Are we sure that any human is capable of becoming an Android? I mean, it can't be a coincidence that Gero only made two biologically enhanced humans. Why did he bother with 19? Why didn't he become biologically enhanced instead of going for a replica of 19's model to become 20? If 16 was so much stronger than the other androids, why didn't he give himself a body that was more or less the same as 16's?
Either he's a bit stupid, or there's probably more to how to build androids like 17 and 18. For all we know, maybe their 'infinite stamina' is a natural power they have.
This story is really good I love it man. Here's my question. Why not just get a hold of the Dragonballs and wish that each Human on Planet Earth absorbs a little bit of Buu's (who is still in planet in his egg at this point) power. Or just the Dragon Team, or just Krillin. Seems like absorbing the power of one of the only 2 beings Frieza ever feared would be a logical step. Just use the Dragon to wish Buu's spirit to the Afterlife and absorb his body which absorbs his Ki level and odd powers such as Regen and stuff.

The dragon cannot grant wishes to affect people more powerful than him without their approval. He couldn't affect the Saiyans on their way to Earth, so trying to affect Buu seems right out. I'm still unsure of why he couldn't pull off a wish to sabotage the space pods of Nappa and Vegata to kill them indirectly though. They would die to lack of air rather than because Shenron used his power to affect them directly, but shrug.
Want to know something else I really hate about Covid-19? Just how vague the symptoms are. My mom and I are showing mild symptoms of it and now we're both freaking out. I already called all the people i've met in the past two weeks, but for fuck's sake, this is just stressful. This on top of Cal 2's hydrostatic pressure and points of balance AND my english paper AND my history homework AND my art project?
And the fact that I'm an ADHD bastard who started on two more SIs beyond this one? and that i have writer's block for this one with no idea how to transistion it to the next arc?
Sorry folks, look like Going to Make a Krillin is Going to Take a Break for a bit.
Be on the look out for Feline Flight, a Fairy Tail SI. SOrry, folks.
Edit: Here's the link.
An SI with no memory of Fairy Tail inserts into it as Happy and assumes that this is your standard isekai. He's thinking of calling it, "In Another World, I'm a Flying Cat!" Shh! Don't spoil it for him. Not that it'd help... The butterflies are aflutter!
It kind of makes sense in a way. The Vriefs family are the wealthiest supergeniuses in the world. What are they going to wish for?
World Domination? Sounds like work. Also we own like 1/3 of it already. It's a waste to wish for.
Eternal Life? I'd rather accomplish it the proper way, thank you Shenron.
Mundane Shit? We own continents.
Power? We have gravity chambers and could probably make Artificial KI with a couple weeks of work.
Resurrection? We know gods. We've seen the afterlife. It's a chill place, and decently strong people can kinda just... Leave.
That's just the Briefs. The rest of the Z Fighters can't be fucked to get the Dragon Balls since they can just ask Bulma, Goku, or go get whatever it is themselves.
Added to that is the power limit of the dragon balls. Anyone strong enough to be an actual comcern can't be dealt with via them anyways.
Basically, it's not worth the hassle to get rhe dragonballs when they can get the results of a wish through less work than collecting the damn things.
Indeed. Also just a further point of declaration! I REALLY do not like using dragon balls as a solution to the plot. I prefer character's solving problems instead of MacGuffins. So I'm probably going to make some rules about how the Dragon Balls aren't as powerful as they are.
While GT didn't make much sense, at least the Dark Dragons provided a reason for why the Dragonballs weren't used for every little thing. Especially after they made it clear that a strong and fast enough person could just grab them when they try to disperse after each wish.
Yeah, Master Shen of the Crane school has been Roshi's rival for hundreds of years, both of Them, Baba, and probably General Tao (since he's Shen's younger brother) are immortal barring death in combat.
That said, it makes sense, they were humanities first adventurers in a lot of ways, and there's plenty of magic shit in dragon Ball, especially if you're rolling with Filler, but even without it there's plenty.
Monster Carrot could beat Freiza with prep time and Freiza off guard.
Pretty sure this has a quote, but I got tired of using control F to try and look through the transcripts for it.
