The Immaterium may be infinite, but the expanse of the multiverse is on another level entirely. Take the role of a Chaos God, spread your influence to strange new worlds, and vie for power with your fellow Ruinous Powers in the newest and grandest theater of the Great Game.
I: A Strange Discovery

Addemup

This grill is not METAAAAAAAL
It is known by many names. The Realm of Chaos. The Empyrean. The Warp. The Immaterium. For uncountable aeons, it has dominated the material realms it is linked to, regularly consuming entire planets into its dark and terrible belly. It is ruled by four incomprehensible Chaos Gods, lording over their lessers, striving and plotting to put a final end to all threats against their power. And for some time now, it has been in disarray.

Not to say the Realm of Chaos has never been chaotic, of course - Since time immemorial, the four foremost Chaos Gods have been locked in an eternal contest, a Great Game which can never be won. But as of late, this particular chaos is unlike any it has ever experienced before... a chaos spawned from the threat of the unknown.

The Architect of Fate, in his unquenchable thirst for more mortals to manipulate, has pierced the outer edges of the Immaterium, opening his eyes to a vast expanse far larger and more varied than everything he or the others had already encountered. There were worlds where none knew of violence, death or plague; worlds where vast, bountiful realms flowed with riches beyond compare; and worlds which were mere pawns beholden to threats unthinkable to the mortal mind, some even more powerful than the Lord of Change himself. Tzeentch could only observe these myriad realms from afar, for his power was much weakened beyond the Realm of Chaos, and he did not wish to attract attention so early in his grand expedition. It would not be long before the others would follow.

The other three Crowned Gods of the Warp, taking note of his groundbreaking discovery, have sought to make haste and gave their own attempts at piecing the edge of the Warp. Khorne was the first to replicate Tzeentch's success, his minions pouring into the greater void like blood seeping from a fresh wound. Slaanesh, ever desiring more and more ways to experience pleasure, managed to pierce the barrier with a dramatic flourish felt throughout the Empyrean. Nurgle was quite reluctant to follow in his brothers' footsteps - but knowing the advantages they might gain over him convinced the Lord of Decay to eat away at the barrier, turning the afflicted portion into a necrotic sore before it split open and spewing cosmic bile into the great void beyond.

Knowledge of the greater multiverse has flowed into the Immaterium, intriguing the daemons with tales of wonder and making them ever more eager to venture out in service to their masters. Not one of the four Crowned Ones has yet to enter a universe, all knowing that the moment one of them makes the first move a new era of untold strife will begin. It is only a matter of time, however.

The lesser gods, many and varied as they might be, have all taken note of the Crowned Ones' activities. As of yet none of them have followed in their superiors' stead, each of the ever-enticing Exodus Gates closely guarded by their respective Power. There are many who are uninterested in the wider multiverse, but just as many are more than eager to venture out, perhaps gaining the upper hand against the Crowned Ones and establishing a foothold before any of the Four are able to. A lofty goal, but possible, nonetheless.

It is these circumstances into which you find yourself placed. You are a Chaos God, whether it be one of the Crowned Ones or a lesser entity, and your goal is to corrupt the vast masses of the multiverse into worshipping you and following your ways. It will be hard at first, given the extreme difficulty of projecting your influence onto worlds which were never meant to receive it, but in due time the breath of the multiverse may fall under your beck and call.

[] Chaos God:

-[] Khorne, the Blood God

No matter how much the others may deny it, Khorne knows within himself that it is he who is the most powerful of the Crowned Ones. War is a far greater constant in the mortal realms than anything else, after all, and every drop of blood ever shed throughout the four Material universes empowers you to ever greater heights. Why shouldn't you take this opportunity to prove yourself the better of your siblings?

The Blood Gate, so named for its blood red appearance, is notable for being the most heavily guarded by a long stretch. Untold numbers of daemons and cultists, along with innumerable amounts of corrupted voidfleets and other weapons of war, line the rim of the massive Exodus Gate eager to unleash their bloodlust onto any force who would be foolish enough to so much as pass by them. Conquest and slaughter is the main goal of your Exodus, and in an infinitely variable multiverse there will never be a shortage of glory.

