A relic said to be able to grant whoever possess it any wish their heart desires.
Ten years ago, a War was fought for that same relic. Seven Magus, called Masters, fought in battle for a chance to obtain such a prize.
It was called The Holy Grail War.
Ten years ago, after so much blood was spilled, after so much was sacrificed, the last War, the 4th incarnation of the same, ended without winners, with only death and misery for those fools who decide to partake in it.
It was a War fought for Ideals, for Devotion, for Obsession, for the simple pleasure and promise of Death.

Ten years ago, a War was fought for that same relic. Seven Magus, called Masters, fought in battle for a chance to obtain such a prize.
It was called The Holy Grail War.
It was not fought between the Magi; however, it was fought between seven spirits called Servants, seven [Heroic Spirits] confined by the boundaries of the seven classes:
Saber, the [Heroic Spirit] of the sword
Lancer, the [Heroic Spirit] of the lance
Archer, the [Heroic Spirit] of the bow
Rider, the [Heroic Spirit] of the mount
Caster, the [Heroic Spirit] of magic and spells
Berserker, the [Heroic Spirit] of madness and rage
Assassin, the [Heroic Spirit] of assassination

--And now, it begins once again…
Please, tell me.
Oh, futures witness of this Sacred Ritual, which will forever change (and promises to end,) the lives of those who shall now fight on it…
Please, allow this simple soul to ask of you--
Which shall be the Victim/Corpse/Prisoner of Fate/Eyes you whose you will see this Tragedy/Tale unfold?
...
[] The Sword
You remember flames, you remember the heat, and you remember the screams… And you remember that smile, you remember that Dream he left for you to hold up… And now, with the strength you have chosen, you shall now cut through this silent night, with an unstained courage… You will honor His Dream, and, once this Night ends, the tomorrow you seek shall now be on your youthful hands…
[X] The Nobody
You are a faceless nobody, and what else would you be? You lack power, you lack influence, and if that wasn't enough, you also lack Time… The clock runs mercilessly against you, you can feel your memories, fading all too soon… But you're Will is undeniable, your intellect is up to the task, even if everything is useless, you shall not go without a fight…
[] The Magus
You wish anything but to fight, you have lost way too much in this ritual, people you love, people you looked up to, family and friends… All gone, due to this cursed Night, your only wish is for the peace of never having to fight… But alas, Fate is a cruel Mistress. So now, with the choice taken out of your hands, you must face the upcoming night, even if it means having to fight your fears, when the time comes, you shall come alive of this carnage…
...
And thus, with your Puppet/Testimony chosen, May The Holy Grail Shall Bless Your Path, Oh, My Lord…

Memory Manipulation: B-
He has shown to be capable of manipulating memories of almost 24 hours old, and he is capable of imposing ideas or suggestions in the mind of his target and making them believe that those were their ideas. He is still incapable of manipulating multiple targets at once, though.
Breathing and Walking: E+
Key concept in both Magecraft and Martial Arts. Though mainly affecting one's physical fitness, it also plays a role in the strength of nature interference. The absorption of outer energy (breath of life) to connect your inner world to the outer world. This skill can take years to learn. As of now He is able to feel the connecton between his outer body and his inner one, but he can do little with it.
Remaining Seals : 3

Survivors Will: No matter what, you are going to live, even if you have to drag your broken body to victory, you shall Survive. (When your life is in mortal danger, it allows for a failed roll to be rerolled once with a reduced penalty. Allows the taking of certain actions, but at the cost of locking others.)
Perceptive: You are capable of noticing little things with a greater clarity than most people, you can use that to your advantage. (It gives an extra d6 when rolling for perception. It allows to take notice of ceirtain details in a situation.)
Inqusitive: You are a Magus, trusting someone without a good hook on them isn't a good idea for most members of the magical community. You are far more 'Trusting' that most Magi, but you still are rather protective if you don't know the other party's intentions before hand, so you can make the mistake of letting that cloud your judgement for searching too much into something. (Allows for the capability of noticing ceirtain traits and actions performed for people that you don't consider trustable, but it can also make you point out more proofs in favor of your lack of confidence in the subjec rather than the ones in favor. At some points, it may require a dice roll to realize ceirtain actions.)