Awesome. I'd both love and hate to see this. Mostly because you can already tell the sheer vitriol conversations would have after Yamcha's sports-ball games.
"You lost to a team of dogs!"
"At a game of professional level Fetch!""
Didn't Toriyama have no input into GT? I heard somewhere that Toriyama had no input into GT.
Honestly, Toriyama's input wouldn't account for much. He has a kind of fast and loose playing with plot points and established rules of the universe. He writes based on Rule of Cool which makes for great fights but a lot of plot holes.
I saw the super timeline bullshit mentioned in regards to GT with that response dump.
I couldn't care less for that Arc in Super, but after listening to Plague's gripe about the time travel stupid (It got taken down, it's in audio only on YouTube somewhere.) It needs to be said.
Dragon Ball Super time travel is beyond idiotic, it just straight up shouldn't be a thing.
That said I am looking forward to how you incorporate some of the more whacky stuff from DB that Toriyama forgot about. And that Shenron-Launch idea just tickled my fancy.
I'm glad the Shenron Launch idea is interesting! Honestly? The time travel arc might just be butterflied away. Or it will be treated as more of a parallel universe thing, you know.
Well people go get on Goku's case for giving Cell senzu just kinda say in the manner that "goku's ( father of the year, everyone) is not a good dad with all the abandonment and the helping of the super-uber-perfect enemies against his son....son gohan.
For Vegeta... we kinda expected him to be a super huge dick and a prideful moron...so yeah.
Yeah... about the super concentrated moon waves which Bulma has..... with all the talk oh her being stark of the bdz, after goku's transformation maybe the SI will likely try to munchkin something out of that... maybe the wrathstate is not yet a dream after all.
It was a bio-engineered drug which turned people into furries back during Dragonball. Was a big craze for a while, apparently, then by the time of Z nobody was interested in it anymore. The videogame Dragonball: Kakarot revealed the little factoid, and it's canon from Toriyama.
Or in other words: Toriyama was too lazy to keep drawing furries occasionally rather than just hordes of humans for crowd reaction shots, and decided to do the same thing he did to Goku's hair, and BS'd a reason into it being easy.
There have always been beastmen wandering around in Dragon Ball but, uh, why? Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot finally offers an explanation why.
www.cbr.com
Maybe he didn't ask?
Why Not dogs i suppose?
...i wonder if this means that Krillin could Technically get that done to him?
Sure it probably wouldn't give that big a boost, but there might be some benefits to it as well?
it might remove his baldness, give him a nose, increase his senses?
at the very least it might give him claws of some kind...
maybe a tail if he's lucky?
and thats just if the drug is limited to dogs...
gills maybe?
Edit: according to the wiki
either that, or turning the androids into humans would be a bad idea with Shenron looking into the future and knowing they needed the androids power or something
Oh right. Forgot that detail. Ugh, I want to enjoy writing this fic, but it's getting harder and harder. And Master Roshi SI's personality just won't fucking cooperate!
You know, this actually makes the world of Dragonball make more sense, not less.
The reason Magic isn't more common, and well known? They've surpassed it.
Magic being real doesn't mean shit when the average person can replicate or surpass the effects of years of study, by simply going online and ordering something for a weeks wages.
Maybe a fraction of mages can do cool magic, but every functioning adult can buy a set of wacky capsules and a drug that messes with their lifespan.
Edit: This also essentially means the Z Fighters and Co. are a bunch of spiritual ascetic regressives living in a Transhumanist Science Fantasy.
if it was just a heart attack Goku would have been fine, instead it was a Heart Virus that they don't know was there, it kills Goku in that timeline because they didn't know that they had to treat him until it's too late
Oh my fucking GODS, i hate the Heart Virus so much. It's an inverse Deus Ex Machina that exists for no reason beyond making a dystopian world. It is solved as easily as it appears. And just... ugh.
The original, pre-DBZ, Dragonball setting was freaking amazing for the layers of bullshit it was dripping with. And DBZ wasn't all that much of a slouch itself, even if it tended to wander out into fairly uninteresting tangents.
