The scent of death lingers in the air the moment you regain your senses. Everything around you is bathed in sickly green glow and you can see smoke rising to the night sky as you lie on the cold asphalt. The full moon in the sky is unnaturally large and yellow, but you pay it no attention as you move your body. You try to sit up, propping yourself with your elbows to see what is happening around you, and you see several burning, upturned vehicles.

You try to remember the last thing that happened to you before you lost your consciousness earlier. You were sitting at the backseat while your parents were at the front, with your father driving the car. You remember your father telling you about leaving the city before an explosion happened when the car was at the bridge. It all happened too fast, but you caught a glimpse of two figures fighting each other. You remember your father shouting and your mother calling out your name before you lost your consciousness.

Now, you are on the cold surface of the asphalt, away from your father's car that is not too far from you, upturned and burning just like the rest. You figure that your parents may still be inside, burning alongside the upturned vehicle. Somehow, you are unsure what to think of this turn of event due to how sudden it is. Your parents are dead while you survive in the middle of the wreckage. You are still too shocked to react to any of this.

With difficulty, you get up on your feet and observe your surroundings. You are alone, relatively unhurt. But you see dead bodies around you. It seems that you are the only survivor of this event. You just stand there, quietly observing the aftermath of whatever caused this event.

But then, something emerge from the ground around you. A few shadow-like creatures show up, looking at you with their yellow, glowing eyes. You have no time to react to their sudden presence as they pounce towards you, bringing you down to the ground again. All the shadowy creatures are on top of you, and despite your attempt to break free, you are still trapped underneath their bodies. You can feel your body weakening as you continue your struggle.

And then, all those creatures suddenly disappear. You gasp and stay on the ground, panting.

"Gosh, what a terrible sight," you hear a squeaky, high-pitched voice. As you lie on your back, you see a face of a... humanoid, cartoonish-looking mouse looking at you with concern. "Hey, are you alright?"

Normally, people may freak out while seeing a talking humanoid mouse, but for some reasons, when you look at his face, you feel somewhat relieved. You somehow can tell that he was the one who saved you from the shadowy creatures earlier, and he seems to be holding some kind of oddly-shaped sword. There is no edge on it, and there is a crescent moon and a star at the end of it. With a flick of his wrist, the odd-shaped sword vanishes.

The mouse stares at you and blinks.

"The darkness..." He mutters. "You..." Then, he shakes his head. "No matter. We shouldn't stay here any longer. Here, let me help ya," he holds out his gloved hand to you.

Gingerly, you take his hand, and he helps you to get up on your feet. But, the moment you stand up, you immediately fall on your knees. You can feel your strength leaving you, and the mouse immediately catches you before you can fall onto the ground.

"Whoa! Gosh, I think this is all too much for ya," the mouse says, still supporting you with his short body. Then, he smiles. "Don't worry. I'm gonna bring ya outta this place in no time. I'm sure Master Yen Sid knows what is up with ya," he says in reassuring tone. "Now, just relax. Leave everything to me."

Hearing his reassurance, you close your eyes.

"By the way, what's your name?" The mouse asks. "I'm Mickey."

"I... m-my name is..."

[ ] Minato (Male Route)
[ ] Minako (Female Route)

Nodding after hearing you telling him your name, Mickey fishes out some kind of trinket from his pocket, and before you know it, everything is engulfed in light, and with that, you lose your consciousness.

QM's note: This is a reboot for this particular quest. The reason why I lost interest in this quest was because of some real-life issues that I had to deal with, and when I came back to it, a few errors seemed to discourage me to continue the quest. Now that I am free and having nothing better to do, I've decided to once again get into this quest. Also, while I don't mind using Minato, I prefer Minako more.

This time, I'll make sure to keep myself motivated for this quest, and if there are a few things that need to be corrected, please tell me. I'd like to make sure to be consistent here, and your participation is paramount in making sure that this quest is alive and well. So, please vote, everyone! Also, please be noted that the Final Mix signifies that this quest is a reboot.