Skills
Bajiquan: C
Chinese Martial Art based in dealing explosive strikes at short range with elbows, shoulders, etc. This skill had been fused with Thaumaturgical mysteries to form a even more lethal style of combat. At this point, you can now be considered a capable fighter.
To put this in perspective, Kirei Kotomine has this skill at A+ Rank.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Magecraft: B
Capable of using orthodox Thaumaturgy. During his life, Emiya was a third-rate Magus at best, being able to replicate the use of simple spells like "Reinforcement", "Projection", "Alteration" with the capability of crafting bounded fields of average quality, and finally a certain level of skill in the use of Runes. Regardless, his ability with "Projection" allows him to recreate any bladed weapon, including the components, to near perfection, also allowing him to copy the abilities of the original owner. This Skill is boosted by the Caster Class.
Capable of keeping track of fast-moving object within a range of four kilometers. Nameless acquires this by applying Reinforcement to his eyes. The plus modifier is attained with instantaneous application of Magecraft.
This is the Skill given to the man who spend his entire life combating anything that was considered 'Evil' for the rest of the World, and thus, he earned this Skill by becoming 'The incarnation of Justice' in the eyes of the World. This Skill reduces the opponents Parameter by one Rank if they have the 'Evil' Alingment.
Territory Creation: D(EX)
Due to the fact the he lacked a permanent Workshop in life, this Skill would normally be severly reduced. However, due to the fact that a Reality Marble can be considered not only borderline True Magic, but also as a 'Workshop' of sorts, this Skill can reach the EX Rank with ease.
While he was never an expert craftsman of Mystic Codes, he did indeed made use of them during life, and was forced to learn at least the basics of their creation. When the Item in question fall under the category of 'Sword', then this Skill reaches the A Rank.
Unlimited Blade Works: Infinite Creation of Swords (E-A)
A powerful Reality Marble that allows the recreation of any Bladed weapon that the user has ever seen, in life or beyond, with minimal degradation. And at the same time allows the user to copy the skill and abilities of the original 'Owner' of the respective weapon. This is the Ultimate Answer to a man who lived his life by and as a 'Sword'. It is required an Aria for it's deployment
"I am the bone of my Sword
Steel is my Body and Fire is my Blood
I have Created over a thousand Blades
Unknown to Loss
Nor known to Gain
I have wistood Pain to Create many Weapons, Waiting for one's arrival
I hold no regrets, this is the only Path
My whole life always was Unlimited Blade Works!
Inside this Reality Marbel, the recreation of Divine Constructs becomes possible, with the permission of the Owner.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Excalibur Image: Sword of the Illusory Victory (A)
This is a recreation of the original 'Last Phantasm', the Holy Sword Excalibur, only useable within the confines of Unlimited Blade Works.
This recreation works on the basis of being crafted by The World (e.g. Caster's Reality Marble) when it's Owner faces an opponent that menaces it's existance.
It recreates, even if at a infinitely lower scale, the power of The Sword That Will Protect The World, in order to be used at his Owner's call.
"Let my Light reach the King that can never be Reached, Excalibur Image!"

"—I apologize, _________-san, but the result of your test were…" The Doctor was clearly uncomfortable, and to be honest, in this kind of situation, who wouldn't be?
(To tell someone, with irrefutable proofs, that in the next few years they would not only be forced into the bed of an hospital, but that they would also not only lose their motor capabilities…)
"—we have some medicaments that can slow down the symptoms, but I'm afraid that that's the most they can do, if the results are right…" The Doctor looked right at the boy's face.
'He's no older than 14…' Thought The Doctor with pity, all that life in front of him, all that potential… now that kid would never know all the life's has to offer.
(But that they would also end up as nothing more than a vegetable, with their brain activity slowly dying out, and that person would be completely powerless to stop it…)
"…If our estimations are correct, with the regular use of the prescript medicine, your condition should be stable until at least your twenties…" The Doctor sighed; here comes the hard part…
"The estimate is that the symptoms should start appearing at the latest date being you at 22 years old…
--We believe that the need for hospitalization would come two years later, at that point is almost sure that many of your motor functions will begin to fail.
Is at this point where we believe, the degeneration of your mental capabilities will start"
The Doctor then looked into the eyes of the Child in front of him to see if He was able to understand his words
(--I felt sick for a moment, trying to understand the complicated words that the man in front of me had just spoken.)
