The perfect calm of an evening at home was disrupted by a simple ding from her cell phone. Diana Burnwood had been enjoying a glass of wine and the latest New York Times bestseller on her sofa, the sounds of the city below muffled by the bulletproof glass she'd had put in. She slipped a flap of the dust jacket into her current page and picked up the phone.

>>Contract Assigned.

Time to go to work. She set her book down and crossed the living room to her to her office, where an impressive array of monitors and keyboards were arranged. The little hub from which she saw everything. She flicked the notification from her phone towards the desk, and watched it appear on one of the screens. Files began to download and organize themselves, pouring away from the packet, screens switching on one after another. Two photographs, taken from the passport office, dominated the middle screen; a blonde woman with short hair kept buzzed close to the scalp on the right-hand side, and a black-haired, portly middle aged man.

If all went according to plan, they'd be dead in 24 hours. She clicked through the assembled dossiers, skimming the contents and picking up the main points. Who these people were, what they'd done, why thye were marked for death. She nodded along. The contract was just, the payments were waiting, and the targets were en-route to their final resting place. The professional handler picked her phone back up and tapped out a quick message.

Good morning, 47.<<
Wheels up at 3:35.<<

You arrive at the private airstrip at 3:00 sharp, as the mechanic was making their last minute checks. You would handle the takeoff and the landing, of course, but efficiency was everything. The woman hands you the clipboard and states that the tiny plane is all set, and the flight plan has already been programmed. Alberta, Canada.

You take off at 3:30, leaving the small strip of Italian countryside behind you as you go. After half an hour at the controls, you let the autopilot take over and return to the cabin, sparsely decorated. A table set out before a simple chair, facing an unpowered HDTV screen. Once you took your seat, however, the electronic flickered to life. A map of the world, tracing your flight path from Italy to Canada. Diana's familiar voice comes on over the intercom, prerecorded briefing underway.

"Good morning, 47. Your destination is the Whitetail Alpine Resort in Alberta, Canada. Your first target is Nikita Orleva, current gold-winning olympic athlete. During the previous two winter olympics, Nikita took the competition by storm, taking home gold medals in Cross Country Skiing, Downhill Skiing, Freestyle Skiing, Nordic Combined Skiing, the Ski Jump and the Biathalon." The first target appears on screen now; she looks to be in her late twenties, with a hard-set face, her blonde hair kept buzzed close to the left side of her head. Clips of her accepting her gold medals play on the edges of the screen, along with a few news headlines. The word 'Doping' features repeatedly.

"Nikita has been investigated by the olympic committee for suspected performance enhancing procedures, and a proper inquiry was never filed. That is the handiwork of her coach, Mikhail Volkov." The image shifts; he's a middle aged man, pudgy and red faced. He's seen celebrating with Nikita after the Biathalon competition, as well as training alongside her. "Mikhail Volkov was an olympian himself before suddenly retiring due to injury. He's served as an Olympic consultant and coach for the Russian commission ever since, and has had an impressive streak of winners under his belt...while others competing in the same field have had difficulties."

You see hospital reports for other olympic hopefuls from around the world, dating back twenty years. Accidents, scandals, sudden resignations...all during years when Mikhail's pupils had won gold.

"The client is a member of the Chinese Olympic Committee. The authorities attempted to launch a probe into the Russian's training program, but the investigation was thrown out due to botched work by the officials. Said officials recieved a tidy sum of money in their bank accounts the night before." The graphics shifted aside, revealing the world map, which brought itself to focus in on Canada. An aerial shot appeared of the large outdoor sporting area, backed up against the rocky mountains, with a state of the art private resort near the base of the hill.

"Orleva will most likely spend her days on the slopes, while Volkov enjoys the resort. You will need to assassinate both targets before extracting in whatever matter you see fit. A reservation has been placed at the desk under your usual alias for use as an alibi. Best of luck, 47. I will leave you to prepare. And I assure you that once you've completed your assignment, it will all be downhill from there." The screen blinks out, leaving you alone with a plane cabin filled with tools.

