So we have had the official poster out since May 31:

But the reason I'm starting this thread is because the official trailer comes out today:

So looking at old articles that may or may not contain hints as to what will happen:
Article:
As [Cressida Cowell] described the bidding war over the rights (one television bid in particular would have seen the dragons played by dogs in prosthesis), identified her favourite characters (Hiccup and Stoic being the most faithfully recreated onscreen), and explained her lack of a screenwriter credit on the adaptation itself (she didn't want to confuse the two very different takes on the same story), she also revealed that the books' endgame will be shared by the trilogy of films.

And since my only contact with HTTYD is through the movies, I had to go look it up and:
In the epilogue of the last book, Hiccup is crowned king and builds a new kingdom where humans and dragons can live in peace, but when he is an old man, the dragons go into hiding and hibernate to stay safe from humans, though Toothless stay with him. Hiccup also instructs some dude to perpetuate that his whole story was just a myth.
Welp, that's a pretty bad ending, I really hope they change it.
She's a girl dragon, and you can tell because she's untextured, white, and cutesy. :/
Yeah, can't fault you there. I thought "really?" when I saw the female Night Fury.

DreamWorks throwing down the gauntlet with Disney. And while I have to say that I love a lot of Disney movies nothing brings tears to my eyes as quickly as hearing "Test Drive". It's just so beautiful.

Screw Infinity War, this and Wreck-It-Ralph are the ones that are gonna punch me in ALL the feels.

I like that she smacks Toothless the hell up like an aggrieved cat. That was a nice touch.

I can tell some people might be a bit upset with the whole "Light fury can teleport" bit, but there are already Telepathic dragons out there...so its not that far fetched..
Also, some people have theorised that its partially aquatic, because of the fin and a slight resemblence to a beluga whale...
not sure if its true, probably not, but it would be interesting to see...

I wasn't thinking of it as teleporting so much as using the flare of the shot and the smoke to smokescreen her getaway. Guess it could be teleporting but think that smokescreen would be a more interesting use of the shot.

Honestly, I think *all* dragons are telepathic, or at least telempathic. It neatly explains a lot of stuff, such as how easily they can divine human intents, or the uncanny synchronization between Toothless & Hiccup that allows them to fly the way they do, and of course the whole Alphas-can-control-the-brood thing.

EDIT:
Also March 1 2019 is FOREVER AWAY :(

Yeah.
and then there are the Foreverwings...
"The Foreverwing is capable of telepathy and according to Rise of Berk, it shares a special, nearly telepathic connection with Hiccup, though why or how this is done is unknown."
I've heard people get upset because they say that the series is "introducing magic" but to be honest it seemed like there was already magic, just not that extravagant..

Edit:

this seems plausable

Would have been funny if they'd gone the AD&D Red Dragon rout instead. The females are the ones who go looking for a mate, complete with multiple ones fighting over particularly desirable males (which means in the case of reds, ones with a lot of gold, better than normal magic abilities, or just exceptionally badass), in battles that lay waste to the countryside.
