Hello everyone, this is Levelgap. Welcome to my new rewrite of Isekai Vtuber, a story I posted a long time ago on FFnet HERE.
As to why I am rewriting this one... well, I actually forgot my plans for the story. It has become a mess since I started introducing the supernatural in that story.
This one, I think I might focus more on the Vtubing aspect than the other shenanigans. I have a lot of things I want to change to the original story like how I thoroughly underestimated image tracking technology and making a lot of wrong assumptions when I first start that story. I don't know what equipments actual Vtubers use so most of the details I put in there are incredibly wrong and just reading those parts makes me want to dig a hole and hide myself forever.
Now, I will try to correct this mistake.

Year 2035. It was the year said to be the peak of Virtual Entertainers. Since 2019, Virtual YouTubers have taken the world by storm. Their uniqueness, quirkiness, and being in virtual avatars that were appealing to the eyes endeared them to the majority of the masses. Real-life influencers and even celebrities were quickly overtaken by these Virtual Entertainers.
The ones who led them were termed Vtubers. Streamers using virtual avatars like rigged 2D images that they could interact with their tracking technology. Due to the sudden prosperity of the world, issues in the real world became such a non-issue that most people acquired relative peace, which made most of the population crave entertainment, which added to the reason why the influence of Vtubers grew to this size.
This is the current state of the world. A peaceful world where people prefer these entertainers in the shell of virtual avatars instead of real-life entertainers. None could compete against them; even giant entertainment companies followed along with the trend.
Of course, there were still negatives even for this. Vtubing in general became a viable way of living. The original point of Vtubing which was simply giving smiles and joy to the viewers, turned into the most competitive celebrity battle behind the scenes. Competition is fierce when it comes to gaining popularity, and most companies encourage this kind of behavior so they can profit off more from people who watch these Vtubers.
In this tumultuous landscape that is the wider Vtubing scene, another one joins them. Though different than these people, this one is not doing this to become popular or to bring happiness to the people around the world.
No, she is doing this out of desperation.
Because Hoshimachi Ayumi will become homeless if she doesn't do this.
Thankfully, her newfound power will help her with her problems. She just has to stream as a Vtuber. "Aaaaah! Embarrassing, so embarrassing!"
The young girl currently burying her head from her pillows within this dark room is none other than Hoshimachi Ayumi. Currently thirteen years old, this girl is living by herself after essentially being neglected by the people who legally act as her guardian.
She raised her face and gazed at the only source of light within this dimly lit, dark room. It was the monitor of her computer that showed a browser currently tabbed to YouTube, the most popular video sharing site in the entire world.
The orbs of her eyes slowly turned up, looking up at what should normally be empty air. Though within her eyes, there was something reflected on it. It was a virtual panel of some kind reminiscent of an RPG status panel. Within that panel was her current Status.
Seeing the lack of points from her status made her frown. Her eyes turning misty as she was close to tears at this display before she shook her head out of her negative thoughts.
"It's okay... I just uploaded my introduction video. It's not like someone will watch me immediately after I upload a video, right?"
She stops rolling around her bed and stays like that, hugging her pillow as she stares at her room. The whole room is very messy. There are empty cups of instant noodles, plastic wrappers, and empty bottles spread all around the room.
She knew it was unsanitary, but she was used to this kind of lifestyle. It wasn't like she recently became a shut-in. She had twenty years of experience with this kind of life.
That might be baffling to hear when she was currently thirteen years old, but that was only to her current body. The soul residing within this girl was an old female shut-in in her past life who suddenly woke up in this body after another week-long marathon of gaming in her former life. After learning the predicament of the original owner of this body before she took over, she panicked.
She had no interpersonal skills. Her social skills were close to none. Now she was forced to live alone without the support of her parents. It would be impossible because Ayumi's original parents were already dead, and only her selfish and neglectful uncles and aunts became her legal guardians.
She clutched her pillows as she recalled the despair she felt at that thought. If not for the cheat ability that showed itself before she wallowed in her own misery and misfortune, she might have considered suicide.
'So long as I have this power, I still have a chance...'
That was what she thought. She had no confidence in herself. This power was like water in a desert for her. It was a crutch to what she considered her pathetic and useless life.
"I hope someone watches my video. It will be bad if no one watches it."
It would truly be bad as she had splurged all of her money to start her Vtubing career. The softwares were a lot expensive than she expected it to be. Rigging softwares alone costs 4,800 Yen for a monthly subscription alone, and she only had 20,000 Yen in her balance.
Still, she managed it. Only a thousand yen was left on her account after she was done with her purchase. After that, she used her middling knowledge of content creation and edited it before she posted her introduction video on YouTube.
'Please... let me have at least one viewer.'
She clasped her fingers together in a strong prayer.
Maybe due to this, the world answered with a new panel appearing in her vision with a small digital sound, causing her to perk up as she gazed at it.