That's the job then. You have several hours until you touch down in Alberta, so you'll need to prepare. First, Diana's prepared dossiers on the targets have been forwarded to your tablet to peruse, as well as information about the resort.

Age: 25
Birthplace: Vladivostok, Russia

Biography: Nikita was a born athlete straight out of elementary school, driven by a highly competitive mother and father. Her childhood medical records show that she had overdeveloped muscle mass, while having dangerously low bodyfat. In her academic life, she was a poor student propped up by her capacity to compete. Despite individual assignments being rated poorly by teachers across the spectrum, Nikita somehow managed to stay in athletic pursuits.

Orleva was recruited out of high school, and has competed in three olympic games. Her first year, she placed brone in downhill skiing and held no other medals. Orleva didnt' stay in the country for the remainder of the games and returned straight to Russia the next day. This was when she met Volkov. Orleva's public medical records end here, save for the squeaky clean official release to the IOC every year. Drug tests have also come back positive, though Orleva had been carrying a perscription for anti-depressants which didn't show up in the tox-screening. This finding was never made public.

Around other athletes, Orleva has been described as, to put it politely, intense. She frequently antagonizes other athletes, be they from her own country or others, and has refused to make public interviews or appearances as an athlete in her home country. She resides in a one bedroom apartment in St. Petersburg, and has been estranged from her family since entering Volkov's coaching.
Age: 56
Birthplace: St. Petersburg, Russia

Mikhail Volkov was born the son of Dimitri Volkov, a KGB agent with a specialized background in intelligence gathering and blackmail. During his school years, he was a promising runner and was recruited to the Russian Olympic Track and Field team. However, during a meet in 1994, he collided with another racer and fractured his kneecap beyond repair. The other racer suffered a concussion that rendered them unconscious, and they were later found unconscious in their hospital room. Volkov had been recovering in the same hospital.

Volkov went into his father's line of work in National Security for a few years, before leaving government work behind in 1999. He returned to the Russian Olympic Commision as a private coach for up and coming swimmer Natalia Zimu. Since then, Volkov has taken many young athletes under his wings, each with an impressive win record. Volkov's share of any winnings they recieve is hefty, but some would argue deserved.

Through the years, rising competitors against Volkov's current athletes have been inexplicably underperforming, making for easy victories. One such exception was Mariah Young, an American figure skater who beat Volkov's pupil in 2010. After arriving back in the United States, Young was greeted with the news that her boyfriend had been killed during a breaking an entering. Young never competed again.

Volkov took Orleva under his wing after the 2012 winter olympics, after his previous pupil had retired. The two frequently travel to various ski resorts across the globe to practice her craft, constituting most of Orleva's public appearances. However, individuals matching their descriptions have been spotted in Bangkok, China, Japan and Argentina. We believe that Volkov has been taking Orleva to have medical procedures done to her, though to what end we do not know.

Second, you'll need to establish what you'll be taking with you. Your luggage was already en-route to Canada and would be waiting when you arrived, but these would be the tools you'd have with you for certain. Time to make your choice.

[[[Pick Three Items to smuggle in on your person]]]

[ ] Garotte Wire: Simple, elegant, concealable. Allows for the quick strangulation of a target by crushing the windpipe, but requires you get close enough to loop it around their neck. Additionally, its quite obvious what's happened when someone walks in on you strangling someone with fiber wire.

[ ] ICA Silverballer: Lightweight, silenced pistol. Has a clip of nine rounds, with two clips in reserve, and can be easily concealed beneath heavy clothing. However, it could be detected by metal detectors, or a frisk, and there's no reasonable way to explain holding a gun in a private resort.

[ ] Emetic Poison Vial: A vial of emetic poison. This poison causes extreme nausea when consumed, and may be used to disable or isolate a target. You have to be able to dose them with something they ingest, however; the poison cannot be inhaled or spread through physical contact.

