IT'S COMING
Official SA Forum Thread/HQ!
What's this, then?
The FFVFJF is a yearly charity event, partnered with the Child's Play charity to benefit children's hospitals around the US! Last year, the FFVFJF 2015 raised a grand total of $15,593! That's a lot of money for playing a videogame.
It's a month/month and some change celebration (a fiesta, if you will) combining a love of doing good works with a love of playing videogames. Specifically, Final Fantasy 5; considered by many to be one of, if not the best of the class/job-based Final Fantasies. During the Fiesta, players embark on challenge runs of FFV wherein they are limited to only four character jobs, of the 21 available (25 in the Advance, Mobile, and Steam versions of the game). There are a bunch of different modes to determine the exact jobs used, from Full Random to Classic to having restrictions based on Magic/Nonmagic classes!
How do I participate?
Just play!
Well, okay, there's a little bit more to it than that. You can sign up and play without donating, or you can donate and not play, or whatever! Pre-Registration begins right around June 1st; during this period, pledges/donations made will be tallied up to affect the course of the Fiesta proper-- look below for what this means. I'll add more information and links once the FFVFJF website kicks into gear!
The Run
The Fiesta kicks off every year with a livestreamed competitive Speed Run of Final Fantasy 5. But, here's the twist: donations made during the Pre-Registration phase are counted as votes for the character jobs of your choice ($1 per vote, if I'm not mistaken). Whichever four classes have the most number of votes come July, those are the classes the speedrunners must use. They are at the tender mercy of you, the donors! (Do not show them mercy.) But, the Speedrunners aren't the only ones who get suckerpunched by generosity...
#BERSERKERRISK
During Pre-registration, you can register your first playthrough of the Fiesta with the twitter hashtag Berserker Risk.
See, for every $10 collected during pre-registration, a Berserker grows upon the Berserker Tree. When the Fiesta starts, every Berserker will find a home in the teams of any player who signed up for the Risk: this means that, if you're playing, any of your four jobs could be replaced by a Berserker. If there are more Bersekers than there are players, then some lucky people will get two Berserkers, or more.
Stay tuned for more information, as the Fiesta approaches!