"Ah" Was the only response that he got from The Child.
(…'Seriously, what kind of lame reaction was that?' You may say, but please have some mercy on me, I was in shock.)
"—In conclusion," he said, ready to drop the news on The Child "we believe that you have between until 26 or 27 years old before the degeneration in your brain reaches levels that can be classified as 'Brain Dead'.
(His words were cold and to the point, but I couldn't detect any malice coming from this man…
And thus, my time limit as a sentient being in this world was set in stone.)
The Doctor looked into the eyes of The Child in front of him, he could see confusion, then he could see understanding, and finally—
He could see fear as realization dawned on him.
He sighed, this is the part he hated about his job, delivering the news that there would be no cure, no hope, no future.
"'I'm sorry," It made no sense to apologize, he wasn't at fault for anything about this Child's Illness, but still, it felt the right thing to do so" I can only say you this…
(And there wouldn't be anything to do about it; nothing would change that deadline,)
Don't waste the time you have left, I know this is a worthless advice, but please—
(The only hope for me,)
Enjoy what little life you will have,
(Was to pray for a [Miracle],)
Kishinami-san"
(To change my Fate—)
And with those words The Doctor led the Child out of his office in silence… Trait Unlocked! Survivors Will

-->[X] You are Hakuno Kishinami
I woke up with a jolt.
Immediately after that I realized—
I had once more managed to fall asleep in my seat, just after classes had ended.
I sighed, and looked at the window at my side, and noticed how late it was. The sky was now a bright orange; obviously, my lack of sleep was catching up with me.
I looked at the reason of my lack of sleep in these recent days—
My hand was now covered by bandages, supposedly because I burned my hand while preparing a bento for lunch.
I slowly removed the bandages, and I was immediately able to distinguish the faint Red glow in the back of my hand.
ACommand Seal.
The proof of my right to battle in The Holy Grail War.
Now the only question was if I was Willing to do what was necesary to win...
I attempt to remember what I managed to gather about the previous War.
Some of the families that participated in it were the Sajyous, one of the three founding families who created the Grail in the first place. Which Servant did they summoned is still unknown, but it is believed to be Saber.
The Matous, another of the founding families, it is believed that they were the summoners of Caster.
And finally, there were the Einzberns, the summoners of Archer.
Their identities are a mistery to me.
Anyways, within the seven classes there are some that are highly mana taxing on the user...
Rules:
D = 3 Units of Mana per Circuit
C = 5 Unit per Circuit
B = 7 Unit per Circuit
It would be safer for me to be on the side of caution, my reserves are average, a low consumption Servant like Caster or Assasin would be better suited for me.
Regardless, I quickly took your belongings and set on my way home.
But when I was exiting the bulding I've met with a Familiar Face...
...
[] A Red-headed young man...(Lore bonus! Son of the Magus Killer)
It is the Kishinami Magical Crest, It has knowledge of Runes, Curses, and Healing Magecraft. Besides, the boost in your magical reserves will indeed be useful...
[] A Catalyst...
A catalyst to summon an specific [Heroic Spirit], sadly, you don't know who this will call, it will roll a d100. Who knows? You may summon Gilgamesh!
[X] Some Mana-filled gems...
These are gems filled with mana, they were brought from some Magus family famous for their Jewelcraft. Using these during your summoning, the taxation from the rest of the Grail War shall be reduced, even more, some Parameters of your Servant shall be upgraded...
...
AN: Well, here we go, it took me a little more time than expected, but I think this is fine...
And for those who noticed the detail of the 'Mana Units', they are more than it should be for an average Magi in the Fate timeline... Well, let's just say that we are in a rather... Strange timeline.
So given this, I don't think the catalyst option is particulary worth it. A low roll means the result isn't going to be that amazing and people might vote for one of the other options anyway, and a high roll might give us someone that's technically great, but that we can't actually afford in mana upkeep. It'd likely be better with a starting option that got more magical energy to spare, but that isn't us at this point.
Well, talking about Mana upkeep, I think it's time for me to disclose a little about it!:
...
Rules:
A Servant upkeep depends heavily in factors like their power, if it's in middle of combat, if it's making things like eating, sleepig, ect. To reduce the strain on their Master.
