"Spite Grandma" is not Mama Mathers though, but someone from the various neo nazi "clans" in the area
I... never said she was, even if the idea that the Director and various other members would take such a woman (who was dead in the fic by this point) as a CI is hilarious, or that the good doctor would allow it to happen.

No. Merely that they are both women of a certain age, united in their mutual, reprehensible views and deportment, and that, of the two, the one that didn't choose her own name, let alone dress in silly clothes and insist other people call her that had the better nickname, even though it's intended as an insult.

Renick - one 'n', not two, according to wiki.

You think it's all finished, then you have to do the tidy-up. And, it is really annoying, unless someone has serious forethought, and/or thinks outside the box. I'm somewhat impressed by this Emily...

Most fanfics, only the supers are considered - tis good this admits the non-capes can be significant.

Typo fixed in the text!

Mama Mathers, like many capes, tends to first look for powers as the solution to her problems. CI Spite Grandma doesn't have that luxury. What she does have is a lifetime of taking bad situations and tragedies and not only surviving, but thriving.

Here I am trying to show Emily as experienced and savvy but not quite at the level of Tagg, Kamil or CI Spite Grandma. She might not be as good at the twisty thinking as them, but she has a good sense of when they are doing it, knows the standard counter plays, and is not afraid to toss the mess at someone else when she recognizes it's outside her skill set.

Subtext In Motion New
"Taylor," Amy asked slowly, "what did you discuss with my cousin and his idiot friend?" Amy had cornered the taller girl before lunch, in the hopes of figuring out... whatever the fuck rumors were going around now.

"Hmm?" Taylor replied, looking up from her book. "Oh, someone said something about how he was walking funny, but you were too busy making fun of him to do anything about it."

"True," Amy conceded, "that is a thing that happened. What else?"

"Ummm, I offered to send him some exercises he could do, and pointed out that he could get help from his parents or sister if needed?"

"OK, that one is news to me, we'll come back to that. What else?"

"Oh! I commented that while he wasn't lacking enthusiasm, he just didn't have the stamina to keep up with me and Aisha. What with all the time Aisha and I have spent. Then his friend was being a little shit for some reason, and I pointed out that at least Eric had the balls to try, unlike him, which shut him up nicely."

Amy boggled at the sheer... Taylor of it all. "Did you consider," she began slowly, "how all that might sound to someone without context?"

"What, that we were working out?"

"You know what, fuck it, let's go to lunch. I'm going to make Dennis explain this one. Fortunately, Eric is too busy being mortified to make it worse. Although Brian not going to school might be all that saves one of these idiots from getting put through a wall."

Note: Oh, Taylor and her monomaniacal focus

Seems perfectly reasonable that if someone is exercising and talking to some new to exercising about how they are doing that you would not have to say what you are talking about. It's only when that conversation is REPEATED in a different situation that it can have all sorts of different connotations attached.

You will note that once Amy found out WHAT the conversation was originally about and what they were doing at the time said conversation took place, her ire moved from Taylor to those idiots who did not give proper context to the conversation.
