It is the 34th Millennium. For more than a hundred centuries The Emperor has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Earth. He is the Master of Mankind by the will of the gods, and master of a million worlds by the might of his inexhaustible armies. He is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with power from the Dark Age of Technology. He is the Carrion Lord of the Imperium for whom a thousand souls are sacrificed every day, so that he may never truly die.
Yet even in his deathless state, the Emperor continues his eternal vigilance. Mighty battlefleets cross the daemon-infested miasma of the Warp, the only route between distant stars, their way lit by the Astronomican, the psychic manifestation of the Emperor's will. Vast armies give battle in his name on uncounted worlds. Greatest among his soldiers are the Adeptus Astartes, the Space Marines, bio-engineered super-warriors. Their comrades in arms are legion: the Imperial Guard and countless planetary defense forces, the ever vigilant Inquisition and the tech-priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from aliens, heretics, mutants - and worse.
To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be re-learned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods.

Greetings from the Cadian Sector I am pleased to report that other than some raiding. Chaos forces have not been been sighted exiting the eye of terror.
also I send this message to request orders from Holy Terra so I can continue my service to the Emperor.

Your promptness is noted, Lord General. Make sure that affairs within your command are as smooth and stable as you present them. Look to your bulwarks and ensure they are well maintained, drill your men so that they may be ready when the Archenemy comes and do not waver in your duty or your faith.
The Emperor Protects.
Thought of the Day: Overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer
Forces of the Kastellan 338th Tank Army being reinforced by Space Wolves on Ur'thos Primus
A minor conflict considering the scale of the Imperium, but nonetheless important to those who fight it to this day. The 338th Army had been scraped together from regiments all over the segmentum which had been otherwise occupied by Marshal Holt in a desperate effort to break the deadlock on the Kastellan Front. While Astenia III desperately holds on galactically south of Cevasia, the Kastellan Front has seen as more profitable to push to the Marshal of the Segmentum, as a string of minor victories in space had lead to a vital wave of reinforcements arriving on Ur'thos, including the Astartes of the Space Wolves Chapter. The sons of Russ, following the tanks of the Kastellan troops, would lead a major battle on the planets radioactive wastes, initially forcing the Ork army based there into a rout, until the Warboss in charge of this particular garrison played his hand; a force of identified ork 'Stompas', carrying exotic melee and ranged weapons, would be set upon the humans. The Space Wolves arrived shortly after the reveal of these miniature titans, managing to bring down several and with the aid of the tanks, cover the withdrawl of the infantry to avoid the attrition warfare that the rapid strike based army had been prepared to avoid at all costs. Marshal Holt's field commanders would prove lackluster in the retreat, however, as a large portion of the tanks deployed to the battle were destroyed by the Ork Stompas, though a combination of Space Wolf Thunderhawks and anti-tank weaponry would bring several of the crude avatars of the Ork gods down, though long-range scanners would indicate of a far larger class of titan approaching from the other side of the hemisphere. Ur'thos Primus, while a dead world, houses a major Imperial fortress from the days of the Great Crusade, and the 338th has withdrawn there to hold out in anticipation for the arrival of Titanicus support.
The siege has, since then, lasted forty-two days, and is still on going.

