Location
Marianas Trench
The sea was calm, waves smoothly rolling onto the beach.

The sky was quiet, no storm clouds in sight.

But there was no peace. Fire raged across the shore, and the shattered bodies of ships and aircraft were cast onto the beach where they were sunk.

When the enemy had come, they had come in force. My motherland hadn't seen it fit to provide to such a small city with even a small naval defense force, too focused on the more important areas to the north west. And while that choice made some degree of sense, it did not change the end result.

The "Abyssals" came, and without resistance obliterated most of the city in a hour. And I could do nothing but sit and watch.

Now that wasn't a issue.

I felt my engines begin to warm up, jets of flame shooting from them.

I began to glide over the waves, slowly gaining speed.

Those monsters were still out there, and while they might think they were out of range, they were wrong.

They did not suspect that I would come back.

I rocketed forward, leaping from the water on wings made of fire.

2 Hours Later.

The Wo class in charge of the assault force looked over her fleet.

They had done massive damage to the humans, fitting price for their crimes.

She looked up, Radar detecting something.

A small object was approaching at high speed.

Was it a human aircraft?

A missile?

Planes were launched in response, each tiny machine carrying enough weapons to shred a modern interceptor at close range.

Then bombers were launched, to find and destroy the carrier that launched it. The admiralty would reward her greatly for removing the sole aircraft carrier in the area.

Multiple destroyers raced forward to greet the object.

One of them stopped and stared in shock.

Then exploded.

Wo covered her eyes before looked at the remains.

A DD was split in half, the object gone.

"How!?!"

"FIRE!"

The fleet opened up, lines of fire streaking towards another approaching object.

None of it hit.

The object, a fighter sized rocket shaped vehicle shot forth and impacted a cruiser with the force of a battleships main gun.

She screamed and fell, the other ships breaking formation.

Wo's planes reported several more objects incoming.

"Missiles..."

Wo released that these were missiles. But human missiles couldn't hit them unless lucky.

This was impossib-

Another object flew through the air, followed by 2 more.

One impacted Wo, and she screeched in pain.

Then another missile flew into her, and the screams stopped.

I grinned.

My Moskits proved to be effective, the dumb things not even getting to see me before most were sunk!

But with only one Moskit left, my choices were limited.

I need to find some place to resupply.

There were several options in the form of a few naval bases and towns.

I asked my captain too pick.

He picked a town.

I rolled my eyes, something told me he wouldn't be picking up any ladies, whatever he meant by that.

Interesting if rather short and low on detale. I look forward to more.

I flew across the waves, skimming over them at speed. At my current rate it would take me less than half a day to reach the town that my Captain had selected. He was a younger man, but he had fighting spirit. Well, I supposed he did. It isn't like I saw any action...

My engines roared as I dashed towards my target, but I wasn't focused on that. What... was I? I slowed, and considered my current situation. The Abyssals had come, and moored to the dock I couldn't do anything but watch as they destroyed the city I was born to protect. I sunk without a crew. But I had sunk much of the fleet that was responsible for this crime. My P-270s preformed well, and without their carrier the remnants of the fleet would be likely destroyed by the glorious Soviet Air Forces!

Wait, didn't the Soviet Union collapse? Didn't matter, they would be destroyed by the glorious Russian Air Forces!

I pressed on.

It was surprisingly boring. Still, I had a duty to my country. My radars, powerful enough to detect even the stealthiest of American ships, were sweeping the area for any targets.

Nothing.

I arrived at the town before dusk. It was average size, around 2500 people.

It was... interesting.

There were no boats at port, and little activity.

I came near the shore, not sure how to actually get onto the ground.

My legs should work, but how do humans even use these things?

My captain jumped off of me, and swam onto the beach. He got up, and began gesturing towards his legs, and waving for me to follow.

I got closer, and took a cautious step onto the beach. And tripped.

Sand and water filled my face, and I jerked up and watch as my captain clapped.

He then began making motions with his legs, picking himself up and walking.

I crawler, hands grabbing at the beach and dragging me onto the sand.

My captain motioned for me to take a step.

I picked my self up slowly, and felt a sudden lightness as my wings and engines vanished.

I jumped to the side in shock, and spun around trying to find them.

Turning, I looked at my captain who was walking further inland.

"Oh you little-"

And so the chase was on.

Embarrassingly he beat me.

"Captain, oh captain!"

"Over here!"

I dashed towards him, but found him standing in a abandoned gas station.

He gestured towards it.

I signed and ripped a part of a pump, not sure how to restock.

My captain simply shook his head.

He then took a piece of it and bit it.

I shrugged and began eating it, ignoring his stares.

Then, I moved into the station.

There wasn't much, this place had been emptied.

I left the gas station and investigated the rest of the town. All empty.

There were no weapons craters, the people here simply left everything behind.

Like how my nation left me behind.

From the title, I was expecting the MC to be a harrier jet, not a su-33.

Edit: Hold up I'm an idiot, MC is an ekranoplan.

So, how far post war is the Ekranoplan? Her missles obviously caught the Wo off guard, but is she full on modern or closer to Cold War tech?

So, how does her rigging look like? We know she has wing and rockets, but it would be nice to get a more complete description of how the ekranoplan parts appear on her girl self. Actually, what her girl self looks like would be also interesting to find out.

Hmm, not the author, but the way I would do it is to give her a hover board similar to that of the green goblin in the first spider man movie but made from the wings of the Lun and with the 8 jet engines strapped to it.
Then maybe one of the twin-missile-tubes as a wrist launcher and the other two mounted on each shoulder.

Oh, and that tail wing + radar assembly could extend up behind her head from some kind of backpack module.

My first thought was some kind of jet backpack, but I couldn't really see that working unless she was leaning forward like a speed skater.

I almost imagine her with a giant jetpack like rigging with the missiles mounted on her sides, the 23mm autocannons represented by pistols.

Don't forget to put up threadmarks!

Honestly, I'd just have her fly parallel to the surface of the sea, instead of skating perpendicular to it. And with that in mind, the various parts of the ekranoplan can appear in more or less the same part of the body as it was as a metal vessel.

Interesting premiss. Wonder what the MC character will be like. Considering she is has endurance measured in hours, and would need to eat a lot. Plus she is fast. As in can outrun a WWII fighter fast.

But why do so many KanColle fics start with empty cities or towns?
