First Faction Select
Because why limit myself to one big quest covering the whole of Human History, when I can see if a smaller, more tightly focused quest works better? Note that I am not a professional historian so some elements might not be completely historically accurate, but I will do my best to minimize historical inaccuracies whenever possible.

The year is 320 BCE. The conqueror Alexander had died three years earlier. But the dreams of conquest, of glory, of ruling over others will always remain in the hearts of men. There has already been a war between the Diádokhoi and everyone knows the next one will start soon enough...

Which faction shall you lead to victory? (Note that every 5 turns, there will be a vote that decides whether or not the nation is changed)

[X] The Province of Syria

This isn't a place that gets too much attention from people interested in the Hellenistic period in my experience, other than scholars of religion studying the history of Judaism. Let's do something unusual.

Hmmmm.

Thebes would have been tempting, if not for the fact that they basically got annihilated by Alexander after being crushed by Phillipus. In fact, it technically doesn't exist right now (the city is remade 8 years after Alexander's death).

I'd be down to play the Seleucids, but I'm not sure if that's the Syria or Babylonia choice. Whichever beats the other in the inevitable conflict between generals?

Seleucids would be based out of Babylon. Syria bases phrygia. I forget the name of the dynasty but he got swamped by the seleucids and ptolmy.

Babylonia it is then.

That's the idea, no? Pulling shenanigans is a pretty Thebean thing to do, and I can think of no higher level of Shenanigans than taking a city from being a memory to an empire.

[X] The City of Massalia

A little greek city surrounded by celts, Rome and Carthage. Challenge accepted !

[x] The Kingdom of Pontus

Mithradates VI's kingdom FTW
