Thought it would be great to see a thread for Katawa Shoujo fanfic's on this site after finding there wasn't one. No idea's just fic's of Katawa Shoujo you have read and think are worth sharing with people on this site. Most KS fic's are on the Katawa Shoujo forum site here where writers will get good feedback and readers looking at their work.
Not to mention a variety of different stories and pseudo routes to check out.
My two suggestions are the following fic's:
Learning to Fly by Eurobeatjester
A pseudo route that focus's on a April Fools dlc character called Saki, who has a condition called Spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA). Eurobeatjester's characterization of her and Hisao is of great quality, tasteful in how it treats the conditions. As well as showing some great knowledge on their conditions. Has built up the relationship between the two nicely, OC's that add to the story (especially for me Chisato whom is a constant source of hilarity as I often comment on for each chapter). Lots of little details that match the quality I think of the VN routes. Lots of commissioned fan art of scenes in the fic and also Act titles like the ones in the VN.
Currently at the end of Act Two, hopefully will be updated soon but author has had health problems in recent months.
Iwanako: Mean Time to Breakdown by Leaty
A route where instead of Hisao being the lead with Arrhythmia. It's Iwanako the girl from the prologue with it instead. Leaty's writing in many places is very precise, filled with lots of very prose words. Iwanako is fleshed out very well so far, complex in ways Hisao wasn't so much. As well as playing very well with the audiences knowledge and expectations of the girls from the VN, often cleverly twisting the context of those scenes and having the outcome be very different to what happens in Act one of the VN.
Has a great soundtrack to go with it, best played after going through the VN first. Not been updated for a while, but Leaty Is very active on the forum and responds to comments very quickly.
There's plenty of other fic's I recommend as well, but will leave them for others to suggest for now. Otherwise this wouldn't be much of a thread eh