The story takes place on a massive, pangaea-style supercontinent... which may or may not be the only one... and a few outlying archipelagos. Its a world still reeling from the scourging of the Demon King Piccolo three hundred years ago, the survivors having mostly clustered into five cities that barely even bothered to have names: Titling themselves after the four cardinal directions they were arrayed in and then their capital 'Central'. You have to get beaten down hard to give up on even having proper names. There is so much empty there.
You have actual demons, nominally directed by Shula, periodically erupting onto the planet in what I honestly consider more of a particularly rowdy bar crawl than a proper invasion. Apparently demonic or external intrusion is prevented by the diety Annin of the Furnace of Eight Divisions. You can walk to the gate of the dead. Kami acts as planet-scale god on appointment from the bloody weird, but typical for eastern mythology, celestial bureaucracy and with the backing of an outright lovecraftian gravemind thing of all previous guardians of the earth. And that is before we get into any of the vaguely comedic bullshit.
It gets glossed over a lot, but there is some serious crazy there just from a worldbuilding standpoint.
Reminder there is nothing that prevent krillin from learning the transformation technique from Puar, which while not useful for improving his ki-derived strength, will solve his height and reach issues in combat, and should let him replicate many of piccollos techniques and fly under his own power without the sky walking technique from the Crane school.
We can see this because we've seen.
Oolong transform into a rocket comparable to the Nimbus in speed trying to escape Goku in "Ooh Ooh Oolong"
Puar and Oolong use multiple reach extending abilities when fighting in Fortuneteller Baba's arena.
Oolong successfully transforming into enormous forms in attempts to intimidate people
And Oolong transforming into forms that have functional combustion engines.
As such, while the transformation technique (which is taught in kindergarten) does nothing to improve the actual physical strength of its user, all other properties seem to transfer.
By this logic, one could transform permanently (since Puar has no time limit) into a Saiyan, Namekian, Oni, or taller person with no trouble. Possibly even more esoteric forms like Cell or an Android could work.
This would not improve your strength, bit it would instead give you access to these forms unique plethoras of racial abilities.
And before anyone brings it up, non-animal people can in fact use the Transformation technique, as evidence by the two humans who use it in Xenoverse 2
I'm probs not going to go that route sorry. You guys are really good at jailbreaking the story.
That's also kind of scaring me because I just know that if I go the way I want to in this story, there's going to be people who yell at me for not abusing the mechanics enough.
Confession. To all the people who ask me to use the Dragon Balls to kill people, wish for a power up, or anything that just instantly solves a problem?
Please don't. That's almost never going to happen. Those solutions just feel boring to me. Like just wishing for the Saiyan's pods to be destroyed? Or a species change? Or something of that like?
It just feels lazy and, to me at least, doesn't tell a good story. I'd write a paragraph at most.
"Having found all the dragon balls, I summoned Shenlong and wished for the ability to create a black hole whenever and wherever I wished with the ability to turn it off."
And with that single wish, I could destroy the universe. Something like that.
Yeah, this in a nutshell. I've been trying to write a Goku SI since 2015 titled "To Become a Beacon of Hope" with some AU inserted in, trying to take full advantage of all the bullshit that Toriyama wrote. It's pretty much impossible. Between the post-apocalyptic setting of King Piccolo and everything else you've said, it's almost impossible to take full advantage of everything. That's without taking into account the fact that we don't even know what the event that marks year 0 of their calendar is. Or, for example, the map has some frightening similarities to post 2300 AD Chrono Trigger map. Or where exactly have all the magic users gone? Did they all get killed during the King Piccolo wars? The only one we see that isn't a martial artist is Baba, and she's OLD. Or, for example, the technological disparity between where Mutaito and Master Roshi lived and the final battle with King Piccolo, with one clearly showing an 18th century Japanese aesthetic and the other a 20th-century Western aesthetic.
The whole story of DB (not DBZ) is so full of potential to fill with extra information that Toriyama never did that you could write entire stories of those time periods.
Remember this is the same race that has people like Gero, Bulma, Dr. Slump, and Prof. Briefs. The furry drug was probably released by one of the more benevolent mad scientists.
