Your awakening is painful. You remember being wrapped in darkness, with a burning heat surrounding you. Wriggling, you attempted to break free. Slowly cracks appear in whatever you were in, and it opened forth, spilling you forth onto the ground. Looking to and fro, your tiny beady eyes adjust...

The first thing you notice is your....egg. Yes. Egg. It was made of a hard clear substance, with thick colored liquid dripping from it. At it's base was a silvery substance, etched with various....things. Your simplistic mind couldn't understand them at present.

Further looking around, your eyes, poor as they were, were good enough to understand that you seemed to be in...

[ ] A cave of some sort, with metallic lights and odd glowing things on the top of the tunnel.

[ ] A forest, with many trees. Here and there you would see glowing mushrooms. It seemed to be night.

[ ] A treeless marsh, with tiny floating...THINGS, passing you by, high in the air.

Analyzing yourself quick, you quickly came to understand your body and it's functions.

Mechanics: You start as a neuro-grub on a alien deathworld. You must adapt, evolve, and avoid getting eaten. Like many residents of your planet, you adapt over time, generating AP as you perform tasks. Once you get a certain value of AP, you get a selection of adaptations you can take based on the activities performed. Further, you must eat to survive, and collect 'Proteins'. Proteins can be used to activate special talents, ensure you don't starve, or be stockpiled for various uses.

You WILL die, once or twice. Luckily for you, much like Dwarf Fortress, Death is Fun! When you die, you respawn as another grub of your species, losing a certain number of adaptations, but on the flip side, you get to purchase Mutations. Unlike Adaptations, you can't gain Mutations with AP, and mutations don't go away when you die.

-Night Vision: Your eyes are adjusted to the darkness, able to see in low light conditions.

You were in a Forrest. All around you were various large tree trunks, stretching far enough into the sky that you couldn't see the end. Scattered in various places were odd glowing mushrooms, casting light upon the forrest floor.

Wriggling forward, you felt your body color CHANGE, slowly growing darker and darker. You begin to move forward through the foliage, only for, inches in front of you, a heavily armored foot to slam down.

Stopping, you tremble in terror as you gaze up. The foot belonged to a large, scaled beast, bipedial with a pair of large horns sticking out of it's head. It raises it's snout to sniff the air, and your primitive brain worries about it managing to find you.

After a minute it lets out a roar, and continues walking.

Every turn, your proteins go down by 1, giving you one action. By spending more, you can perform more actions, however if you hit 0 protein, you begin to starve. Each turn lasts about 24 hours.

Day One

You decide that, in your current state, actual hunting would most likely be beyond you, so you decide that the easiest food source would probably be the large tree's surrounding you.

However, you immediately realize that your body is not adapted towards this at all. This realization comes when your jawless mouth attempts to chew on the bark of the tree all day, to no avail. Eventually, you grow hungry, and you crawl up one of the branches to eat some leaves instead. Luckily these are much easier to eat.

Then, of course, you find a nice hollow on the tree to sleep. When you awake, you seem to be....different.

[ ] Caustic Vomit: Spit up a mixture of chemicals that will soften organic materials over time to be more edible. This process usually takes roughly a day
[ ] Mandibles: Develop a set of mandibles to help you chew tougher things.
[ ] Stomach Acid: Your stomach develops a slightly more powerful acid, allowing you to digest things faster and digest tougher things

After this, lets grab mandables so we are more optimized for tree eating and have weapons.
