In which JarringToaster attempts to Nuzlocke Pokemon Insurgence

I know, I know, it's all in good fun, man! We just joking around~ :D

Also, PAGE THREE! WOO!

Oh, that explains it! Could you put that back? I'm trying to revive the thread from the brink of death.
No heart for you!

*instead mails over a manatee*

...Oh the hugh manatee!
Semi - on topic, you beat the game, right? Which cult was your favorite?
Got a soft spot for the Darkrai Cult, just 'cause of the opening part of the game.

I've finished up to the currently available content, if that's what you mean. The game makers haven't finished making the game yet.

Edit: Ok, I looked up the releases after typing that. No new story till 1.2, but 1.1.7 was released two days ago! A new delta was added, a delta was redesigned, 3 newly available mega stones (Flygonite, Metagrossite, Mawilite), and a handful of bug fixes. Make sure to pick up the new December Mystery Gift too--Delta Misdreavus (Fairy/Ice with a custom ability).

Part 11: A Tournament Arc that doesn't take Multiple Episodes.
Before we leave the cave, we pick up the fossils that Nora left behind.

I honestly have no idea if this Manaphy statue is relevant or not.

Back to the trainer school!

"It was no problem."
(It's not like 3 Pokemon died while I had to go through that cave looking for her.)

"Today we have new challengers, Damian and J. Hopefully, they will not get completely destroyed by Nora like it happens to everyone else every tournament!"

The first match is fairly easy. So easy, that I honestly forgot what Pokemon the kid used.

In this match, Damian has his evolved Delta Starter. He also has a Corphish and a Luxio. I actually found Damian to be pretty challenging and had to use a few Potions.

"Trust me, that wasn't a shut down."

Actually...if I lost, would the story just have me restart the tournament or would it have Damian move on and go against Nora? I assume if it's the case of the latter, that Nora would beat Damian, because the story kinda likes to metaphorically shit on Damian.

"Be careful Nora. Your ego's showing again."

I ended up beating her. Surprisingly, Damian was much harder than Nora. Her Pokemon consisted of a Trapinch, Sewaddle, and a Bayleef. I guess that having a Ponyta made those last two incredibly easy to beat.

Anyways, after the tournament, the teacher calls Nora and J over to congratulate them, as well as to say how good their battle was.

"The battle between J and I was pretty good too, right?"

(I'd personally like to disagree.)

Damian doesn't get anything for third place, which is to be expected in a tournament where there are two third place people.

"I was quite impressed with your skill, J. If you're headed west, why not stop in Suntouched City? There's a Gym there, led by a young trainer named Orion."

I'm pretty sure I mentioned this before, but I really like the fact that Gyms in this game cover multiple types.

"If you want to be a strong trainer, getting Gym Badges is the key to improving your skills! I highly recommend it!"
"That's what I'm doing, J."

"Context!"
"?"
"... ... ..."
"Nevermind. But I feel more comfortable taking risks and honing my skills. I guess it's a race! You too, uhm... What's your name exactly?"

"My name is Damian."
"Right. Damian. I'll see you both in Suntouched City!"

And with the tournament over, I'm free to leave the city and advance to the next route.

Alternative idea for a Nuzlocke run: All the Pokemon you defeat die too. So rivals have to get new Pokemon every time you defeat them. And you'll have to live with the guilty conscience. :3

...Well you can interpret a Randomized Nuzlocke like that, since the trainers have completely new Pokemon every time you battle them.

Weirdly enough, I looked it up, and even when the game is Randomized, the Pokemon that the trainers use in the tournament is completely fixed.

New quest: There's obviously some necromancy going on, and you need to get in on it. :p

Oh, hey, awesome, this is back! I don't have to joke about it being dead anymore for now.

No heart for you!

...Oh the hugh manatee!
...Will you marry me? Also, yes, I just meant "you've beaten it up to where it currently stops;" it's easier to just say "you beat the game."

Sweet, nobody else died! I know exactly what you mean about the tournament, I've always found the Nora battle easier than the Damien Battle [EDIT: not fixing the capitalization, because awesome]. Weird, huh?

And I just realized - how cool would it be if that was his last name? Damien Battle. That sounds utterly Badass! :D
Though, knowing his mom, his actual surname is probably something like "Abyss" or "Leviathan" or something.

