During my recent bout of illness, it occurred to me that the immune system could be compared to a team of government-sponsored assassins or internal security agency of some variety. Given that, I had the 'brilliant' idea to perhaps make a game system to play as them! Of course, some minor liberties are required, and playing as members of the adaptive immune response is probably more fun. Here's some possible ideas for class features.

Natural Killer Cells
-Can spot cells that have been infected and terminate them

Neutrophils
-Weak helper minions, they're major glass cannons

Macrophages
-Big 'tank' class, they've got tons of HP and a massive beat-stick
-Can't gain XP easily, but might not need it.

B Cells
-NPCs who provide plot hooks by either presenting new antigens, or alerting you that an old foe has returned
-Effector B cells can be a player class based around spraying huge clouds of antibodies (rendering them the second shootiest class in the game)
-Can gain XP

Cytotoxic T Cells
-Supercharged Natural Killer Cells, they're major badasses
-Have a restraining bolt which only comes off with specific signals

Helper T Cells
-The game's buff mage, they can improve the stats of friendly immune cells and debuff immune cells that have gone rogue

So, anyone got ideas they might want to work with for this? Perhaps someone could make a stat system and some basic rules? Another question is how far we want to deviate from actual biology in the name of fun. There should probably also be something about what the person you're in is like (such as age, and access to medical care)which influences how the game goes. Maybe later I'll try to stat up Influenza.

Oh, here's a quick crash course on the immune system, for anyone who's interested.