[ ] Lockpick: A reliable way of silently breaking into a locked room. You may draw suspicion if caught fiddling with a lock, but you may be able to pass it off as struggling with keys. They do not work on electronically locked doors

[ ] ICA Remote Breaching Charge: This shaped charge may kill at extremely short range, but its true purpose is to forcibly unlock doors, safes, or any other obstacle in your way. Comes in a set of two. Can also be used to trigger a larger explosion, if you can find the material necessary. Liable to be detected during a frisk.

[ ] Coins: ICA branded coins, developed specifically to clink as loudly as possible, sealed in a soundproof bag. Perfect for distractions. Terrible for armed combat. Comes with four coins in a pouch.

Hello, and welcome to Hitman: Convergence, my attempt at working good contract assassination into quest format.

My aim is to provide a wide variety of options for you to use to accomplish your missions, but that'll also require some creativity on your part. Write-ins for options are generally encouraged when appropriate. If you've not played a Hitman game before, your goal is to use whatever means necessary to get close to your target and assassinate them, with as few casualties as possible.

For instance, you may want to sneak back stage during a broadway performance, which would require you to find and knock out a cast member, steal their costume and put it on to get close to your target. Or you may decide you need to hide something in a heating vent and go to find a janitor's closet to get a screwdriver.

Debate the best course of action amongst yourselves, but I will also provide some basic suggestions around the place. Such as 'investigate the haunted house' or 'investigate the bakery' or 'listen to the conversations the two theme park mascots are having'

Overall, this'll be sorta experimental, but I hope you all have fun with it.

Black Ice: Arrival
Lockpick
Coins [x4]
Emetic Poison [x1]

You arrive in Canada around noon, where Diana has already arranged for a shuttle to take you up to Whitetail Resort. You're sharing this bus with a few college students off for spring, a family of five with some surprisingly well behaved children, and a man you think you recognize as a professional snowboarder. The trip takes about two hours through the scenic, snowy mountains, watching the others pass the time. You keep yourself occupied with running scenarios in your mind. Where to start, how to proceed, how to adapt when things take a turn.

When you arrive, its about three in the afternoon. A vast expanse of snowy terrain, leading up the slopes of the mountain, covered in brightly covered shapes zippiing downhill. A set of chairlifts stretches to the top of the slope, too far for you to make out from here. There are also a few small structures dotting the slope, set up by the resort for medical purposes or corporate obligations. You swear you make out the starbucks logo in the distance.

Down at the base of the mountain, there's the grand, four story hotel building, a faux palace of wooden logs that one might describe as whimsical. You wouldn't know. What you do see, however, is that there are plenty of other small buildings at the base of this mountain, with restaurants, sporting equipment stores, and a museum visible from here. You also see a mountain lake, a flat, placid expanse of ice. About half of the lake has been roped off, with figures seated around holes in the surface of the lake with fishing poles. Some of them even had tents erected around them. The other half is currently being attended to by a Zamboni, though on the far side a few skaters have ventured out onto the lake.

"Forty Seven." You hear Diana's voice in your ear. "Establishing visuals...cough and turn your face to the right if you're reading me." You oblige, stepping away from the bus stop as you do. "Excellent. Welcome to Alberta. Your targets checked into the Whitetail Ski Resort last night, so I assume they're still enjoying the facilities. We've placed a reservation under your name, and we've requisitioned some winter sportswear for you. You'll find it in your room should you have need of it. I'll leave you to it."

The line cuts off, and you're free to make your own decisions now.

-[ ] Proceed towards the hotel.
-[ ] Proceed towards the shops.
-[ ] Proceed towards the frozen lake.
-[ ] Proceed towards the hill.
-[ ] Other

[[[GM Notes: Please select a plan of action and elaborate upon it. The more decisions you make, the longer the update and the more progress you will make. For instance, you could decide to Proceed towards the shops and visit the Museum to learn about the area. Or you could proceed towards the hotel and wait around the lobby to gather information. The choice is yours.]]]