But in general, a Servant's strain in their Master should be at least 20-15 MU (Mana Units) outside of combat (Which can be reduced by the already mentioned activities), Servants like Assassin or Caster have a lower upkeep. (Assassin by their lack of brute power, and Caster by tapping in the local Leylines and the ambient mana, so their upkeep is reduced to 10-5 MU.)
Inside combat, the upkeep depends of how much their skills are being used, but a Servant during combat should burn at least 40-50 MU in general (Assassins and Casters can vary between 20 to 30 to 40 MU burned).
Now, about the Mana stat of a Servant, it includes terms like their potential for magic, and their own reserves, A Servant using their Noble Phantasm should burn at least 200-300 MU, which obviusly will be paid from their own reserves rather than from their Master's one's (Casters and Assassins are much varied in their Noble Phantasms, so it's far harder to say).
By choosing the Mana-gems you will have to pay less for the upkeep of a Servant, roughly by half, but you can also upgrade a Servant's Parameters with them.
(I'll make clear that the Mana-gems will upgrade Parameters no matter what, but you can sacrifice some upkeep for upgrading their Parameters some more. There is bound to be limits, of course, but in general a class like say, Caster, could be upgraded to have a C-B in strenght, while still paying the same amount of Mana than usual, the problem will be make sure that they are actually able to use that strenght, as Casters aren't known for being frontline fighters).
If you choose the Magic Crest, your reserves should be upgraded by 50-80 MU extra, with the perk of having the knowledge that resides within the Crest (If your Circuit Quality had reached a higher rank, this Magic Crast would also been affected).
...
And that should be everything... I'll will edit if I forget something!
PD: So, does anyone has any opinions about this system? It's the first time I do something like this, so I would like some opinions about it!
I hear a voice, a voice which promises ruin and suffering for my poor self.
…But sadly, I can feel that malign presence already has gotten too close to my position for me to hide.
Without other options, I turn to the voice's direction, ready to face my fate, even if I only see darkness in that future.
"There you are Senpai~!"
There she is, with her devilish smile, in all her purple glory.
Sakura Matou.
A (Rather well endowed) Kouhai of mine,
"Ehehehe~ were you waiting for me, Senpai~? Such a shameless Senpai I have!"
…And a sadist without any shred of mercy for my poor soul.
Without any options, I smile, and say my piece—
…
[] "—But of course, Sakura-chan~" (You have done this many times in the past, today is no different. If she wants it that way, then so be it!)
[]"—Absolutely no" (You must maintain your composure; you shall not fall to her level. You have resisted for years, and you will keep doing it until she surrenders in this verbal duel you play fight…!)
…
"—Is that so?" she cutely tilts her head to the side "But Senpai, look how late it is! Even my archery practice ended fifteen minutes ago!" She throws her arms over her head in an exaggerated way. "Senpai… don't tell me that you are doing something indecent!?" covering her mouth with one hand, feigning shock, she then points her other one's finger towards me, with an accusing intention.
…I cannot deny the statement that it is, indeed, really late, almost suspiciously so.
With my Kouhai looking at me with suspicion, I have no other choice but to concede defeat.
"I… may have fallen asleep in my seat." I scratch the back of my head in shame.
"Oh?" She stops her accusing glare, but now her eyes are full of mischief.
I'm not sure which is worse.
"Senpai~! You dummy! Don't you know that school is not for sleeping~?" She then adopts haughty expression, completed by a pose that reeks of smugness, and starts a lecture about 'the importance of respecting your school, your teachers and to listening and obeying your beautiful Kouhai~'…
'I'm completely sure that the last one isn't going to appear in any class about Law or Ethics—'
"Ehehehe~ you are so easy to tease, Senpai~!"
…refraining myself from answering that comment, I limited myself to only adopting a dirty look and sending it towards her.
And thus, here I am, asking myself how did I managed to become a friend of 'Honomura's Purple Devil"
(—It was when I was a 9 year-old during primary, I saw a purple-haired girl lording over a bunch of kids of my age (now I know it was because she promised to give them a 'reward' for that), and I was curious.
And thus, with the infinite wisdom of a 9 year-old kid, I decided to go there and ask about what was the girl with weird hair-color doing…
Long story short, she managed to cheat me into doing her biding for quite a while, and when she asked why do I decided to come back to her after yesterdays 'adventure' while the other kids learned their lesson, the only thing my 9 year-old self could answer with was—
"I believe in your inner goodness, because girls with cool anime hair can't be evil!"…
While my answer wasn't nearly as cool as I thought it sounded (And she made that very clear with her subsequent laughing fit), she saw me as someone interesting enough to keep her close.
