Your mother is a pirate.
Not just any pirate, either. Your mother is Captain Peries Proudclad, one of the most notorious, one of the most dangerous pirates in the Seven Skies. Well ... was. She was executed the day after you started middle school, but before that, notorious and dangerous.
Her surviving crew compensated your father in the usual manner and you live quite comfortably on Kuta, the world of your birth. You aren't the only pirate orphan on Kuta, but you are outnumbered by the sons and daughters of living pirates. Technically speaking Kuta is administered, like all worlds in the Traverse, by the Velkan Empire, but in practice the local governor is so plied with bribes that this rarely matters. The children of the galaxy's pirates live an idyllic life on a band of lush tropical islands set against clear sapphire seas, most of them students at Pelegosto Academy.
Like you. Pelegosto is a real school, even if its curriculum goes a little beyond the norm. Its curriculum mirrors the aerospace academies that teach noble children to become space pilots and starship captains, preparing its graduates to join their parents in the Seven Skies.
Not so much you. Still, you do your best. No point going into the real world with bad grades. Speaking of which, what was your last report card like ...

Reputations -
The Palmtop Typhoon: Reportedly, Ashleigh Proudclad was involved in the destruction of a criminal organisation and several buildings, and it only took him a couple of hours! Even though he's so small!
Tendencies -
Patience for Shitheads: Ashleigh won't generally brush people off, even if he doesn't like them or thinks they're wasting his time.
It Doesn't Matter If You Shoot First, Just That You Win: In conflicts, Ashleigh doesn't feel the need to escalate, but does like to finish things decisively.
Lying Liar Who Lies (A Little) Less: Ashleigh has learned that honesty gets you surprisingly far when it's the right situation.
Ashleigh Proudclad and the Search for More Booty: So lewd.
If You Do Something Stupid And Win, That's Heroism: There's something fun about pointless grandstanding!