You know, we're told that Senzu Beans take a long time to grow but they must be producing a minimum of six per month to feed Kirin and Yajirobe. Almost certainly more given that they have enough lying around for Yajirobe to eat two entire handfuls of them that one time.
The reason for that one not being questioned is because it was perfectly in character to overestimate himself like he did. He and Trunks were the most consistently written characters in the android/cell saga.
I figure that there is some unstated, but very real, reason that shapeshifting isn't something a broad segment of the population learns. Some drawback that just makes it less than a uniformly good life choice, at least for everyone.
This could be psychological. It could be some lasting physical alteration, fudging of your own body's plan, like how Puar really doesn't look like a cat anymore. At best Puar is an abstraction of a cat that is floating around without fingers and whose biological gender is really hard to get across. It could be just something like sterility, 'normal' biological processes just giving the fuck up when it comes to figuring out how to make a stable sperm or egg cell that works with an external counterpart.
With animal people, eh, could make sense? At that point you are a minority and, even if nobody is crapping on you as hard as they very much would if this was real life, being able to go anywhere and be anything is nice. There would be a strong market there. At least strong enough to populate several schools, seeing as Puar and Oolong trained at the Southern Transformation Kindergarten.
It also might be one of those things you have to start damn, damn young.
Piccolo murdered the world. In his second emergence, he specifically targeted any and every martial artist strong enough to threaten him even in his sleep. It wouldn't surprise me if he considered magic users even more dangerous the first time around since, well, they bend the rules to the point they become black holes of pure shenanigans. Uranai Baba probably lived because she was the sister of Roshi, and presumably on passable terms with Shen and Tao (who was a two year old when Piccolo started his scourging but who was probably fighting for his life by the end of it). Though I would wonder if she managed to actually hide in the Other World, or at least it's doorstep, with whoever taught her magic in the first place. Dealing with the dead is a major part of her magical portfolio.
Her pet devil was definitely her finding a comfort blanket in case he returned though.
Note that Uranai Baba and Muten Roshi aren't names. They are vaguely descriptive titles. Those two literally outlived the use of their own names and chose not to spread them. They are doing their damnedest to fade out of the history books despite being absolute game changers. They have to be doing this for a reason for a very, very long time.
You know this story just makes me want to all the more see a si goku that goes evil route or semi evil while also wanting to see this story have krillion go more skilled then garou
I don't like stories where the MC is evil. They're almost ALWAYS written as powerwank or just as an excuse for the writer to indulge in their darker fantasies or something. Kind of like Wildbow and Worm.
I'm reminded of Pirates of the Caribbean four and five and how making Jack Sparrow the main character who had to undergo character development ruined some of his appeal. A lot of the story hinged on him being the way he was, so making him change was interesting, but not necessarily as entertaining. Barbossa's growth as a character was amazing through the entire series, but Jack worked better acting as context for the changing world.
Other examples of entertainment with static characters are the ones that are formulaic. Wile E Coyote and Road Runner episodes are mostly 'the same' but few people complain. Dragonball Z is similar in that there is a definite pattern that repeats itself on an increasingly escalating scale. It's important not to hold expectations and just enjoy the spectacle.
Don't listen to Saint. Seriously. Anyone expecting a flawless, improved copy of the original source is missing the point of fanfiction. It's about saying 'this is cool, but do you know what else would be cool?' and writing something different. It's about making a Harry Potter story that is basically a Harry Potter fan writing a sixty thousand word complaint about how evil Dumbledore is. It's about rewriting a story with all the character's genders mixed up. It's about having fun and sharing that with others. It's literary potato chips. You don't eat them for nutrition, and you certainly don't want to eat nothing but potato chips. But it is nice to sit back with a bag of them and make a pig of yourself.
I'm really enjoying this so far and I like where you're going with this. The idea of fleshing out the martial art elements of Dragonball is very intriguing. Yamcha and Krillin's fight was really cool and made me excited for more. It will be nice to see the good guys become more than speed bumps to buy time for Goku to get there.