Ships above the planet of Pendragon in the Cevasia Sector
Two years ago, the amassed fleet of Cevasia Sector, aided by the Cadian 9th Regiment lead by General Nathaniel Marus would be engaged by a colossal speartip of ork warships, including the discovered 'War's Voice', the flagship of Azgor. The initial engagement demonstrated a chance for the Imperium to hold. But the continued brutal ship-to-ship engagement would reveal a secret weapon within Azgor's capital ship. The massive maw of the War's Voice which had initially been mistaken for a battering ram as it hurtled towards the old flagship of the Cevasian fleet, the Indomitas Maxim, would open wide, forming a makeshift jaw and encompassing the spine of the Indomitas, tearing it in half and destroying it. The oaths that bound the Cevasian fleet to its admiral would break upon the death of his ship, and ambitious captains would initiate a collective retreat, scattering Cevasia's fleet and ending the Battle of Kadaval reach and securing the Orks a clean path to Astenia sector.
While Ur'thos remains under siege passing just a Terran standard year, the fires of the galaxy had not been quietened.
Pacificus
An Administratum envoy fleet was struck upon by renegades - a substantial fleet of pirates aided it appears to be by some xenos force - and annihilated bar the lone cruiser, the Vigilant Exchequer, which fled into the warp only to appear above the planet of Nontos IV several months later, most of its crew being killed by the entities within the Warp. This fleet's purpose was allegedly look into the silence of a small cluster of sectors nearing the the Halo Zone.
The continued lack of divulgence of information from the Segmentum overlord has cause uproar in the Senatorum Imperialis, along with the legitimate risk of forces beyond the control of the Imperium taking advantage of this situation.
Since then, the bulk of the Pacificus armada has been dispatched along with an ultimatum towards these 'renegades' as determined by the Segmentum overlord.
Ultimately, the sector remained somewhat faithful to its name, aside from this incident it would be passive in comparison to the wider galaxy.
Tempestus
Information regarding a major resource world, then codenamed Gamma 22-4T was discovered via the efforts of an exploratory probe on behalf of the forges of the Antiqua Sector.
Mars has seen it fit to grant a large boon to the Mechanicum of that region, outwardly supportive of the effort being made in 22-4T as the resource-rich planet has given rise to the interest of potentially discovering a Standard Template Construct on this world, which, seemingly, boasts no native life.
Elsewhere, the Segmentum authority reports minor piracy incidents and the constant ebb and flow of the vastness of the Imperium with tithes especially in such a small region being gradually smaller by the passing cycle.
Segmentum Obscurus
Cadia. The gateway to the Imperium from the Eye of Terror. Having lost a major fortress world in the previous Black Crusade just under a century ago, the Cadian blockade has somewhat stagnated in the past years, each commander following the mistakes of their predecessor in assuming that the Great Enemy was defeated. The lax attitude that Cadia had in these years would catch up and bite them as a major disturbance in the Eye would be detected as a large heretic fleet would out of nowhere burst from the bowels of the warp.
Initial shock would settle and confirmation came - no, this was not the Warmaster come again to bring havoc upon the Imperium, but a sizable warband known as the Burning Sons from the Black Legion had snuck past the temporarily weakened Cadian Gate, and stormed out towards the nearest region of populated space away from the Eye of Terror. While no reports have come from the Cadian defense grid as to invasions or raids, it appears these Sons were met by one of the many Astartes chapters constantly crusading around the rim of the Eye, and presumably met in brutal, close void warfare. The scale of the Chaos fleet however leaves one to assume that these Astartes may need support as quickly as possible.
Segmentum Ultima - Fringes
Scutum IV, a forge world established surprisingly almost out of reach of Imperial authority would find some major successes in finding itself following a tumultuous period of colonization. The Praxin species, a technologically advanced insectoid race harkening upon records of the Chromes and Hrud from old Mechanicus data would prove to be fruitful in providing improvements to the existing fleets and ships of the Ensirex Mechanicus. However, the ease of adaptability that this technology has to Imperial designs has raised some concerned voices within the Fabricator-General's forge, as the risk of breaching the sacred code of the Omnissiah has been raised more than once.
This relative period of relaxation would however be torn away as a sector nearby known as Kytho would be obliterated by an unknown xenos menace emerging from the depths of the Ghoul Stars. A call to arms would be issued by the space marines of the Steel Cobras chapter, who, along with ten other chapters of Astartes were within range to respond this path of destruction wrought by a mysterious entity. The Steel Cobras had passed Scutum Primus a year earlier to refuel and resupply, departing on their crusade into the Ghoul Stars shortly after. While no deep space reports have been made as to what wiped out such a massive portion of freshly colonized space, the chapter master of the Cobras promises that in exchange for support, he will find an answer to this question in the Imperium, along with destroying whatever has caused such mindless chaos in the Ghoul Stars.
Elsewhere, a minor frontier world experiences an abnormal meteor rain…
Segmentum Ultima - Inner Layer
Cevasia Sector, having lost its popular leader, the Prince-Admiral Kassius X to the jaws of an orc warship, would be in mourning naturally, though Kassius' son was found quick to mobilize the sector in preparation for a second orc invasion, and for vengeance against the greenskin. After a coronation marred with the tears of sadness, things would pick up again. His efforts would not be in vain as the various scattered fleets would begin to rally above Illyria in preparation to support his cause, and, only eight months after his request, a new flagship would arrive in orbit of the capital world. The Dominus Nox, a venerable ship from the Great Crusade, which was on its way to being scrapped would be assigned to the Prince-Admiral's command as a new flagship. The vast warship boasts a fierce battery of lances and macro cannons, and substantial amounts of post-construction armouring as a result of its prolonged service as a member of the Iron Hands Legion, even having the Legion's iconography stamped on its prow as a symbol of honour for the ship, despite its crew during those days being all dead. On the exterior, the Dominus proves to be formidable, but inside it shares the curse many older warships have of having vast unused rusted halls and increasingly fragile superstructures as a result of age. This would not be the only visitor to the planet, as an envoy clad in blue power armour arrived shortly after;
By decree of the Master of Macragge, and the successor of the Spiritual Liege, this system is now under the protection of the Ultramarines Chapter until the Ork menace is routed.
Within days, the former command of the Prince-Admiral and his vast entourage of knights and nobles was swept away by the cold pragmatism of the Ultramarines. A fully fledged fleet of blue warships would join the Cevasian elements, bringing fresh Astartes, supplies and more ships from Ultramar's reserves to the forefront. In exchange for such a massive boost the Ultramarines took effective control over the entire navy, with the most stubborn and loyal captains being rather forcefully reprimanded and forced to remain in Cevasian territory while the majority of the fleet would take the offensive. The force commander of this fleet would almost entirely ignore the young Prince-Admiral, dismissing him as just another crony to fold beneath the authority of the Astartes.
While the front around Astenia III, Cevasia and Ur'thos remained relatively stagnant, a major breakthrough into Sub-Segmentum Britannicus would alarm many local authorities and commanders who had sworn to protect Praetoria from the greenskin invasion. Guard commanders and various naval officers scrambled to contain the major breakthrough, though would crumble from the massed push of the Orks, until they were finally stopped at Kustar, where the Praetorian 38th Regiment, with aid from the 100th Hueloci Janissaries, would manage to stop the Ork push lead by the Warboss 'Amma dead in its tracks. Kustar, a Forge World of some prominence within the Sub-Segmentum, would rapidly be reduced to an ashen wasteland of industrial ruin and constant fighting, as the full might of the Legio Gygentus - Kustar's native Titan Legion - was unleashed on the vast fleet of Ork titans and walkers. Elsewhere, cracks in the line of patrol ships would be made by Ork raiders, though nothing on the scale of the Kustar push.
In the Karthago sector, the Satrap would see a period of centralisation and consolidation, as mass imprisonment and execution of rogue traders and smugglers would follow the passing of several controversial bills, as Karthago's monopoly on trade with the resource rich sectors around the Maelstrom would be crystalized. Efforts to consolidate this miniature economic empire would prove to be wholly successful in demonstrating the power that the Sector had in currency over brute strength. The success of the acts would be double-edged, however, as piracy would rampantly increase as ships trying to make extra would utilize the Maelstrom as either a haven or an alternative path to sell their bootlegged goods
