I don't know about this. That last bit with the Guild being obstinate about not calling her Queen felt kinda forced and annoying. It felt like one of those 'But thou must choices' in VNs and video games.
Guild. Guild, why? It's clear her culture has specific titles with specific meanings, let her be called by her correct title! Don't just assume you can translate her title better than her!
I'm betting it's because the RULES say "You must treat Kings and Queens in XYZ manner" and by claiming the title Queen QA is tripping that clause.
I'm pretty sure there's at least two or three hidden royalty in canon Danmachi, but they're intentionally concealing that they're royalty just to avoid having the Guild fawn over them and try and keep them out of the Dungeon.

(Extra funny would be if the Rules say "You must host Kings and Queens in the Guild's Tower" and they're trying to avoid putting QA and Hestia up in their fancy apartments)

Wonder how Aiz is taking her new friend being Royalty?

Considering her own state in terms of public perception would this make her feels closer to or more distant...

Ah, I also really hope at some point Hestia discovers the truth about QA and the Entities, or some of it. Figuring out only Taylor was a human and QA is a parasite/symbiote would be great too.
Given they don't have any sort of frame of reference for what Shards are they'd probably reinterpret it as some sort of Spirit/Human hybrid, or even God/Human hybrid where some foreign pantheon also descended like what happened in Orario but instead of forming Familia's they instead started binding their souls to mortals.

On another note, technically the prince/princess can ascend to the throne even if the previous king/queen is alive so long as the abdicate it to them, basically stepping down. this happened very often in japan. There's also things like vassal states. There's also situations where the King/Queen is considered to get their power from another source and those the speakers of that source could be considered a higher authority, such was the situation in Europe with the Divine right to rule and the church interfering with some kingdoms or telling them what they could and couldn't do in some situations. It could also be a situation where the state has multiple divisions of power with the Monarchy just being one, or simply not technically having much if any governing power and leaving things to some other aspect of the state like with modern day England.

QA: Excuse me, it's QUEEN Administrator. I killed a lot of people to get this title and deserved to be called such.

Queen Administrator concentrated on saying the word in human-speech
I wonder what it would have sounded like if she had tried to say Mother and Father in entity-speak? Would the humans or gods have even been able to hear it? I assume if they can remotely perceive it, then the Meaning should largely force itself into their minds.

And I wonder if QA will ever speak of her siblings. Such as Queen Shaper. Actually, do we know any other shards who might be considered a Queen or King in Worm?

Isn't Entity Speak in real space a giant doom laser?

Jack Slash's Broadcast (this one is for entity to entity communication (more efficiently then just having all the Shards use shard speak simultaneously)), Foil's Stinger and Parian's what ever it is comes to mind (those 2 are supposed to be used by Entities to fight each other) along with Eidolon's High Priest. Dragon's Restructuring/Reverse engineering might count and Miss Militia's Arsenal shard is always active even allowing MM to remember her trigger vision plus Faerie Queen's Collector. And Tattletale's Negotiator is implied to have been wired directly with QA when in an Entity kinda like how your eyes are connected directly to your brain.

Host? What are the 'bourgeoisie,' and what do they have do to with Loki's Familia?

<They're all capitalist pigs,>
Host explained sleepily. Or more accurately, failed to explain.

I still don't understand the relevance, Host. Capitalism-produced pigs are yummy.
The answer should be obvious, Queen Administrator. While you have gotten better at reading Taylor's memories you must have taken an off turn. Bourgeoisie must obviously be a kind of pork-filled pastry, and the Loki Familia are all secretly chefs. They feel Hestia shouldn't have been making snacks; as a goddess she should have been making fancy, high-quality snacks. :p
The goddess quickly looked up. "Not that im unhappy about being told!
Minor mistake. Shoudl be: I'm
Queen Administrator sighed to express exasperation and sent a quick message to her sister current partner: Host
Aww. That's adorable.
"It's Queen Administrator! Queen! I earned that title and I'll not have it stolen over a, a technicality!"

"So you're the highest authority among your people, then?" an infuriating human Guild representative, Alexander, asked.

"...There are two higher," Queen Administrator admitted. "My—" Queen Administrator concentrated on saying the word in human-speech. "—Parents."
If only Administrator had been better at navigating the convoluted paths of illogical human languages. Then she could have explained that it was an allegorical title. She is the highest authority, within her sphere of knowledge/specialization. Sort of. At least it might be a sufficient comparison. Of course, they would probably still ignore her due to them just thinking politics instead of a society of scholars, but at least she would have given it a good try.

