"I'm, I'm not entirely sure how I got here." You looked thoughtful for a few seconds before continued to speak. "I had been driven into a corner mentally and wanted a way out. My best guess is that my magic made the way out for me."
"Our magic is rather strange."
The man in the shadows leaned back in his seat, his hands coming together as he stared at you. He continued to watch you for a minute, occasionally toying with one of the many objects on his desk. Eventually he spoke up, that cold smile of his still on his face.
"Would your being driven into a corner by chance, have something to do with the demonic magic running through your body?"
"What the hell is up with his voice?"
You slightly stiffened at his words, before giving a nod. You weren't sure how he was aware of the magic, but there would be no point in hiding it if he knew. Nyx also pointed out in the back of your head that when the others arrived and pulled you out of the corner you were glowing.
"I don't know, but is really cool."
"Do not worry about being shunned for anything that happened to you that gave you this magic. Necropolis is a school, and we have quite a few classes designed for the use of demonic magics."
"More of just really creepy."
He abruptly stood, before walking to a large set of doors that you didn't see behind the desk. You saw he made a hand movement for you to follow, which you did. Walking through the doors you found it lead to a balcony, which overlooked the city - school?
"Necropolis is a city and a school. Its original history is lost to time, what is left is what we have found and made. What is known is that the city was made long before any of the current inhabitants found it, though its creators all died from, we believe, a disease. The specifics are unknown to us, but a long time ago some necromancers moved in. With the amount of dead people lying about, the necromancers didn't have to worry about the other necromancers stealing their testing material."
"History!"
You looked out at the city as he started to tell you its history of the city, imagining what kind of civilization had built it. The building were made of stone, like they were rised out of the ground or pulled from the ceiling, with glowing purple crystals embedded into the sides of all the buildings and walls. Many of the buildings had additions that looked like they were added by the current inhabitants, such as the massive dragon skeleton on a building holding a sign saying "Undying Bones"
"That's a cool name."
"Eventually some other people started to move in, thinking that they could make a profit off of the massive amount of necromancers in the area. They recognized that we would run out of bodies eventually, so they set out to sell body parts to those that were willing to pay. It made it easier on them by the fact that they were also harvesting some of the bodies. Their introduction had some mixed responses, with a few outright apposing them and trying to destroy them. Those people quickly died, gave up, or were convinced that they would be beneficial. Many of the necromancers found that it was a useful thing to have them, as they could spend more time studying and experimenting and less time searching for what they need amongst the bodies."
"Sounds like a natural city growth."
You blinked as you heard the words not in your head, but in the outside world. As you were starting to look to see where Nyx was, that being her voice, you noticed the shadows around your body were much darker. The shadows directly under you being so dark it was pitch black, with the shadows rising a little around your body. After a second the shadows settled back down to how they were before.
"I wonder why he's telling us this."
"Indeed it was, shade. Word of the city grew through some of the social circles, leading to more and more people. It wasn't long before some novices arrived, and the older necromancers started to point things out to them. Eventually I arrived and started to organize the novices' lessons, leading to this place becoming a school. We have all grown due to it becoming a school, as when surrounded by colleagues we can share notes, and advance our work. As time went on, others had started to learn of this place. They came here, seeing Necropolis as a place where the masses wouldn't be able to prosecute them. With these new additions, we started to learn and teach more then just necromancy. Most magics that are considered "Dark" by the ministry can be learned here, along with many other magics."
You watched as he went back inside, before sitting at his desk once more. Following him you sat back in your seat, watching him continue to do things with the objects on his desk.
"He has a lot of glowing things."
"I guess from the robes you are wearing, I would say you are a student at Hogwarts. Given your demonic magic and age, you are Alice, correct?"
You nodded at his question. He once again leaned back, putting his hands together with his fingertips touching their opposing fingertip. He stared at you for a few seconds, before speaking again.
"I will be honest, your presence here is intriguing. You pased through a great many wards, protecting not just the city, but also the building and my guest quarters. You did all of that, and went by completely unnoticed by every alarm, though they do seem to have register that it happened. I am curious about you, and would enjoy to see what you can do."
You saw him wave his hand, sending all of the items on his desk back to their shelves . With another wave a large book and pieces of paper, not parchment, came over, along with a pen.
"I would like to give you an offer. The school year has just begun, so it would be no trouble slipping you into some of our classes for people your age. You would be given an apartment to work out of, where anything of yours could stay. I would also get some of my people to retrieve your items from Hogwarts. Alternatively, if you wish to leave, you can. I will have people escort you back to your school and let you go. Ether way, I will be watching to see what you become, for you have great potential."
"So that's why he gave us the school's history."
Reaching forward he pushes the pages to you, them being registration forms.
"This is an interesting turn of events."
"What do you say? Take your time to think about it, and do speak with your Shade if you need advice. Also, if you have any questions, do ask."
So, that was a long as hell update. It went in some directions that I wasn't originally planing, like with that history lesson. Either way I'm putting this here to make sure that people notice it.
This is a chance that you will not get to change until much latter. IF YOU STAY YOU CAN ONLY GO BACK TO HOGWARTS AT THE END OF THE YEAR! IF YOU CHOOSE TO STAY IT WILL BE SOMETHING THAT YOU CAN NOT TURN BACK ON FOR QUITE A WHILE.
Also, if you have any questions for either the Headmaster or Nyx, ask in the comments. I will answer as them, so if theres anything that you want to know now is the time to ask.
So, what do you say?
