I decided that I'm going to have my scientist study an astrological body BUT it's something that we haven't identified in the real world. I'm no good at physics so I don't know what kind of new astrological body I can make up. Does anybody have ideas for a fictional celestial body? Like something in the class of a quasar or a pulsar or a black hole

I think OP is underestimating how deeply weird (and frankly, dangerous) some known-to-be-existent astronomical bodies are.
Like, for example, a pair of neutron stars in a decaying orbit with each other -- they would be spinning around each other so damn fast that they would be really obviously undergoing time dilation, and when they finally smash into each other, the shockwave flash of light would be so energetic it would sterilize a large fraction of the galaxy it was in.