Part 12: The Return of Team Aq— I mean the Abyssal Cult.
Hmmm...What would our encounter be in Route 2? Hopefully it's something useful.

"...I'll take what I can get."

"I have no idea what you're trying to say. Oh well, better train you up!"

"HOW?!"

Well, at least these guys have a new friend.
*Dumps beaver carcass in the box*

We go a little farther into Route 2, and catch up with the plot.

The Abyssal Cult is blocking the way, which means that I have to head up. Also, this is a group of Water-type users. Fantastic.

Further north is the Ancient Ruins, and inside those ruins is where the next encounter that can be used to replace Bidoof is.

I really like the statues used in this game...although I do have several questions about that Manaphy statue back at Midna Mine.

Eh...not the best Pokemon. It'll certainly be leagues better if it can evolve.

It's alright. Further inwards, is plot!

"nowhere to run! Just stop running, Riolu! You're ours now!"
(A Riolu? They're going all this way for a Riolu?)
"What are you doing?!"
(Ah, it's her.)

"Huh? Who daaaaares stand in the way of the Abyssal Cult?!"
"Who daaaaaares to stretch out their words to make themselves seem more dramatic?"

"You two have the best Pokemon we have to offer!"
"Oh yay...Water-types. My favorite."

One battle with Water-types later...

"You didn't hurry up and catch it while we were busy? Wow, you're kinda terrible at this competent cult thing."

...And we'll leave this for the next update, due to image cap. Totally wasn't planned at all.

Funny thing? My first encounter on that route was a Huge Power Marill. I named him Anderson. I don't know why I thought about that, it just seemed appropriate. :p

Also, @Oh I am slain!, I hope you don't mind, but I sigged that thing you said earlier. I like puns, if you couldn't tell by the name. :D

Part 13: Moms Can Mega Evolve While Disregarding Rules.

(Rumors? What's so special about this Lucario?)

"Oh no..."

(It Mega-Evolved?! Without a Mega Stone or a Trainer?)

"Quick, let's get out of here! We can't handle a Mega Lucario!"

And so the Abyssal Cult members run away, hoping that Momma Mega Lucario doesn't come after them and completely maul them.

The Mega Lucario leaves with her baby Riolu, leaving Nora and J all alone in the ruins.

"interesting to explore."
"You weren't sidetracked by the Abyssal Cultists blocking the way to the next route?"
"I'm glad I came in time. Those people were from the Abyssal Cult."
"Yes, purple hair mentioned that earlier. Quite dramatically I might add."
"...From what I can tell, they're pretty similar to Team Aqua from Hoenn. They're trying to capture the legendary Pokemon, Kyogre."
"Please don't tell me they have a plan like flooding the entire region for incredibly weird reasons."

"But I remember reading that it requires a close bond between Trainer and Pokemon. I wonder how that Lucario was able to do it, then?
"Maybe the parental bond counted as a substitute? I don't know. Your guess is as good as mine."
"I need to go research this more. I'll see you around, J. Don't forget- we're still racing to Suntouched City!"

And so we exit, and we're able to advance onwards into the path that the Abyssal Cultists were blocking. At this rate, we—

Roggenrola how could you betray me!

Anyways, we make it into Cyan Cavern. Where there's a couple of trainers, as well as a free Nurse Joy.

"...Well that was anticlimactic. I guess I won't be making it to Suntouched City."

And that's the Nuzlocke Challenge. I failed before I even got to the first Gym. :lol

Consensus: This game is incredibly fun, just don't Nuzlocke it on your first time through unless you really like the challenge or are a masochist. If you haven't bothered to play it, play it anyways.

Thanks to those who bothered to follow this as well as commented. I had a fun time interacting with you guys. Now go home, you're all drunk.

You fool, I'm not you, drunk are! :p

But yeah, that really sucks, man. Ah well. I had fun reading and commenting. Even if you've lost already, you should still play through this game on whatever mode you feel like. It's too fun to pass up.

Also now I feel bad for constantly trying to get you to watch TV. You'd have enjoyed the Rotom, but you never got that far. :(

Well, I'll see you around, I guess.
