Ah, then based off a cursory search since I actually haven't played anything older than Awakening, I'm going to get it's based off Chapter 6 in Sacred Stones? Basic outline seems similar and seems there's a recommended strat of stalling the Bael via using someone who can dodge all the attacks and draw aggro.

The chapter where rushing through the fog gets you a surprise visit by a Halberd. That was a fun reminder that Fog sucks.

That sounds adorably terrifying.I will admit, a lot of the motivation to finally try this quest was actually based on a replaying that game and Myrrh becoming a beast that two-shotted the final boss.
That they have an explanation for some of our weirdness.
