How would a socialist Earth interact with the Star Trek Galaxy?

Inspired by this thread I saw from last year: How would a Socialist Systems Alliance interact with the Mass Effect Galaxy?

If there was a copy of Earth where the planet was united under a communist government and developed warp travel during the TNG era and makes contact with the rest of the galaxy how would they interact with it? Would they consider the Federation to be a valid Socialist state?

In general I would think that would depend somewhat on the make up and culture of the Earth SSR. Broadly speaking when we get views on the Federation from the outside they don't really get into the economics. It's things like the Klingons thinking the Federation is soft, Quark viewing them as bubbly, what have you. People in that thread overegged things but the Romulans are going to give even less of a shit about how it's run.

I doubt that the Federation would be considered a 'valid' socialist state but equally the Federation would tend to think of the Earth SSR as basically quaint and invite them to sign up.
