2nd attempt at a quest where you film a miniseries.

You are Zachary Rowsdower, novice TV producer and you have just been hired by HBO. With the success of Game of Thrones, despite its lackluster final season, HBO wants a followup miniseries to make bank on. It's up to you to choose a fictional property, cast it, adapt it, and direct it successfully. First, though, you need to pick a work of fiction (preferably a lengthy one), and buy it off the author.

[]TL-191: Harry Turtledove's biggest work, concerning a world where the South won the Civil War, extending from the 1880s to the end of their version of WWII. Should be cheap to license and requires little CGI.

[]Worldwar: Harry Turtledove's other work, concerning an alien invasion during WWII. This will be harder to film, as the aliens show up a lot and will require extensive CGI. However, you can mostly film this in the US or Canada.

[]Destroyermen: A WWII scifi story, where a pair of obsolete destroyers find themselves in a world where the dinosaurs never died helping the locals in a brutal war as well as fighting the Japanese who followed them. Crazy idea, but will also require extensive CGI, as well as filming in the tropics. Or Florida, if you're cheap.

[]Worm: A big online sensation, this dark superhero story will take forever to complete and might depress viewers, but it has a huge built in fanbase online. Which also means they're likely to start flamewars and send hatemail.

[]Write-in: There's plenty of fiction out there to adapt.

[X] Write In: The Warrior Trilogy: A series based of a trilogy of books that take place in the universe of a sci-fi wargame that's been around since the late 80's. Will be pricey if you go the live action route due to the mechs being CGI.

[X]Write-in: A Game of What Ifs: A Series based on the whole concept of "What Ifs" associating with A Song of Ice and Fire (and The Game of Thrones), many of these can come from fanfiction (or be inspired from them).

Might as well create a Mini-Series based on a "What If" Concept mixed with ASOIAF/GOT, showing different "Worlds", how and when the stories were conceived (with a claimer on who made it), and other trivia of the books.

Additionally, getting George R.R. Martin to look at the ideas surrounding them would be beneficial and allows him to create an answer (if he wants to in the form of making episodes he chooses to do.)

Voting closed, and we have a tie! Now, this may annoy people, but I'm choosing Destroyermen as I own all the books and can reference them. I'll have the next turn up as soon as I dig up my books.

Initial decisions
You easily buy the rights to the book series from the author, Taylor Anderson. Now, you need to figure some stuff out. The first issue is nudity. Now, there are scenes of nudity within the book. One is that the natives of the new world the human characters find themselves in do not wear shirts, so the women are barebreasted. Now, the natives are also descendants of lemurs, so they're also furry. So, do you really want the CGI animators to make a bunch of furry tits? This would attract a certain audience but might also alienate some.
[]Furry breasts are ok
[]Maybe not

The second is where to film. Most of the initial part of the series takes place in Indonesia, so you could just go there and film. However, that would be expensive and dangerous, given the state of the area. Another option is to go to the Philippines, there's plenty of areas there that could be used. This would be less expensive and safer, but you'd have to deal with an unstable foreign government. The final option is the Americas. Parts of Florida and the Caribbean could be used, as well as costal areas of Mexico. This would be relatively cheap and easy, but might not come across as authentic.
[]Indonesia
[]Philippines
[]America

The final issue is CGI. Now, there are a lot of areas where you'll have to use motion capture and CGI, he question is how much. The first is minimal, that means only the Lemurians and their enemies the Grik will be CGI, everything else will be real. This is the most expensive option, as you'll need to build a lot of sets and possibly even a ship. The second is average CGI. This means that ship battles will be CGI instead of models like the original Star Wars. It would be cheaper, but parts would look more fake. The final option is extensive CGI, where ships, cities, characters and even sets will be CGI, giving a very false appearance, but being cheapest.

[X] Plan: It's more fun in the Philippines.

PH is very America friendly and you can just bribe government officials. The insurgents can be a problem but a big budget American film would get the local police or armed forces to keep track of it.

When is the mini-series being made anyways, like, what year?

This plan works good enough. No furry tits for a wider audience, the Philippines are fairly safe and don't cost a lot.

I would like to go for Minimal CGI but with how obscure the show is and how we're not quite rolling in piles of dough just aiming for something that will be regarded as pretty good is better then doing something risky and great.

Casting call
Time to cast your miniseries! The first season should cover the first book or couple of books, so you'll need to cast a few characters. There are entirely too many characters in the novel to cast well known actors for, so some will just be filled by newbies. Let's begin!

Captain Matthew Reddy: The main character, so to speak, Captain Reddy is an upstanding man with a deep sense of duty as well as right and wrong. He is 32, brown haired, and from Texas. He is a member of the USNR and Captain of USS Walker (DD-163).

A/N: I got a lot of these from IMDB, as I'm not up on actors. Since this is a TV show, some of these people may be unknown to the mainstream.

Know this may be abandoned but it came up in "similar threads" and I found it a neat concept
there's a good chance my votes arent by any means good casting calls, but I'm curious how shuffling things about may go