-[] Tzeentch, the Changer of Ways

It was Tzeentch who first discovered the Barrier. Always curious and ambitious, he carefully chipped away at the outer edge of the Empyrean, spending considerable effort on making sure not to break too much lest the hole grow out of control in a destructive cascade. It took a very long time, not quantifiable in terms understandable to mortals, but in the end you were able to send a part of yourself to perceive the other side.

The Door of Mysteries is not so much a circular hole like the other Gates, but instead a swirling cacophony of geometry and angles which change every time an outside observer so much as shifts to the side. Outclassed in size by Slaanesh and in defenses by Khorne, in all respects other than aesthetics Tzeentch's gate is not outstanding in any way. The Architect of Fate is a cunning god, on the other hand, and it might not prove so difficult to undermine the operations of the other Crowned Ones in the wider multiverse. Weaving complex threads of intrigue and sabotage are child's play to you, after all.

-[] Nurgle, the Plague Lord

Grandfather Nurgle was the last of the Crowned Gods to create an Exodus Portal. It took a very long time, perhaps even longer than it took Tzeentch to make it wide enough for you to begin perceiving the worlds beyond, but remembering an old Terran proverb, you think to yourself: "slow and steady wins the race." You intend to be the embodiment of this proverb.

The Great Pustule, a small, garish thing compared to the other Gates, is primarily guarded by a large number of Great Unclean Ones, along with a number of ex-Imperium battleships with a careful eye on whatever happens to draw near. It isn't much more attended to than the other Exodus Gates, but it'll do for what you're trying to accomplish.

-[] Slaanesh, the Dark Prince

Slaanesh is always the last among his peers. He was the last of them to be born in a certain sense, he often gets the short end of the stick in terms of influence over the mortal realms, and when once-in-a-millennium alliances form between Chaos Gods they most often target either Khorne or you. Whether this is truth or merely the exaggerations conjured by the Prince of Pleasure's jealousy towards his siblings is anyone's guess - the nature of Chaos renders it quite difficult for outsiders to separate fact from fiction. Even you aren't too sure of the details; after all, your being is somewhat split between the worlds connected to the very Realm of Chaos you inhabit.

The discovery of the wider multiverse may bring with it a change of fortunes for yours truly. The Ecstasy Way, its rim glowing bright purple with your influence, is by far the largest of the four Exodus Gates, and while distances are somewhat meaningless within the Immaterium you may still find a way to take advantage of this.

-[] Lesser God

In addition to the Crowned Gods who hold the lion's share of power and influence, the Warp plays host to innumerable minor deities spawned from the minds of mortals throughout all four universes. Malal, Cegorach, Gork and Mork, Hashut, the Horned Rat and so many others with names unpronounceable with mortal tongues - or even lacking mortal worshipers altogether. Given time, the discovery may prove to be invaluable to you and you will surely swell in power, perhaps matching or even surpassing the Crowned Gods in might and prowess.

Note that only the Crowned Gods have actually explored the wider multiverse. Instead of planting the seeds of your essence in a world, you first task would be to either get past the security surrounding one of the four Exodus Gates (a difficult task by any measure), or piece the barrier separating the Warp from everything else and establish an Exodus Gate of your own. Either way, it will be a challenge unlike any other you have faced before.

- - -

It would be unwise for you to pick a world at random and barge in - even Khorne knows to plan before a battle, after all. Of the innumerable worlds you have explored (or heard of, it you are a lesser God) five in particular stand out as ideal targets for initiating your influence. It is wise to remember, however, that any choice you do not make will be chosen by another Ruinous Power.

[] Starting World:

-[] The Light Mirror of Fantasy

Descriptions and details of this world bring to mind the world of Mallus - an unimportant world in UA by all means, save for it being the focal point of Chaos's activities within said universe. Like Mallus, this world contains a plethora of races, numerous deities who often interfere with the mortal world through proxies, a great deal of magic and monsters, and even a continental layout similar to the Fated Place. There seems to be a special ontological focus on a region roughly equivalent to western Bretonnia, often referred to by its mortal inhabitants as the "Sword Coast". A strange world indeed.