She stared at it for a moment before instantly sitting up and then raising her arms in excitement.
"Finally!"
This is what she has been waiting for. Someone to at least view her video. Her cheat ability has already given her a tutorial, so she knows what it means.
Whenever someone views her video, she will acquire a View Point (VP). With VP she can increase a point on one of her status scores. The amount of VP she needs depends on how much score that specific status has.
For example, if her Physique has 1 point in it, she only needs 1 VP to increase it by one point. If she has 2 points in her Physique score, then she will need 2 VP for it, and so on.
Though even if that was the case, the initial cost for her to upgrade any of her status was 1 VP, so she couldn't really upgrade all of it even with their status score being zero.
She wants a VP because she wants to upgrade one of her statuses. There is one part of her status that she wants to increase as soon as possible.

"Yes!"
Talent. That is what needs more than anything. Her system has given her a brief overview of what each of her statuses entails, and she knows that Talent is a lot more important to her than anything else right now.
Charisma might be able to help her gain more viewers, but she is not ready for the world to see her fumble and embarrass herself. She wants to be seen as competent because doing otherwise will make her die of shame.
With that new addition to her status, she now feels a bit confident to do her very first stream. She is not doing so after her introduction video because she isn't confident in her own capabilities.
She originally planned to wait for more views so she could increase her Talent to ten at least, but she is feeling restless. She feels like she is not taking her situation seriously, just lying on her bed and waiting for her introduction video to do everything for her.
"I have to be strong and stop myself from feeling embarrassed. If I have to start streaming, I have to do it right!" She clenched her fist and looked at the ceilings, encouraging her shy self from the next action she would take.
She took a long breath and then exhaled. After that, her gaze pointed sharply on her monitor, and with a quickness that almost made her stumble, she left her bed and moved towards her chair. She took a seat and then moved her mouse, the cursor on her screen hovering towards the option where she could start her stream.
She had already made the necessary preparations for it. The only thing left was her own courage to actually start it. She gulped as she stared at the screen before she hardened her heart and then opened her OBS that she installed and paid for so she could use all of its functions.
After overlaying her virtual avatar with another software and connecting it to her OBS, repositioning her camera so it would point on her face, and then making some tests to verify whether her virtual avatar was moving along with her facial movements, she nodded before hitting the "Start Streaming" button on her streaming software.
After that, she fake coughed, took a deep breath, and then smiled before she started.
"Hello, this is Sakaguchi Kotomi desu!~"
Already, she felt her body crumbling at this act alone.
With this being a prologue, I think I can leave this chapter as short for now. I promise I will make something longer on the next chapter. It will involve her actually streaming after all.
So to those who read it, you already know what her first stream will be about, but to those who don't, a little spoiler. She will be playing a game. Look forward to that because I'll be changing some stuff to it.
Anyway, I decided to rewrite this because someone requested for a continuation, and I don't think I can really continue the old version I made of this. Though I think to myself, if I am going to return to my roots anyway, why not write one of the stories that I genuinely enjoy writing in the past?
Isekai Vtuber is one of the stories that I really love writing. I don't know why I like it. I just have a lot of fun each time I write it. Well, it becomes too much I got derailed by the actual purpose of the story. I will try to hold myself back from including supernatural stuff again...
That just means this story will more or less focus on her Vtubing side, so expect a lot of internet shenanigans.
