Nia walked hand in hand with Mythra, Harry doing the same with Pyra, who's other hand was interlaced with Glimmer's. Not that Nia blamed her wife for that. She'd be doing the same with Mio if she were here. That thought caused her ears to droop slightly. She knew why Mio wasn't here, and couldn't blame her for that, but the fact that she held no real place in her own daughter's heart stung.
And she was sure the same would be true for Harry. He had been ecstatic when she announced her pregnancy, the first of the three, and had doted on little Mio relentlessly. As he had pointed out, he hadn't had a family beyond Azurda that he could remember.
They stopped in a hallway, seemingly like any other in the giant castle, and the short man, Filius Flitwick, gestured to the left, "That will be your room, Mr. and Mrs. Potter. And yours will be on the right, Ms-"
"Rhodes," Glimmer finished for him quickly.
"Hm," Filius said, "Well, good night."
"Goodnight Filius," Harry said with a strained smile, before walking into the room without another word. Pyra stayed to hug Glimmer one last time with a quiet, "see you in the morning," Before joining Nia and Mythra to walk into their room.
Harry was leaning against a beauty cabinet, staring at himself in the built-in mirror. Ultimately, Pyra was the one to ask the question they all wanted to know the answer to, "How long?"
"I don't know," Harry said.
"Give us an estimate then," Mythra said, crossing her arms.
"I don't know, Mythra!" Harry snapped, before breathing in and sagging, "I'm sorry, you didn't deserve that. It's just... I don't know. Time passed differently in the "Endless Now", it wasn't really now, but the same... I don't know, forty, fifty years. And Linka and I, we didn't age right. She took enough cycles that I gave up counting to grow up, and me... I was aging, I could feel it in my bones, my muscles, my reaction times. And I started to forget things."
"What sort of things?" Nia asked as Pyrrha led him to the bed, sitting down next to him and cupping the scarred side of his face, finger running over the eye wound.
"Our anniversaries, Glimmer and Mio's birthdays, what your core crystals looked like, how the Aegis felt, the Firelight swords didn't have the same weight to them I know that, how the Catalyst Scimitar felt, and-"
"Well," Nia pulled her hand back before using it to lightly bonk the side of his head, "We're here now, you'll teel that again, and as for our core crystals-"
Nia pulled off her shirt.
"-You can see those any time, so don't go moping on us. Now lie back, this is gonna sting a little. Do you still have the eye or-?"
"Socket's empty," Harry said. Opening his eyelid to show the hole where his eye had been.
"...Then this'll be slightly more painful than I thought," Nia said, balling up her shirt.
"Oh, that painful?" Harry said, opening his mouth obediently so she could shove the makeshift gag in.
"I'd say I'm sorry, but I'd honestly be more sorry about you still missing an eye," Nia said, and then began to stimulate the cells.
---
Glimmer walked into the Great Hall, seeing her parents already there and walking over to another table to eat. She wasn't deliberately snubbing them, she just needed time to think.
Because boy, was this more complicated than Harry, her dad, she reminded herself, was acting like it was. The first one was that she didn't sparking know how to deal with having parents. People from Agnus didn't have parents.
And on the flip side, why was she back to how she had been during the fight with Alpha? She had grown old, help found the new City and House Rhodes, and died. So why was she returneded to this state?
Glimmer looked over at Harry and the others, before glancing away as Nia caught her eye. Glancing away from the Queen of Agnus, Glimmer busied herself making her perfect breakfast platter.
Hearing skipping across the floor, Glimmer looked up to see a girl with big, bugged eyed blue eyes and dirty blonde hair staring at her and not blinking. Finally, she said, "Are you really Harry Potter's daughter?"
Glimmer carefully chewed her waffle, before swallowing and shrugging, "Yeah, I guess."
"Is it true he's been fighting the Rotfang Conspiracy?" The girl asked.
The what now?
"No," Glimmer said, slowly, "I'm pretty sure he hasn't, but you'd have to go ask him if he ever did."
Yeah, she didn't really know what Harry had done with his life. He had been closer to Linka than her, honestly.
"That's what Daddy says he's been doing," the girl continued, apparently undaunted by Glimmer's way of saying it, "That he was part of a special taskforce created by the Ministry to fight the Rotfang Conspiracy and vampires. That's why he didn't show up at Hogwarts, his part of the taskforce was a top government secret."