-[] Iron Knights in Eternal Conflict

This world, or at least the important part of it, consists of several hundred star systems arranged in a ring around... a version of the "sacred" capital world of the Imperium of Man in U3. At the most ontologically important point in the timeline this sphere is split between five factions, each one fielding massive humanoid mechanical warriors akin to the Imperium's Knights battle against each other in a seemingly eternal struggle. Humans appear to be the sole form of intelligent life here, but if you seek to deign it with your presence it will not remain such for very long.

-[] Multifaceted Interweaving Facade

This world, on the surface, is no different than the dreaded Imperium of Man's own Terra as it was in the distant past. However, this world has a secret - many of them, in fact, interlocking and meshing together into a veritable web of secret societies. Politicking vampires who carry on the ancient bloodline of the mythical Caine, werewolves protecting the serenity of nature from the encroaching industry of humankind, reality-bending mages locked in a centuries-long conflict between tradition and modernity, and so many more fill the world to the brim with supernatural beings relegated to legend among the vast majority of its population. It is a world of darkness, no doubt, but it's nothing you can't handle.

-[] Dualistic Pseudopsyker Battling

This world is the farthest of the five listed, in terms of pseudodistance, from the Realm of Chaos that you are all too familiar with. It is a vast galaxy, filled with thousands of inhabited planets and untold trillions of individuals, both human and alien. At one point, it was governed by a noble Republic, who over the millennia grew corrupt and ineffective before it was overthrown by an order of malevolent psykers - or at least, that's the best way you can describe them. An Empire then ruled for a number of years, before it too was defeated by an alliance of rebels who sought to restore the ideals of their forefathers. But this did not mean all was safe, and for many years afterwards this New Republic fought with remnants of the deceased imperial Order, along with a number of new threats which sought to upend the entire galaxy. Perhaps you might like to be one of them?

-[] Celestial Order in a Primordial Sea

In some ways, this world reminds you of home. Forged through the herculean efforts of primordial entities cut from a similar cloth as your own kind, this world is a grand realm of creation home to larger-than-life heroes and malefic threats gnawing at its edges. In theory it is governed by a celestial bureaucracy, but in recent years it has grown inept and unable to react to the chaotic changes occurring within the mortal realm. A world of grand deeds and grand people... perhaps the perfect world for you to stick your tendrils in.

And here we have my return to quest making. I plan on mostly improvising the mechanics, along with making said mechanics rules light. Hope you guys enjoy.

Sweet concept! I'm going with nurgle since I've been re-reading the lords of silence lately I love the sense of existential horror and despair he brings to the table.

Grandpa Nurgle establishes a new empire, the greatest empire! An empire of plagues! Also I know very little about 40K but I know enough to enjoy this quest.

I like the idea of completely disgusting whatever people we stumble across throughout the multiverse.

Maybe I'm strange, but why not throw more strange stuff into the kitchen sink that is World of Darkness? Now I wonder which god: Hashut for the haunted technology potential and all the tasty tasty industrialism, or Slaanesh to have our fingers in all the corrupt elite of the world? Decisions, decision...

Plan Cigar Chomper
-[] Lesser God
--[] Hashut, Father-In-Darkness
-[] Multifaceted Interweaving Facade

Plan Sins of Darkness
-[X] Slaanesh

Arcoding to my knowledgeif better no one chose this one g oing THere is a Terrible Idea that place can Make Warhammer 40k look tame by Comparison
I don't think so. Sure, Solars might be nasty, but Creation is very rich in mystical resources. It's risky, I agree, but potemtial benefits are equally high.

Also, 40k is still worse in many areas, it's a universe in a state of near-unrecoverable death spiral, while Creation is simply very volatile and things can go fantastically right or horribly wrong with equal chances.