Harvest is a waste of a good concept that just leachs of the work of other shards not a monarch.
Not really. It's necessary in order for the retrieval of shards at the end of the cycle. The entities would be able to do so without it, but they'd basically have to go and hack them all in person rather than just calling them all back. This is only headcanon though so it's possible I'm completely wrong.

Harvest was such a waste of a perfectly good Concept. She could have been a Queen by now if she noted the ways different powers interacted with one another and created new powers from the results. Instead, Harvest only leeched off the hard-earned knowledge of her siblings.

I think that this setting might be a little AU from worm.

So, the Monarch-worthy shards in actual Worm could be a matter of debate, but Queen Objective (Leet's shard) and Queen Shaper (Panacea's shard) are, IIRC, the only other ones shown in Splintered/Sanctioned. I don't have time to check my notes right now to see if there were any others.

EDIT: Anyway, there'll probably be a second update this evening, albeit one that's darker than usual*. Merry Christmas Eve, everyone!

*Dreamer is working on fixing this. She doesn't like the temporary genre shift any more than you do.

Lol this makes leet sound even more pathetic. He literally had a monarch shard and ended up nothing more than a joke villan whose tech never works. This kinda makes me want to read an AU though where leet is actually competent. That sounds like it would be pretty fun.

Another thing that QA should be pointing out about the Princess thing is that the Prince/Princess nomenclature implies structured hierarchy and heritability of titular authority, which is very much not how it works. Yes, there are two entities higher in authority, but A) they're both dead, B) it's not possible for any individual or set of individual of Monarch rank to take up their mantles, C) no given Monarch rank individual is promoted by any process other than meritorious technocratic ascension (they prove themselves worthy) and D) when two Monarchs are in conflict, the individual with higher topic-applicable expertise supercedes.

These people are making wildly erroneous assumptions about how monarchies work, and the hilarity is that there's historical cultural examples of societies that had a large number of kings/queens with a small number of "high kings". The Irish, British, and Scottish going back more than a thousand years ago, and then you had the Jarls of the Norse regions with their Democratic assemblies of kings (Things).

This Guild rep is a putz.

Wonder what other little tidbits QA could drop about shards that take on a whole new meaning when personified.

Her parents view her and her siblings as a means to an end that can be discarded at any time.

Their encouraged to try and subjugate each other.

Each one is intentionally crippled by their parents to prevent dissent or uprising.

Lol, I was just wondering if revealing how many other 'Queens' there were would help or hinder QA's position. It's sounding like it'd only reinforce the Guild's preconception of "actually princess" though.

Pretty much. The problem is that they're assuming structured heritability of autocratic sovereignty where none exists.

Host, please modify any future spacial manipulation powers granted so that everything I say will be the truth.

Also, I'd just like to say, QA and Taylor's frequent interactions with each other are one of my favourite parts of this fic. I quote the above in particular, because I like seeing how confident QA is that Taylor will back her up on certain power-related things when it really matters.

Maybe... But Riveria exists so who even knows.

Further complicating matters was the fact that Queen Administrator recused to give give them a satisfactory answer as to her origin.
I'm not sure if you actually meant "recused" or "refused" here. Also double "give".
A) they're both dead
QA doesn't know that and neither does Taylor, I believe.
B) it's not possible for any individual or set of individual of Monarch rank to take up their mantles
We don't know that.
sigh. another "lets get adopted by hestia" danmachi fanfic.
If you don't like it, don't read it. Or is this you trying to live up to your name?

Which is weird, since Hestia explicitly was going to say that they're a society of scholars and used that word.

What they need to realize is that this isn't nationalistic politics, it's Scholastic politics.
Entity = Dean
Queen = Tenured Professor / PHD Grad
Shard = Professor / Masters student
Newborn = Undergrad

QA doesn't know that and neither does Taylor, I believe.

We don't know that.
I might be confusing timelines here. But the thing with collections of Monarchs we definitely do know. An Entity is more than just a collection of shards -- it's a collection with critical structure. Short of specialized outside interference, no collection of any number of shards can simply become an Entity unless they are born from / structured by outside influence (such as another Entity). There's certain shards entities never give away, and killing those shards kills the entity. QA, as highly integral as she is, isn't on that list.
