Langford-Wutani Inc (Stargate in ????)

Current budget is zero right? Can we spend this turn's income?

The malus that won was:
> a lack of resources.[ Begin with $0 and operating expenses consuming 100% of your income. You start with Gate Access and a DHD. ]

Current budget is $2,000,000, Current income is $2,000,000. So you have a net income of $0, per the starting malus. I'll total it all up in the stat sheet to make that clearer so there isn't this confusion in the future.

The Loan Personal Action or "Legitimate" Business activities with the Yakuza would allow you to acquire cash immediately-ish.

In April, you'll have Stewardship options that will allow you to increase your laundering activity income via improving the HQ holding [ HQ is a money laundering operation all as well as your Stargate operation ].

Basically, for Turn 1, you have no money to work with but you can trigger debt incurring options. [e.g. Successful Financial Manager recruitment will put you -$250,000/month which will force the loan personal action in March to cover expenses]

The malus was intended to cost you something after all. ;)

24 hours or 48 hours with no votes before closing the vote? Thoughts?

I don't want to rush too much but I'm only ever going to run one quest at a time so...

Fyi, characters are updated and correct.

I'll be out tomorrow so I'll try to post on Wed most likely.

1) Personal Action Results
2) Post will be Mission Result(s) [depends on if you roll complications whether you get 1 or 2].

Need money right now. Ideally we can set something up with the Yakuza to keep a check on the interest.

Having McKay examine tech on sight diminishes chance of damaging it or bringing it back for a catastrophe. While I would like to think nothing brought back could end too badly I don't trust the dice and we literally have no resources to rebuild if things end badly.

Both worlds seem habitable and did not immediately end badly for the MALPs.

Feb, 1996 - Part 1

Acquire a Business Loan:
1d100+20 = 46

Sabrina had her loan within hours of filing the appropriate paperwork. A trivial affair barely worthy of comment beyond the $6,000,000 added to Langford-Wutani's balance sheet.

Partial repayment was expected on Jan 1st, 1997 but the terms allowed Sabrina to hold off until 1998 if she desired.

Seek "Legitimate" Business Opportunities: 1d100+18 = 27
Diplomacy Complication:
1d100+20 = 83

Sabrina sighed audibly after she finally got off the phone with her 9th Oyabun today. It seems seeking out potential laundering options were out of the question. It seems half the Yakuza thinks she is a young, stupid fool who can't manage her affairs while the other half think she is simply dangerously ambitious girl whose needs aren't satiated by millions a month in income. She barely managed to keep Langford-Wutani's relationship with the Yakuza on cordial ground.

It is probably best to avoid seeking such opportunities for the near future until tempers cool.

GC-2 Mission: 1d100 = 31

FT-2 crossed the event horizon without issue and FT-3 quickly followed suit. FT-2 maintained Gate security on GC-2 while FT-3 began the standard exploration protocol. They searched in a grid pattern from the gate until they covered about 9 square miles. No evidence of civilization or any sort of path in the area surrounding the Gate was found. They then transitioned into collecting soil and air samples of the barren wasteland before both teams returned to HQ.

Sabrina personally removed GC-2 from the list of worlds worthy of a follow up visit when the samples revealed nothing of value. A world of sand was of little use to Langford-Wutani's interests.

GC-3 Mission: 1d100 = 94
Bonus: 1d100 = 1

FT-1 crossed to GC-3 without incident and did their best to secure the gate. However, the numerous ancient trees made lines of sight difficult and there was some concern that if they were attacked they would run into difficulties. FT-3 & FT-4 were called in to provide additional security while FT-1 and R-1 handled the exploratory aspects of the mission.

The initial exploration of the region was largely monotonous as the area around the gate was trees...and more trees. R-1 was engaged in gathering a rather standard array of tree and soil samples for later study when someone began to scream like a little girl.

It seemed the good Doctor McKay had wandered off to relieve himself when he triggered a cave-in.

Agent Henderson wrapped a rope to a nearby tree before he tied it off quickly. FT-1's Medic shimmied down the rope to investigate the extent of the good Doctor McKay's injuries while the rest of FT-1 provided cover in case some wild beast decided they looked tasty.

Doctor Jackson crouched down near the hole as he examined the strong, penetrating roots of the local trees which seemed to have grown deep into some sort of dark-gray material that felt like cold stone but was too smooth to be natural. Some sort of alien concrete? His fingers caressed the stone and he hissed slightly as he pulled his hand back. The strange stone seemed to have current running through it despite its stony construction. He leaned in close and saw tiny gold veins that might have been some sort of wire running through the stone at precisely spaced intervals.

Doctor Jackson shouted to McKay, "If you hadn't stumbled onto this, we might never have noticed it! There is some sort of current running through these veins of metal in the stone. Some sort of concealment tech maybe? Our geological surveying equipment should have picked up this cavern."

"What is this buzzing I hear? A professional Archaeologist explaining the obvious?"

"Quit your bickering, ladies. We are have a job to do."

The two doctors ended their exchange at Henderson's comment. There was work to be done and an entire facility(?) to explore.

Doctor Jackson radioed to HQ, "We have an extensive cave network here, appears to be artificial and abandoned. Shall I put my Doctorate to work? We aren't sure how stable this is. We already have one casualty down with a twisted ankle, possibly broken. FT-1's medic is checking on him now."

[ ] Authorize Exploration with FT-1 and FT-2 while R-1 returned the good Doctor to HQ for an x-ray. FT-3 will keep the gate secure. [ R-1 will begin R&D on the strange gold veins that seem to be disrupting their geological survey equipment without Doctor McKay once he is safely delivered to HQ. ]
[ ] Deny Exploration. We can't risk any more casualties. [ R-1 will begin R&D on the strange gold veins that seem to be disrupting their geological survey equipment. ]

Regardless of your choice, between Doctor McKay's injury and a potentially useful discovery ... R-1 will not be available for March Missions as it will be engaged in R&D activities.

19/??? Progress on Mysterious Charged Gold Veins.

Normally I would want them to take things slow when dealing with alien technology. The problem I see is the exploration team has not really been burnt yet so being too cautious could have negative consequences on personnel if they find the shiny was on a time limit and command being too cautious ruined an opportunity.

Should I switch to rolling 5d20 instead of 1d100?

I just rolled what the result would be given the votes are unanimous and got a 2. Rolz seems to hate you guys.
