"Hydra has returned, My Lord. Sources claim they are more powerful than ever."
A harsh, inhuman laugh echoed through the darkened throne room. "Hydra? Why should I care about them? The fools failed to amount to anything even with the power of a cosmic artifact," came a cold voice. "Let SHIELD worry about the trash."
"My Lord, our sources say that Hydra has already compromised SHIELD. Even the Avengers, with the probable exception of Captain Rogers, are likely unreliable. We may have to act directly."
"I suppose there's no chance of dropping this in Richardson's lap?"
"No My Lord. There are a minimum of three infiltrators in his staff. One is in Mutsu's medical group."
A groan. "And they would use her twins' lives as leverage. Damn." A pair of luminous yellow eyes, flecked with burning shards of Cerenkov blue, snapped open. "They will feel the fury of the Dark Side for this affront. So swears Erebus, Dark Lord of the Sith."

"They what?!" roared Nagato. "I'll beat the bastards to death with their own skulls!"
"Calm yourself dārin. The twins will be fine. Now come, Yamato is assembling the Fleet," my mechanical voice rasped. "And don't run off after Hydra. You've got a keel on the slip too and I don't want either of you hurt." Sociopathic Dark Sider I may be, but I can still care, even if I have to work at it!
The beautiful battleship nodded "Understood. Though I do not like feeling helpless while my family is in danger."
"I know, but battleships are not the most subtle of people and in this, subtlety is key. This will be dealt with by submarines and destroyers, but rest assured that you and Mutsu will get to have your fun with Hydra's moron-in-chief." A sadistic smirk formed on my face. "Don't forget to consult Doctor Anderson before hand. A Fate Worse Than Death is always the most fun."
The smirk turned into a warm smile as Nagato gave an uncharacteristic giggle. "I will make sure of it. Don't want them dying before they can regret challenging the Big Seven."
A five minute walk brought us to the base's briefing room, where the rest of the shipgirls had been gathered. The auditorium-sized room was filled to capacity by girls ranging from seven--destroyer escorts--to twenty-five--battleships and fleet carriers--all of whom were sending looks of disgust at the emblem projected by the holo-display. The glares directed at it by the hand-full of German girls were downright murderous. Nagato and I made our way to the podium next to the display, the battleship taking a seat at the control panel.
"I'm not going to sugarcoat this girls. Hydra is active again. SHIELD is compromised, so we will have to involve ourselves to send them back to the trash-heap of history. This will of course eat into our anti-Abyssal operations, but their actions could very well harm the war effort and they are in a position to threaten the lives of three of our own. Mutsu and her twins are at risk from the Nazi scum who have infiltrated Admiral Richardson's command. This threat shall not be tolerated and shall be countered with extreme prejudice!" I paused as the assembled ships shouted their approval before continuing. "Albie and Archie will return to Sasebo to warn the Kanmusu there. Tenryuu, you will inform Kongo and the others at Yokosuka. Until we can sweep for bugs and traitors, Richardson and Goto are not to be included in you briefs. This for their safety, rather than a lack of trust in them mind you. Iku and Hachi, the two of you will be recon duty. Hydra had numerous vessels under their command and either retain them as steel hulls or have Summoned them as Kanmusu. Keep an eye out for them and any submerged bases they might have. Same ROE as with the Abyssals; hit targets of opportunity and report everything. Hornet will lead a response force comprised of DesDiv6, Taffy 3 and New Jersey." The loud cheering from the fifteen American girls made a brief interruption before Missouri reined them in. Shaking my head, I continued "Intel is working on locating Hydra's land assets and isolating agents. Once we have them pinned down, we'll hit them wit an assault to make Downfall look anemic." After a third round of cheering I finish "Give'em hell girls. Dismissed."
