I flew across the waves, skimming over them at speed. At my current rate it would take me less than half a day to reach the town that my Captain had selected. He was a younger man, but he had fighting spirit. Well, I supposed he did. It isn't like I saw any action...
My engines roared as I dashed towards my target, but I wasn't focused on that. What... was I? I slowed, and considered my current situation. The Abyssals had come, and moored to the dock I couldn't do anything but watch as they destroyed the city I was born to protect. I sunk without a crew. But I had sunk much of the fleet that was responsible for this crime. My P-270s preformed well, and without their carrier the remnants of the fleet would be likely destroyed by the glorious Soviet Air Forces!
Wait, didn't the Soviet Union collapse? Didn't matter, they would be destroyed by the glorious Russian Air Forces!
I pressed on.
It was surprisingly boring. Still, I had a duty to my country. My radars, powerful enough to detect even the stealthiest of American ships, were sweeping the area for any targets.
Nothing.
I arrived at the town before dusk. It was average size, around 2500 people.
It was... interesting.
There were no boats at port, and little activity.
I came near the shore, not sure how to actually get onto the ground.
My legs should work, but how do humans even use these things?
My captain jumped off of me, and swam onto the beach. He got up, and began gesturing towards his legs, and waving for me to follow.
I got closer, and took a cautious step onto the beach. And tripped.
Sand and water filled my face, and I jerked up and watch as my captain clapped.
He then began making motions with his legs, picking himself up and walking.
I crawler, hands grabbing at the beach and dragging me onto the sand.
My captain motioned for me to take a step.
I picked my self up slowly, and felt a sudden lightness as my wings and engines vanished.
I jumped to the side in shock, and spun around trying to find them.
Turning, I looked at my captain who was walking further inland.
"Oh you little-"
And so the chase was on.
Embarrassingly he beat me.
"Captain, oh captain!"
"Over here!"
I dashed towards him, but found him standing in a abandoned gas station.
He gestured towards it.
I signed and ripped a part of a pump, not sure how to restock.
My captain simply shook his head.
He then took a piece of it and bit it.
I shrugged and began eating it, ignoring his stares.
Then, I moved into the station.
There wasn't much, this place had been emptied.
I left the gas station and investigated the rest of the town. All empty.
There were no weapons craters, the people here simply left everything behind.
Like how my nation left me behind.