Then how would her father know about that? This girl just... Wasn't making sense, "Yeah, I don't think that's what happened."
"Mh," the girl hummed, "I mean, wouldn't using aging potions on him to be old enough to fight the vampires make sense for why he's so old? They do tend to run out of control if you use them too often."
"I guess? Listen, just go ask him if you're curious, he'll-"
"Well, he very well can't reveal he was part of this counter-conspiracy, could he?" The girl cut Glimmer off, "but unless you're part of it too, you can talk about it."
"Well, he's never talked about it with me, so you can only really get an answer from him," Glimmer said, feeling her irritation rising.
"Loony!" A boy snapped, walking over, "Are you bothering Miss Potter?"
"Rhodes," Glimmer corrected, quickly.
"Huh?"
"My name is Glimmer Rhodes," she said.
"But I thought..." the boy looked over at Harry.
"He's my dad, but we don't have the same last name," she said.
"Ah," he said, "Right, I'm Michael Corner, by the way. Is Loony bothering you?"
"Loony?" Glimmer asked curiously.
"A nickname we have for her, Luna Lovegood," he said.
"Doesn't sound like a very nice nickname," she said.
"She can be a bit much," Micheal said.
"You can say that again," Glimmer agreed tactfully.
---
Harry took the Aegises, both red and gold, with strong but shaking hands. The hilts slid into familiar calluses, and he lifted them from Pyra and Mythra's hands. They were, as he expected, heavier than he remembered. He turned, facing Nia wielding Dromarch's Blade.
People were gathering, staring, mostly at Dromarch, Nia and him. They appeared to have just decided to ignore Pyra and Mythra for now.
...That reminded him, where was Glimmer? Ah, he should trust her to take care of herself but that wasn't easy, the dad in him wanted to make sure she was fine no matter what happened.
Harry's eye met Nia, and he grinned, "Ready to show these people a thing or three?"
"Why're you keeping your eye closed?" Nia asked, and Harry blinked, before opening his left eye.
"That's gonna take some getting used to," Harry said, planting Pyra's Aegis in the ground and rubbing his eye quickly before drawing the sword again. He had gotten used to the lack of depth perception. Hell, he had gotten used to wearing a monocle, not glasses.
"I bet," Mythra said, looking him over, "I'll admit, I lke the scar, makes you look very rugged."
"I just wish you hadn't bulked up so much," Pyrrha said, sounding dejected. Harry turned, kissing them both on the cheek one after another, before turning back to Nia.
"You want one too?" He said.
"Maybe I'll give you one," she said, grinning at him, "if you can beat me. Unlike you, I've fought in the last thousand years, Harry."
"With Dromarch's Blade?" Harry responded, "or with yourself? I'd bet we're both rusty with these weapons."
"Ohhh, really, you-!" Nia started, ears flattening before she laughed, "I missed this, Harry."
"Me too," Harry said, sincerely, smiling at Nia.
"You two really waited a long time, didn't you?" Mythra asked.
"It was different in Pneuma," Pyra explained, "We don't remember much."
"Well," Harry said with a laugh, "I can't say I don't envy you two that. The weight of memory makes the meat sluggish, I'd say."
"Well said, Mr. Potter," Harry turned to see Albus walking towards them, Glimmer and a man that dwarfed even Harry behind him, "Though I still do wonder how you know that."
"I'll tell you over some booze, sometime, maybe," Harry said, closing his left eye, "It's a...Very long story. You know the type. Boy meets girl, they go on an adventure with friends, forge unbreakable bonds along the way. The whole nine of it."
"Hmm, and which girl would it be that you met that started this journey, if you don't mind me asking?"
"Would you believe it if I said all three in the same day? It was one of those ones. Now, did you need something, Albus?"
"Oh, yes. I was wondering if you had a wand. Miss Rhodes said she didn't, and that she didn't think you did either, is that true?"
"A wand?" Harry said, "I'm a swordsman, more, so no."
"Well, then, I'd like you to go down to the Olivander's in Hogsmead and get one for each of you. That is, I assume, acceptable. A wand is required for the Triwizard Tournament."
"Right, then," Harry said, "and who's the big guy behind you?"
"I'm Rubeus Hagrid, Professor of Care of Magical Creatures and keeper of keys and ground at Hogwarts, 'Arry," the man said, reaching out and shaking his hand, "I'll be guidin' ya through Hogsmead, maybe we can pick up a drink when it's all done?"
