"Madoka is smarter than she looks you know," she explained. "From just two of your first meetings she already diagnosed you with symptoms of sociopathy."
Huh...The thing is I would totally expect Madoka to treat someone the same as always even if she knew that someone was a sociopath.

[X] Ask if you can talk to Sayaka and Madoka

maybe me, just a bit.

Not just you.

Remember when I talked about Sayaka having Plot Armor, and you guys responded with her having epically bad Luck?

Well Sayaka just avoided almost all of the negative consequences of her actions. She just straight up attacked an injured cripple out of nowhere, and instead of any kind of punishment or having to give some kind of compensation, is just getting therapy.

Because Oriko decided not to press charges.

Despite it being Homura that was attacked.

And Homura conveniently passed out during this time period out of nowhere, and the players were not allowed to exert any agency over this.

Seriously how the hell is Oriko the one who gets to decide whether to press charges? Homura is independently wealthy enough to throw several grand as a signing bonus to an assassin who tried to kill her. Who still somehow managed to be someone we recruited instead of being persistently irritated with.

This is not the luck of character with epically awful luck. Peter Parker has worse luck than this. This is a character who appears to have the informed attribute of awful luck, and selective protection of the authors who only let certain bad things happen to her.

She Madoka, what else did you expect?

That's mostly my fault since I write every single update with minor or major adjustments by LD, sorry bout that.

Because Madoka has fantastic luck and spent six hours arguing with Oriko about it. Getting Madoka as a friend was literally the biggest windfall to ever happen to Sayaka.

that's a fair point, and if you decide to press charges, that's up to you.

Wait guys, I have a totally reasonable way for Sayaka to pay for her crimes.

We almost lost an arm because of her... THUS she must work as our replacement arm. I.E we get her tied to our arm, THUS EXTENDING OUR REACH AND GIVING US THREE ARMS!

9/10 Equipping Sayaka is great plan. Now we just need three more people and we'll be Voltron (We're the head of course!)

I literally did not see this coming.:wtf:

Yeah, I get ya. Homura just gets horrible defense rolls sometimes.

Also, I'm starting to think maybe these rolls should be made public or rolled on SC, because at first I thought there weren't any rolls until the one with the squirrel, and now these are apparently happening behind the scenes, and are justifying things after the fact?

Because Madoka has fantastic luck and spent six hours arguing with Oriko about it.

Did Oriko seriously have nothing else to do today but listen to the girl pleading for leniency on her criminal and mentally unstable friend?

that's a fair point, and if you decide to press charges, that's up to you.

As it should be. But what concerns me is that apparently you guys can look at this situation with Homura going unconscious, Sayaka getting off the hook, and Oriko making the decision for us and think, "Yep, this is a totally reasonable course of action." At least until called on it.

I find that what people take for granted and don't think about, says a lot more about them than the things they take the time to explain. So this trend for Sayaka and how her actions are judged is rather worrying. At this rate Sayaka isn't going to be Ash; she's going to be Wesley Crusher or Scrappy Doo.

Yep, I guess I just messed it up didn't I?

they've always happened, since the witch fight at the very beginning.

Wait there's rolls in this quest? I honestly thought we were just going off narrative.

Kind of, yeah. Probably gonna need an Author's Saving Throw.

Yeah...I think it would help for people to actually see the rolls going on, if you're gonna use them.

Yeah remember we had those XX% chance things every now and then?

Admittedly I can't quite figure out what made those #'s or a good idea of the underlining mechanics, and especially how the dice relate to the new changed stat system...
mostly they're a way of determining "how well does X action go". Homura has a distressing habit of getting the bare minimum possible to not die on her defense rolls.

Nonsense. The negative consequences are that Sayaka has pissed off SV, and we're controlling the main character. Said main character can stop time, was trained as an Executor by the church, is rich as hell, has a sniper in her pocket, has a psychic friend, and is a sociopath that enjoys eating Mapo Tofu. Now obviously, killing Sayaka right out is likely a bad idea, since Madoka is the daughter of the ultimate life form. But arranging her death in a manner that doesn't obviously connect back to us? That is very much something we can do.

So yeah, terrible luck.

Just gonna stick myself in the firing line by saying that I have absolutely no problem with Sayaka and her chainsaw and find this whole situation to be rather amusing.

Sayaka already got one Get-Out-Of-Jail-Free card, apparently on account of Madoka being good luck, and I would bet on this trend continuing for as long as there is plausible deniability.

Not really. Madoka even said that it would be absurd to charge Sayaka for attempted murder considering that her chainsaw can vanish at will.

The therapy is not a slap on the wrist type of punishment. It's a precaution so that Sayaka's mental state gets better so she doesn't try that again. Whether it actually works is another issue entirely.

Well what were we gonna do, tell the courts that she attacked the invisible manifestation of our soul with a magic chainsaw?

If we can't trick Sayaka into pulling it out on camera with her hair-trigger temper, then we aren't trying.

I much prefer the precaution of, "If you try attack me like that again, my assassin shoots you until you die." Which is entirely fair considering Sayaka's attempted murder. Frankly the warning is more than she deserves.
