Hi. If you really must argue the morality of Soma, take it to whatever dedicated Danmachi discussion thread exists. QA has yet to do anything to warp his worldview, so it isn't really relevant to this thread. :p

However, I would advise avoiding morality arguments. You generally spend an inordinate amount of time rephrasing the same points in the belief that the other person just isn't quite understanding you properly, but that's seldom the way it works and it's not fun to read. If you aren't making any progress after 1-2 back-and-forths, consider stopping or moving to PMs.

EDIT: Admittedly, we did get an interesting bit on the alien morality of gods in general.

QA needs to HALP more! She's... significantly better adjusted than I'd expect from someone new to civilization, mostly only making faux pass in understanding emotion and minor psychopathic tendencies.

The dungeon's similar enough to a nascent shard right? So despite Host's warning, QA would reasonably feel some kind of kinship to it. Not that she'd stop trying to give it trouble, conflict fosters growth after all, but she'd maybe defend it verbally, especially as the natives seems to consider the dungeon core evil. The adventurers are benefitting from having something to test themselves against, and what is a few insignificant deaths to progress?

People are mean, making fun of the wittle baby shard trying to murder any who enters its domain. So what if it doesn't spew its monsters out aboveground to kill them all? It's trying, and that's good enough, damnit!

She thinks the Dungeon is a Shard Emulator (not an actual shard) that Mother is using to test the ability of the populace to work together toward a common goal.

How disappointed would she be in this scenario if someone told her it used to spew monsters out, almost exterminated all non-dungeon based life, and then got smacked back down to the point it is now?

Hey, by QA's rationale, she has a solid argument. Orario's entire economy and society is based upon the farming of Magic Stones. Adventurers delve into the dungeon, grow by pushing themselves to their limits to develop new and interesting ability, and come out with loot exchanged for money that the Guild may make use of the material, incentivising everyone to perpetuate the process all the more . Truly, :MOTHER: is brilliant. Some of these foolish non-hosts and pseudo-pseudo-hosts could stand to be more appreciative of how neatly the system works.

Familiar little functionally limited emulators they might be, they're still a native lifeform of the spacewhale republic.

I can see two ways lol.

First and most likely, that the mutual progress of it and its opposition fits the criterion for exponential growth, and she should take note observing the successful mini-Cycle in progress. Basically what she's doing now.

Second, and more funny to behold, to jump in the dungeon's defense and start telling adventurers/gods to not ridicule it and "give it time, you'll see!"

I think QA drinking some of Soma's good wine would be a good opportunity for QA and Taylor to switch temporarily. It would be pretty interesting to see Aiz and the others see QA's split personality (from their perspective.) Though it might be a plot point to save for later instead.

QA wont leave the place to Dreamer, she'll just go full on @Abao avatar on everyone. Worse even, she'll probably critic Soma drinks by calling them unrefined and primitives.

Soma's soma sends QA into a dream-like state, and the Dreamer gets booted out, maybe. I could see it being reminiscent of Dragon Age, actually, with Taylor being inordinately confused and bewildered by the real world that does not behave at all like her dreams. An outside perspective might not really notice, though, perhaps just chalking it up to QA being QA and really, really drunk on god-tier wine. Too, QA herself might be just as confused and clueless should she drink it only to find herself in an entire river of wine amidst the Dreamer's dreams. The whole affair might just be some awkward piece with Hestia seemingly inexplicably anxious and acting as if poorly trying to hide something, while the non-dreaming Dreamer compares Soma's craft to her idealised imagination and herself panicking over underage drinking and alcoholic Fates.

Well, of course. They're a pathetically weak acid, non-flammable, need an highly inefficient amount to be poisonous and are a terrible fuel. They can at best be used as bait or as part of an incentive scheme, but even then are limited to a small subtype of meatbags, which there are superior methods available to control.

Would QA really care? jokes on her Fury about how Bad he is adminstrating his familia aside... I think she would side with him on being 100% Focus on his craft heck at best she teach him how to use it on his favor idk taming monster with soma? To make more profic or some nonsence

Wanna see how it goes reagarless

A small, exotic, harmless looking Friend that draws traits from its owner. One of Lili's primary identifying traits is her magic, which she uses to be the same person except as a different race, basically putting on a magic hat. You know what this means?

Perfect.
Fun fact: We all know that there has to be something lurking under that cute and fluffy exterior, but if you read into the lore the reality is even more eldritch than that. Kirby is, canonically, a planet-busting god-monster who has repeatedly punched out his universe's equivalents of Cthulhu, Nyarlathotep, and Yog-Sothoth and may, in fact, be some kind of primordial expression of his universe's metaphysics. So, yes, that's a perfect shape for a Friend.

It might actually go the opposite way. Shards are designed to use humans as innovators, and to figure out new methods of using their abilities. QA may feel that Soma is making a newborn level mistake in simply repeatedly iterating on the same method rather than trying to innovate. Admittedly QA's idea of innovating when it comes to wine probably involves toxins that could wipe entire floors of the dungeon, or liquid mind control.

QA has existed for multiple Cycles, she is far from new to civilization. Just not used to being a part of one.

So, to continue Lovecraftian analogy, Kirby is Azathoth.

That is basically like Freya deliberately hitting mortals with the full force of her Charm and then getting upset when they fall under its power and deciding that since no-one can resist her Charm, mortals must therefore not really care about anything, because if they really cared about something then they would be able to resist her Charm.
Alternatively, she could conclude that mortal free will doesn't really matter, and that she can involve herself in people's lives however she wants.
...Is that so far from what she does?

Argh, 4K words and only about half done. Might fill in some holes and just post the first half as a chapter tomorrow. I wanted to do it all at once, but apparently that was a bit too ambitious. It probably works as a chapter divide anyway.

Heh, QA critiquing him not on the quality of his wine, but because he only makes wine. While QA might mean other poisons or explosives, I could see Soma being inspired to branch out into beers, meads, ciders and such.

Kirby is also meant to be really young, so Baby Azathoth.

Accidental peptalk from QA to Soma:
"Hmm. Not bad for being a limited narrow specialist I suppose. And this is the only thing you make? How are you supposed to get good experimental data if the result is the same every time? Isn't your purview supposed to include plants, medicine, and the moon? I could understand making a few control batches the same way in order to establish a baseline, but I'm surprised you haven't moved on to medicine or novel plants or something."

"Ugh, it's Escalation all over again. How many times do I have to explain that repeating the same thing only more of it is a stupid, inefficient and ineffective methodology. Just because it sometimes works if you do it enough doesn't make it a good idea. Branch out, diversify, that kind of single-focus low-level specialization to the exclusion of all else is for insects."
