Welcome back to Let's Play Star Wars: Empire at War! (I was gonna do a Whose Line is it Anyway? reference but I couldn't think of what to put after "where the strategies are made up" )
It's been awhile since the last update, more than a month actually. And this is after I said that since it was summer I was gonna try to update at least once a day. Well, summer isn't quite over so let's see if I can at least finish the Imperial campaign by the time school comes around. Completing the Rebel one would be nice to, but as I see now it isn't very likely.
Anyways enough with all that gloom and doom, it's time to go have fun enacting the brutal conquests of an evil empire!

After the Rebel assault during the test on Carida, Veers came to the conclusion that due to its strength the assault must have originated from a nearby planet. Jabiim was the most likely candidate, so I was given the task of going to take it over.
I was pleasantly surprised to learn that contrary to claims in the previous update, I do in fact get to keep Veers. Hopefully he stays around for good, but I wouldn't be terribly surprised if at some point the game took him away for some reason or other.
After the last mission, I got a technology level increase, which is pretty sweet. I haven't quite figured out what exactly all of the tech I got was, but from what I can tell it's level four space stations, long range sensor arrays, TIE scouts, and AT-ATs.
While the Emperor and co. were still trying to brief me for the mission, I went and invaded another planet, Fresia to be exact.

I start out with what's currently the standard fleet setup: some Tartans, some Victories, some Marauders, and Vader. Unfortunately the fleet exits hyperspace behind an asteroid field, forcing me to go around in order to get to the Rebels.
The Rebels attack pretty much straight away. There's one of their new ships there, whose name I currently forget, along with some corvettes and Nebulon-Bs. For some reason, either due to a corvette coming from the north and me not wanting it to bother me or bad pathing, one of my Victories separates from the rest of the group and later ends up alone up there.
The Marauders start taking out the (level four!) space station's shield generator, while I send fighter swarm to go bother Rebels until my frigates manage to make it around the asteroid belt. After the shield generator is down, the Marauders start bombarding the space station in general.
The Assault Frigate Mk II (I looked up the name) makes it past my Victories, but not without significant damage. After the loss of some Tartans I bring in another two Victories, which destroy the Assault Frigate and then reinforce the other ones. The Victory up top keeps attacking the space station, doing some damage but not without taking a good deal as well.
I have to have one of my Victories at the bottom retreat due to low health. A while later, the one up top does as well, but it's a bigger deal since it's carrying my fleet commander. After the rest of the Rebel ships are destroyed, all that's left is finishing off the space station, taking care not to lose any more units.

The land battle on Fresia starts me out with the standard 2-M squad, along with militia groups in three separate locations. Two of them are located near one of the reinforcement points, while the third is located near the other, which works out nicely. I send those out to capture the reinforcement points. One of the two that were together are attacked by one of the Rebels' new T4-Bs, a quite nasty tank with two laser cannons and a missile launcher. For some reason though, the T4-B didn't pursue even though it could have quite easily killed all of the militia squads near it.
Prior to the reinforcement points being captured I had brought down Colonel Veers and Darth Vader, and afterwards I bring down a bunch of repulsor tanks and artillery, along with some Stormtroopers and a field commander (forgot the name for a minute there lol).
At this point I move Vader, Veers, and the all the 2-Ms up to more permanently take the near reinforcement point. Some T2-Bs attack, but are destroyed quite easily. A sensor node reveals a MPTL hanging around near north of the reinforcement point, so I send a bunch of my own artillery to deal with it.
At this points, I send the 2-Ms to aid the militia at the far reinforcement point in exploring a bit and building turrets and stuff. I was actually quite surprised when a sensor node showed a huge army of Rebel vehicles to the north of the reinforcement point, all bunched up close together. They looked like they were getting ready to attack, so I preemptively drop a bombing run on them, to moderate success.
I send the repulsor tanks up to engage them for a bit, but the T4-B is scary and so I retreat back across the water. Luckily, the remaining Rebel units don't pursue, and in fact retreat back into their base.
After all of my vehicles are repaired, I send my army to assault the Rebel base.
The Rebels are just sort of sitting around their buildings, so I make the first move and have Veers use his special ability to destroy one of the MPTLs and heavily damage everything near it. Everything besides the SPMA-Ts attack what remains. The SPMA-Ts instead go and bombard the heavy vehicle factory to the north.
Victory!
So yeah this took quite a while to type up, but that's mainly because I kept getting distracted. Hopefully as I do more I'll get back in the swing of things and the words will flow faster.
Also I've started a sort-of part-time job working around the house for my parents, and my sleep schedule is horrible (it's 5 AM right now and I've gotten no sleep yet), so on weekdays I'll probably only update once.