Thank you! Sorry for going on a break from this story, but I've been slamming my head on chapter four for two weeks now and just... deleted three different drafts of it, but one day i will return with the next set.
Even the more soft spoken elements can be damn interesting. Its nice seeing Muten Roshi played as a genuinely responsible authority figure dealing with the overcaffeinated collateral damage fistmonster that is Goku. Toriyama sketched a very loose, often inconsistent outline but seeing those lines filled in this way is as fulfilling as anything.
Changes are nice. Just flipping over rocks to see what is crawing there, outside of normal audience perception, is nice too.
I don't think Senzu beans had a short shelf life actually, in DB Korin had a full pot of them.
I think they ended up rare because Yajirobi stayed with him and kept eating them instead of going out and getting food.... might be fanon, but there was a full to the rim clay pot in the anime at least.
Being reminded of dragon ball plotpoints is pretty wild. There's so much about this show I've forgotten that even a canon rehash will probably suprise me.
Actually, when did they wish the Moon back in the sky? Was that skipped over or something because Piccolo had to blow it up a second time in DBZ. Pissed off Vegeta from beyond the Grave.
Speaking of, i wonder if wishing for Goku to be able to keep his mind while transformed+stop transforming at will would be better than burning the stump?
Also what happens to cut off bit of the tail now?
wonder if it has any properties you could use?
Magic or something; Goku (or Kami) never elaborate. It's a line from the time Goku returns from his training with Kami during that Budokai tournament where he first faces the new Piccolo (JR).
Maybe Gods just can play Minecraft with their world? There's so much worldbuilding, but it's all just barebones. No real exploration of it.
Like Gods of Destruction? Okay, so they have to trim weak planets to keep the average power level of their world high. But WHY!?
Why is it important for the average power level to be high in the world!? And what's the criteria? Does a planet have like a time limit to get life? And once it has life, does those lifeforms have a time limit to get a high enough power level?
Like he's supposed to be the Guardian of Earth, but he doesn't even TRY to fight the Saiyans. And he never intervenes in humanity's conflicts. Or helps places in trouble or anything useful beyond training somebody else to do the work.
I though you simply couldn't use wishes to kill people.
Also, if Kami can do anything Shenron can without using the Dragon Balls, why did they waste a wish to revive Goku? Or use a Wish at any point where Kami was alive?
I need my fix of SIrillin man! Have you thought about using ideas from History's strongest disciple Kenichi? The kushinada style jujutsu would be great since krillin seems to think he's "weak".
I might. Sorry man. Going on a break. Just getting really tired of all this inconsistency.
...Granted, I'm writing stuff for Fairy Tail too, so I'm certifiably insane, but i'm hoping that the reread shows that Fairy Tail is a bit more consistent in plot.
Kami has God powers (I mean, it's in his name!), so he can do stuff like restoring the moon. It's not that he can do anything Shen Long can, otherwise he wouldn't need the Dragon. He can cheat with him by activating him before a year passes, thought.
Gods are shown to be able to create matter out of thin air. It's probably that the higher they are in the Pantheon, the better the material. Kami is probably high enough to work with moon-rock or something.
King Kai probably restored his world in a similar way. The Supreme Kais, Angels and Gods of Destruction are shown to have similar abilities.
King Yemma out ranks Kami (I think), so I dont think Kami can just mess with the dead without getting in some deep shit. The Dragon Balls might just be a loophole cause even if they are made by Kami, they're still connected to the Dragon God.
As of wasting wishes, I only really remember them using them to do OP things like bringing a whole ton of people back to life or restoring destroyed planets. Not really stuff I can see Kami being able to do.
Edit: wait. Kami is originally a regular Namekian. Being the guardian gave him God ki and god powers. Does that mean if Goku had accepted to be the guardian when it was offered in DragonBall, we could have had a Super Saiyan God much sooner?
Ooh, that's a good question, though he might not be able to leave the earth if he was it's god, but I think that if it did end up scaling that way up to becoming a super saiyan it seems likely that he would have gone SSG to start off with.
