, "It hasn't quite the last mission together that we were expecting, has it?"

"No, it has not," you agree before sighing, "Unfortunately, I don't think it is quite over yet. What about the rest of the fleet? Or Osiris?"

"Hard to tell," admits Tahmina, "Whatever those energies were, they somehow scattered the fleet in addition to damaging us and their residue is playing havoc with sensors outside the local area. We'll have to go looking if we want to find answers. Provided that nobody finds us first."

"Well, it could be worse," you reply, "Alright Tahmina, you've done a good job. Go and get some rest. You're still human like the rest of us and I'll be needing you at your best once I've decided what our next course of action is."

"Aye-aye, Elora," says Tahmina before she exits your stateroom, leaving you to figure out what to do next.

The surviving mercenary warships are dealt with. You had your crews override their computers and install security protocols to keep them from doing anything untoward even if they aren't under your direct supervision.

You could go looking for the rest of the fleet or you could check out the local colony, Osiris. Osiris and the attempt by the ruling megacorps to reject UN authority is the sole reason that you are here. By the same token, you could investigate the statuses of local mining outposts in the asteroid belt or the other various minor stations that can be found through the system.

Heck, you could even check out the gate, see if it is still working or attempt to determine anything about what happened and its role in the events. Perhaps you could even try using it to send a message to UNSC High Command. The folks back at Sol will want to know about this unexpected turn of events pronto and they might be able to provide some assistance to you.

Or you could direct the crew to get some long-term repairs on the Exemplar. The ship stocks some spare parts for situations like this and the temporary solutions that your engineers whipped up in the middle of the last engagement are already breaking down.

Use Plan Voting (Pick 3) (Options can be chosen multiple times for additional effects)
[] Go looking for the rest of the fleet.
[] Investigate the local colony, Osiris.
[] Investigate the local gate.
[] Attempt to contact UNSC High Command back in Sol.
[] Investigate the mining outposts and other minor stations scattered about the solar system.
[] Engage in repairs for the Exemplar.

Okay, the battle is over and now we are onto the aftermath where you try to figure out what happened and get your act together. You'll have a chance to do some of the other options that you don't choose now as I expect you to get your act together at Orsis for the next two or three updates before moving onto the next location.

Please point out any spelling or grammar mistakes that you spot. Please quote them in the thread and explain what you think is wrong so I know what you are referring to.
