Light-Bearer, Reign of Shadows.

News from the Front Lines
To say that the battles at the Frontlines were a Bloody, savage, and merciless would be same as describing the sun is bright. Every day, hundreds of men and women were being killed by the creatures known as the Umbra Malem. Numerous villages were being attacked by raiding imps and their inhabitants were slaughtered like animals in a butcher shop. The Frontliners had to face legions of Knightmares and Devourers on the ground while Infernal Angels rained red lightning from the skies. Blood-wolves packs stalked the land attacking the refugees who survived the initial attack on their homes and journey back towards the homelands to avoid death. Death and despair permitted the air like a foul smoke that wouldn't go away as the bodies of the dead spread across the land. There was no glory to be sought here in the Frontlines, only survival and a duty to keep the Umbra Malem in the Frontier.

They know that if they can't keep the Umbra Malem forces contained to the Frontier then they'll spread like a wildfire throughout the rest of continent. They all had a duty to protect their homes, many had families and friends they wished to protect, and others simply want revenge against the monsters who took their friends and family from them. Every man and woman who fights and dies against the Malem is just one life making the sacrifice need to save a thousand more. They were they sword and shield for the rest of continent and they had a duty to protect their lands from this evil. This faith is strengthened when word has spread that there are Heroes wielding the light of gods fighting against Umbra Malem in the mainland. Hearing the rumors of heroes gave many of the soldiers hope and it gave them the strength to fight harder.

Even now, the armies of Cael do everything they can to slow down the black tide from moving forward. Soldiers able to wield enchanted weapons cut down as many Umbra Malem as they can before they are killed in turn. Sometimes, their fellow soldiers take up they weapons in order to continue slaying the Malem that cut down their comrade. Those taught in the mystic arts cast spells that vary in use and power to either heal the wound or slay the monsters before them. Fireballs flew through the air to burn imps and blood-wolves to ashes, lightning or magic was shot at the Infernal Angels to rip them from the skies, ice magic was used to freeze Devourers solid, and even the vary earth was turned against the charging nightmares. Holy men and women pray to the gods for victory against the Umbra Malem, hoping for miracles such as the rumored heroes to arrive or to survive the next day. Many had their faith in the gods tested on the Frontier for what gods would allow such creatures to roam the world. Some clergymen offer prays of courage and hope to those who go to fight while others give last rites to those who died in battle.

Finally, there are the knights who stand at the fore front of every battle and symbols of hope to those who saw them. Those of them who had the honor of being given blessed were able to cut through large hordes of Malem, swing with every breathe they could muster. They give hope to the average soldiers on the battle that they will survive this ordeal for another day and that they could achieve victory. However, they mortal like everyone else and thus they to fell before the dark creatures but not before taking as many as they could with them. Each of them die knowing that what they do would save thousands of innocent lives from death or worse. They became heroes in every sense of the word and tales of their heroism would be told for generations to come.

Yes, the situation on the frontier still holds strong but time is slowly wearing down this blockade. The Frontier army is starting to dwindle below what's needed to stop the forces of darkness and the Umbra Malem are starting to get bolder. If the frontier is to remain a miracle was needed and hopefully a miracle would happen soon.

The Balthazar Mage College is a primer Mage College founded by the ArchMagus Balthazar The Elemental Sage. This College provided all the common academics, but courses on Elemental Magic and Elemental Spirits were of incredible quality. It also sits right on top where seven Leylines meet. This massive amount of natural and pure Mana, allows them to cast and experiment easily.

The current situation with this Void entity is complete surprise and no one knows how this came to be. Much of the facility has been covered in a vantablack tar like substance. Several students have gone missing....

It never actually attacks anyone, it's just...there, but also not there, like an "Error" in reality. It appears and vanishes at seemingly random and it's face is obscured by a cloud of static, like you would see on a tv.

It actually seems quite docile...and...sad.
Well it sounds like either it's another lightbear that wasn't completely corrupted, a fallen god or something, or a third thing that I can't think of.

Balthazar College: The Current Situation.
The Balthazar Mage College, a primer school of magical learning known throughout the entirety of Cael. The was named after its founder Archmagus Balthazar The Elemental sage, who built the college on top of an area where seven leylines meet. There was a massive castle with a 80 meter high central tower in the middle with four smaller towers that represented Fire, Water, Earth, and Air, each was placed in a cardinal direction associated with that element. While the college is capable of providing all the common academics, its courses on elemental magic and elemental spirits is were it truly excels. Since the land produces a massive amount of pure and natural mana, many magical practitioners are able to cast and experiment with magic very easily. The college is known as one of the greatest schools of magic, if not the greatest school. However, these past several weeks have not been kind to the College.

First, was the mysterious arrival of a creature known only as the Void and it is caused both the college and the surrounding villages to gripped by fear. No one what the creature is or where did it come from only that it first appeared stalking the halls of the Balthazar College and this has lead to the nearby villagers to believe that the college created this abomination. Although, the Void seemed docile - and often saddened by something- this hasn't stopped rumors of it being the source of everyone's problems. These beliefs are strengthened with the appearance of the College becoming a dark and twisted version of itself along with rumors of mad teachers and missing students.

Regarding the Corrupting Tar, it's origins -like that of the Void- is a mystery but what is known is that it corrupts all who go near it, with the process speeding up the closer you are to the Vantablack tar. Wherever the Tar spreads the land and objects it touches change into the same Vantablack color as the Tar while also becoming more "edgy". The vantablack substance has spread so far in the school, that many sections of the school are closed off and quarantined for the safety of all. The Tar has also caused some of the teachers at Balthazar to become unhinged as some of have begun talking to thin air or burst into sudden moments of anger. This has forced the headmaster to reluctantly restrain the most unstable of his staff in order to protect the students and the rest of the faculty.

Speaking of which several of the students within the school are suffering from memory loss while others have seemingly disappeared from the face of Cael. Those suffering from memory loss often cannot remember what has happened to them for the past several days and why they find themselves somewhere else than where they last remembered. For the students who have disappeared, little to no clues could be found on where the are or how they were taken without. The students that were disappeared came from all walks of life - rich to poor, noble to race, and even all the races of Cael- it didn't matter they all disappeared. These events lead to removal of several students from the college once they reached the ears of concerned parents - whether this was genuine or political depending on the parents or guardians.

The future of Balthazar College is in danger of being closed down or worse as the combination of all these events have nearly brought the school to its knees. However, there is hope for the school yet as rumors about heroes appearing into the City the of Ivory Hall has inspired hope that they can solve this troubling problem. From what rumors that have traveled to Balthazar College and the surrounding villages, the heroes are said to wield weapons made of light, the wings and halos of angels, and are blessed by the gods themselves as they killed an army of demons by themselves. Many have begun praying to the gods in hopes that they would deliver the heroes onto them in their hour of need (and hopefully soon) while the others try to figure out what the hell is going on in the college.