"I won't say no to a drink," Harry said.
----
Hagrid would admit, he couldn't keep his eyes off the magnificent white tiger that was trudging alongside the cat eared girl. Suddenly, it turned its head to look at him and said, "Can I help you, Professor Hagrid? I can't help but notice your staring."
"Blimey!" Hagrid jumped back a step, "you can talk!?"
"Oh," the tiger said, "Is that surprising? My apologies, I didn't mean to surprise you, merely inquire. My name is Dromarch, it's a pleasure to meet you."
"Oh, he startled you good," Nia laughed.
"My lady," Dromarch warned.
"No, no, she's rig'. I probably looked as shocked as I feel," Hagrid laughed as they continued on their way.
"Please don't encourage her, Professor Hagrid, I have enough of that problem with Master Harry."
Harry just laughed, "Come on, now, Dromarch. Nia's wit is one of her more appealing traits."
"To you, indeed, but not so to others, I'd say. You two just love bickering."
"That's normal for them?" Glimmer asked.
"Quite, Lady Glimmer."
They stopped outside the storefront to Olivander's Hogsmead, stepping inside and seeing-
"Mister Olivander," Hagrid said, "what are you doin' here?"
"Oh, hello Rubeus," Garrick Olivander said politely, looking up from a large book and offering him one of his strange smiles, "I'm needed at the Weighing of the Wands next week, so I figured now was as good time as ever to do an audit of the Hogsmead branch. We haven't done one in twenty years. What are you doing here, if you don't mind me asking?"
"These five," Hagrid waved his hand over them, "need wands."
"Hello, Mr. Olivander," Harry said, stepping up and offering his hand, "My name is Harry Potter-"
"Good Lord," Olivander said, eyes snapping up to the faded scar on his forehead, "You really are, aren't you? But… Why do you look so old, an accident with an aging potion perhaps?"
"Not that again," Glimmer sighed impatiently.
"Now, Glimmer, no need to be rude," Harry chided without any real heat.
"Sorry, I dealt with someone at the castle talking about that," Glimmer said, crossing her arms and shrugging.
"Harry, Glimmer... And what are your names, dears?" Olivander asked.
"Oh, I'm Pyra, it's nice to meet you, Mr. Olivander," Pyra said.
"Mythra," Mythra said.
"I'm Nia."
"Hmm, you aren't human, are you?"
"No, Gormotti."
"I've never heard of that species before," Olivander said, "Which, since the wandmaker licensing exam makes sure we know all the species denied access to wand magic, means I'm sure I can serve you. Come now, come now, first one, step up."
"I'll go first, I suppose," Harry said.
-/-
Garrick reached backwards and grabbed a wand, looking over it carefully before offering it to Harry with spindly fingers, "Redwood and Unicorn hair, 9 inches, rather springy. Give it a wave."
"Unicorn, really?" Harry said, glancing at Mythra, who looked slightly troubled before shrugging. Whatever was that about?
Harry gripped the wand like a blade before slashing it through the air, causing the ledger between them to explode into fire. Garrick put it out with a flick of his wand, shaking his head.
"No," Garrick said, taking the wand back, "That's definitely not right. Let me see..."
He was a combative type, Garrick could tell that much. The scar across his closed eye, the way he held the wand...
"Cypress and Dragon Heartstring, 7 inches, rigid," Garrick said, and Harry started to wind up for another slash, only for Mythra to catch it and take the wand, Harry relinquishing it without a fight despite the grip he had held it in.
"Yeah, no," Mythra said, tossing the wand back to Garrick, who caught it in confusion, "unless you want the window behind us to explode."
A seer? And able to glance into the future so easily? That would make picking out a starting wand for her easier. Mythra pulled Harry towards her, Nia and Pyra. They had a quick, hurried conversation that Caused Harry's closed eye to fly open.
"You're close to these young ladies, I assume?"
Harry's head raked across all four, a softness coming to his face, before he turned back to Garrick, "They're my everything."
"Cedar and Dragon Heartstring, 13 and three quarters," Garrick said, handing the wand to Harry. Harry slashed out, Mythra not stopping him this time, and caused a light to glow at the tip of the wand. Garrick nodded, happy to have found a match as Harry stepped back.
"Ceder is a wood that picks wielders who are a good judge of character, Mr. Potter," Garrick said, "I hope it didn't pick wrong to see you are such."