For this quest, I fixed the continuity error by having Mickey travel between worlds using Star Shard instead of a Gummi Ship. I'm not quite sure if Disney Castle already got access to Gummi Blocks before Ansem discovered them (read Ansem's Report 7), so right now I'm playing it safe.

[X] Minako (Female Route)

The female route of p3 was superior to the male route.

Dive Into the Heart

Day: 0

You are sinking.

You have no idea where you are, but you are sinking. It feels like you're sinking into an ocean, but you are not drowning. There is no sensation of your lung being filled with water. You are unsure how you manage to not drown despite the fact that you are continuously sinking into the unknown depth of the ocean. It feels weird, as if everything that is happening to you is just a mere dream.

As you continue going down, you try to remember what had happened to you previously. You recalled finding yourself the only survivor of an incident, but all the details are blurry. You remember a maiden clad in white, shooting bullets from her fingers, fighting some kind of black-and-silver monster with no visible limbs.

Then, you stop. For a while, you are on your back, lying on some kind of cold, glass-like surface. After that, you pick yourself up, getting up on your feet. Everything around you is filled with darkness. For some reason, the darkness feels... familiar. Normally, a child would be terrified if left alone in the darkness, but you don't feel the fear. The darkness around you wraps around your own body, clinging to your whole being like an armor. You feel safer, much secure. For the briefest of moment, you see a young boy, sitting alone in the darkness, hugging his own knees to his chest. His eyes are closed. A long, yellow scarf can be seen wrapped around his neck.

Despite the comfort from the darkness, you still can't see anything. You can't even see your own hands. The only thing that you are certain right now is that you are standing on some kind of glass floor.

As you continue to wander aimlessly, you see something appearing from the darkness. It is small and glowing with faint azure light, leaving glowing sparkles as it flies.

A blue butterfly.

You stare at the flying insect curiously, and when it comes closer to you, you hold out your hand, and the blue butterfly perches on your knuckle. You blink, looking at the strange butterfly curiously.

I am thou...

You hear a faint voice which comes from nowhere. The blue butterfly flies away and disappears.

Thou art I...

The floor below your feet starts glowing before everything around you is engulfed in bright azure light, accompanied by countless blue butterflies flying away.

I am the Mask that dwells within the realm of the Awake and Slumber...

When the light finally fades, you find yourself standing on a platform of some kind, floating alone in the sea of void. In the middle of the platform made of glass is the face of a mask. The right side of the mask is colored light blue while the left side is dark blue. Surrounding the mask is a ring of butterfly symbols, which each butterfly is made of two heart symbols. The whole platform is colored in varying shades of blue.

From the Sea of thy Soul, I come forth to brave adversity.

Four orbs of light appear around you before each orb turns into a card. The four cards circle around you, and each of them pulsing with warm velvety glow.

Choose thy gift.

[ ] Ace of Cup: Element of water. Represents emotions and love. A symbol of wisdom and spirituality.

[ ] Ace of Wand: Element of fire. Represents creativity and will. A symbol of passion and desire.

[ ] Ace of Coin: Element of earth. Represents material body and possessions. A symbol of wealth and fortune.

[ ] Ace of Sword: Element of air. Represents conviction and reason. A symbol of authority and strength.

You observe all the floating cards around you. It seems that the voice insists you to take one of them. You take your time to decide which one to choose among all these four cards. After making your decision, you hold out your hand and take one of the cards. The moment you pull the card, the three other cards vanish, dissipating into motes of blue light.

As for the card that you have chosen, you look at it as it hovers a few inches above your palm.

The gift shalt be thy blessing and thy curse.

...

The platform starts glowing brighter as you look at the chosen card. Closing your eyes, you bring the card to your chest as it dissolves into motes of light, letting it to be absorbed into your being.

Your whole being is swallowed by the blinding light as your consciousness fades.

Here's the update. I'll follow the original quest closely, but there will be a few changes so that things will be different this time around. The cards will determine our element as well as our magical affinity. Hope you guys enjoy this update, and please, vote for stuff and have some discussions.