Then again, if he has a tail when he goes super saiyan, and manages to wrangle his Oozaru form when it's Golden, he can probably skip straight to Super Saiyan 4
Maybe Super Saiyan 4 God? Blue and red make purple so maybe it'd be Super Saiyan Purple? Or maybe Super Saiyan Furry Purple on account of the furry bits? Or Super Saiyan Furple?
This is a great story. Is there any chance if krillin maybe uing a wish to figure out chakra (specifically Tsunade senjus knowledge of chakra) this might sound stupid but figuring out that seal she used to store a little of her chakra for years and then be able to draw from that reserve. Krillin could do the same thing and it could disguise itself as an insense mark or something.
I'm just hoping he takes his earnings from the competition and, well, invests them wisely. As petty as it may seem, and as irrelevant when you have Doctor Briefs on speed dial, just having money gives you latitude for action and freedom from distraction. And, coin or no, juggling favors and keeping your name on the right lips can have huge dividends if you keep at it for a decade or two.
Goku would have had a golden ticket from the king of the planet if he had stayed around five minutes later after killing Daimao Piccolo. Just... wave for the cameras, comrade, and the world is your oyster.
I hope they pull a "I'm Iron Man" instead of the Superman-trope.
Why the secrecy? I'm pretty sure the world would welcome and support the hero who defeated the Red Ribbon Army and King Piccolo.
This could lead to lesser-casualties when the Saiyans, Cell and Majin Buu happen.
Probably be easier/better to poke Bulma and her dad into looking at Ki and science the shit out of for fun and profit. I can see them making some ki batteries to store all the ki power needed for whatever inventions they think up to use it.
Why have them do it? Let's make Ox King relevant and have him do it.
Hellfire, he trained under Master Roshi right? Let's have him train under Master Roshi and begin to understand Ki.
And instead of fighting with it, he decides to apprentice under Baba Yaga for a bit and learn a bit of runic magic.
Then he turns his mountain into a forge where he can make Ki-Attuned weapons! The reason his mountain is on fire so often is because it's magical fire that sometimes gets out of control.
Yeah. That's an idea i'm stealing. It'd also make Chichi relevant too! She could become a stay at home wife because she's a craftsperson who works at home. But instead of knitting and shit, she makes powerful weapons.
You know what would be great is if you could up the ki levels of all on the planet the spirit bombs gathering of energy could gather more. Though hmm. Having the briefs science ki and then have a few teachers instruct students maybe even surprisingly teach Hercule how to use ki and his glory Hog ways will get it spread far and wide.
Humans can get pretty strong if they bothered to game the system such as getting elder kai to unlock there potential or using those blueprints they stole to turn them into androids. There's plenty of non saiyan power ups that a human could stack to bring them up to ss3 level at the very least.
Ugh, those 'unlocks' are super lazy ways of Toriyama to raise the stakes. They have no payoff too. Gohan, Krillin, fucking Trunks and Gohan. They all get these 'unlocks' and at the end of the day?
They still have to wait for Goku. That just kind of pisses me off.
Indeed. Also I'm just sick and tired of people telling me to use wishes to solve problems.
Honestly, i think the wishing system is what breaks everything the most! Everybody's focused on the wishes! How wishes can power you up! How wishes can solve things!
I want to focus on the Ki system! The Magic System! Hellfire, I want to focus on the Crating system! Explore how they interact one another and could give planet Earth and edge!
Earthlings aren't powerful enough to hurt Saiyans? Have Ox King or the Briefs make weapons that further enhance Ki into things and even the discrepancy between power levels.
Technique over power! Finesse triumphs strength! Cleverness instead of bruteness!
Weird and whacky battles that don't just involve an escalation of screams but an escalation of thinking.
An SI with no memory of Fairy Tail inserts into it as Happy and assumes that this is your standard isekai. He's thinking of calling it, "In Another World, I'm a Flying Cat!" Shh! Don't spoil it for him. Not that it'd help... The butterflies are aflutter!
Sad that its over for a while, but really kinda expected something like this to happen to any one of my fav stories during the quarantine.
Hope you stay safe out there, and get better soon.
Sad that its over for a while, but really kinda expected something like this to happen to any one of my fav stories during the quarantine.
