Introduction

Recently, I've been perusing fiction that is, in some way or another, relevant to the current state of the world. I thought a monthly book club with books that are (based on my judgement or the recommendations of others in the thread) relevant to our current climate would be a productive and interesting way to revisit the topical and/or prescient fiction of the past.

I'll try to select books that are in the public domain in the US or elsewhere so links to them can be added.

Note that this is not News & Politics, so while comparisons to current political events can be made, the focus should be on analysis of the work itself. Don't want this to turn into a secondary political chat thread!

Project Gutenberg Summary:

"The Iron Heel" by Jack London is a dystopian novel written during the early 20th century, particularly reflective of the socio-political climate in the United States. The story is told through the eyes of Avis Everhard, who chronicles the rise of a repressive oligarchy in a future America, detailing her husband Ernest Everhard's revolutionary activities and the struggle for social justice against overwhelming oppression.
