[X] The Assassin Servant. While they may prove difficult to track down, Assassin's willingness to commit surprise attacks in the middle of the city is a much more concerning threat and needs handling.
Y'know, say what you will about Kiri, but if he actually managed to inspire a generation of Magus Killers to follow in his footsteps then honestly good for him.Actually you should correct that assumption. You have heard of "Magus Killers" who supposedly use mundane weaponry to capitalize on the blind spots of Magi who think they'll only be threatened by magic. A car bomb would be in the wheelhouse of such an assassin.
Why is that my first thought was that the Polish woman was King Jadwiga? As in, the lady who laid the foundations for the Polish Lithuanian Union?
Well yeah I'm kinda confused why they think the guy is the servant, with a name like that.
The real tragedy of this update was when I realized partway through that without Cedric on the scene, there was no one who could possibly shout "ACAB!" at Lallement through the phone[X] The Assassin Servant. While they may prove difficult to track down, Assassin's willingness to commit surprise attacks in the middle of the city is a much more concerning threat and needs handling.
I had fun reading this!
Omicron, please be honest: did you find it difficult to describe Lallement only as "secondmost Top Cop" without any, ah, connoted language? Beyond the word "Cop" of course, but that's really the bare minimum when trying to explain WTF a Préfet de Police is.
"I'm partial to Asian takeaway," the man says. His companion lowers her hands, glaring.
"We're in Paris and you want to eat Asian."
"There's actually a long tradition of French-Asian cuisine owing to the-" he starts, and then pauses.
"I don't know," the man says. "I can't feel them. I only saw them staring straight at us for a second - and then they were gone. I can't find them again."
She pulls closer to him, to the reassuring shadow he casts under the orange-tinged streetlights. "Are you sure it wasn't just a passerby?"
"Certain," he says. "We should move."
"They wouldn't attack us in the crowd, would they?" she says nervously.
It comes from a rooftop, a bolt of light, and the man moves, pushing the woman away. "Jadwiga, down!" he shouts as the bolt strikes the wall behind them, carving a hole in 19th century stone.
Then more come, falling like rain.
You can't make out anything about the assailant.
They are, literally, a blank space. A hole in the footage, distinct enough that you can tell they're human-like - four limbs, a torso, a head, and whatever weapon they're using, a long sword or a spear seeming most likely. But that's all. No features can be made out, not even their gender, and even their size is inconsistent from one frame to the next.
"Excuse me the fuck," Captain Whatshisface chimes in at this point, "somebody picked up and threw a car? What the fuck are you talking about?"
Or he's inside the golem itself and piloting it like a Kabbalistic clay supersuit.Joseph was capital-F Feeling Emotions at the dumb WW2 action movie too, which seems like a clue that he has personal history with the nazis. I feel like golem shenanigans are a good guess in this case, meaning he could be either a more recent servant or a magus from a lineage related to the golem
Btw, going by the scene described, the movie is most likely Jojo Rabbit, which is pretty far from an action movie lol.