Hope you stay safe out there, and get better soon.
Like I said, there's a lot of small things that just build up into this thing that made me kind of... not quite hate it, but just not want to work on it. I'm pausing before it becomes hate.
Hmm...
What if Originally Korin only used a senzu bean once in a while, when he got sick or hurt, and put the extras in the pot, storing them for an emergency , like if there was a famine or earthquake....or if demons attacked again and the surviving populous needed a food source to survive on until they could rebuild everything...
So he has all these beans stored up, and then Yajirobe pops up and starts eating them instead of anything else.
Not the best thing, but theres enough stored up, and he's probably going to leave soon anyway....right?
Alchemy, science, magic... its alien monkey fur, bones, and flesh, there must be some uses for it...
If all else fails Krillin could probably get a snazzy outfit out of it.
Dragon Ball was loosely based on Journey to The West and many other many other Japanese tales, with Akira Toriyama using them more as guidelines and inspiration rather than a strict set of rules to follow. While there is an overarching plot, the focus was usually on the journey itself with each filler episode or arc usually receiving enough attention to be enjoyable, and usually closely matched to some piece of folklore.
Dragon Ball Z added a dash of Peach Boy mixed with Sci-Fi, a greater focus on the overarching plot, had less folklore in exchange for more development of its own universe, and the filler lost much of it's more redeeming qualities. It also was much more focused on stretching out it's content, with the drawn-out fight-scenes that stretched out over multiple episodes in Dragon Ball's seasons making a comeback with a vengeance. It also changed quite a lot between each saga, but that's a different issue.
GT tried to go back to the Dragon Ball formula, but ended up with about the equivalent of 3 DBZ movies worth of plot spread out over it's entirety, and those movies weren't heavy on the plot. The filler had a handful of good scenes, but they were just good scenes, not good episodes. And these few good scenes were scattered about far to much filler.
I honestly think that if this entire series were to be condensed into a 3-movie OVA series, most of it's problems would be solved.
On a more topical note, will Goku remember to loot the Red Ribbon mooks? Because they had a lot of capsules. Considering how their research branch was being propped up Dr. Gero, their stuff is probably worth a pretty penny.
"Hey, a new chapter, nice!"
"...oh, actually he's putting this into indefinite hold due to being swamped by irl work"
"...while starting another story"
"...it's Fairy Tail"
Welp, I'm sad to see this go, hopefully it'll revive eventually. Ciao OP, good luck!
Don't force yourself to write something you aren't inspired about. This story is too nice to do that to. That said, don't stop writing either, you're too good a writer and you stagnating would be a shame.
Dammit Krillin. Didn't you learn ANYTHING from db/z/s and Gurren Lagann?!?!? With that attitude you will never achieve anything meaningful to you, hell, even YAMCHA of all people started having thoughts about it too. If you truly and I mean TRULY, want to be something more than a side character meant to be killed off for a power up. THEN STAND UP AND FIGHT FOR IT!!!!!!
I don't know if anyone has pointed this out but since I started reading this I decided to watch original Dragon Ball series and that pig guy Oolong pig guy said that he went to a school to learn how to transform. So what if Krillin tracks him down finds out the school and learns. Then when they're on Namek or any place with Freiza Forces he can transform into Freiza to get what he wants?
Not like anyone would be brave enough to tell him no.
I think what main character should try do is see if the dragon balls can give him a zenkai boost ability or see if they can turn him into a Saiyan or something. I can't imagine anyone would want to get as their ass handed to them like krillin did in the series and become irrelevant eventually. Personally I would just think of it as leveling the playing field with the Saiyan's of the series. Or maybe he could wish to learn Captain Ginyu body stealing technique and steal raditz body and turn into Saiyan that way besides he's only few years older than Goku.

My eyes widened as I remembered something that was forgotten after the Saiyan Arc about Saiyans. Specifically, the tail and moon equals giant King Kongs. "DON'T LOOK AT THE MOON!"
"What?" Goku said, looking up at the moon.
...Okay, that was my fault. That's on me. Stupid mistake. My bad. ...We're so fucked.