And in the end I did learned my lesson… Late, but I did.)
"…Hey, Senpai?"
Realizing that I had let myself be lost in my thoughts, I moved my head to look at Sakura, which now was looking nervous, a rather rare expression for her.
"I need to ask you something…"
There was something about her tone that made me aware about the theme she was about to ask.
…
[]"—Do you know about the Holy Grail War?" (I revealed myself as a Magus to Sakura years ago; there was no way that she wouldn't ask me that question now that the eve of the conflict was so close.)
[]"—Have you noticed any strange things lately?" (I decided years ago to not tell Sakura about my lineage, it was simply too risky. Her family was one of the three founding houses, so even if she didn't want to fight me, she will have to for the honor of the Matou bloodline.)
…
After me and Sakura parted ways, I went straight home.
It was now or never.
I reached my lonely home when the sun had already set and the moon had now taken it's place.
It was a fairly big house, if I could say so myself.
It was in the more rural parts of the city, where the urbanization was still light.
It was a fairly western influenced house in design. It had 2 floors, at least 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 1 kitchen and a living room.
It came equipped with a basement, something simple, just five cubic meters perfectly square, which would be perfect for the kind of thing I was about to do.
There was a small staircase to the basement in one of corners of the living room.
Thus, mentally readying myself for the act, I descended into the darkness of the basement.
The only light in the silent room was a tiny window which allowed the moonlight to enter, there I was able to see it—
It was a summoning circle.
I reached for a nearby table at my side, in the northern wall.
There lay Jewels, finely crafted and filled with Mana; those would have been worth a fortune to my father if they had come in the same state as they were now, filled with almost 20 years worth of Mana.
They would now be used for a single propose.
I took a deep breath, now of all times, asking myself if I was truly capable of going along with this.
I still had time to go to the church, to yield my clams as a Master, to take the safest choice, to— Trait Interrupt! Survivors Will!
Die in a miserable and pathetic way, with me bedridden at the tender age of twenty-two years-old, and with my consciousness slowly fading until there was nothing, just a brain dead corpse of a miserable man that was never able to live his life because he cowed when his chance to survive was right in front of his eyes.
NO!
I refuse to die that way! I want to live!
I want to see what life has to offer! I don't want to end like that!
I want to be able to age! I don't want to die!
...And my fight for my right to live— Even if everything is against me!—
Begins now! I WILL SURVIVE!
Fill, fill, fill, fill, fill! My mouth Started moving.
Repeat Five times. But destroy each when filled. 'Please, anyone— Let the silver and steel be the base. I ask for a Hero to come in my aid Let the stone and the archduke of contracts be the foundation. My wish is to 'Live' The ancestor is my great master, Schweinorg. Is there somebody?— Let us build a wall against the wind that shall fall. That can hear my plea? The gates in four directions close. If its that so—! Form the Crown, come forth, and follow the three-forked road that lead to the Kingdom Then I ask of you to lend me your power!'
Then I propose.
Through your body, I embody Will
Through my body, you embody Fate Abiding by the call of the Holy Grail,
If you choose to abide by this Fate, this Will, Then answer!
Hereby I swear,
I will become all the good in this world
I will slain all the evil in this world
From the seventh heaven, heed my call and come forth,
O', Keeper Of Balance!
A blinding light forced me to close my eyes, as it illuminated every corner of the room...
Once my eyes were open, I inmediately noticed a Figure in the middle of the Summoning Circle, basking in the moonlight that came from a tiny window close to me...
...
[] A man covered in a red cloak... (So I'm a Caster this time around, huh...?) [] A doll... (My Lord...)
[] A woman with white hair and red eyes... (This is my Master...)
...
The Figure stepped in front of me, and with all the dignity worthy of an [Heroic Spirit], the figure made a question for me to answer.
"I ask of you,— Sword or Death.
Are you my Master?"
My hearth felt like it was about to explode, I could feel the Od leaving my body... Which power do you hold in your hands? I took a step foward, and made my answer known—
"Yes, I am your master" Dancing Flames, Decaying Earth, Withering Ocean ...
And thus, The Holy Grail War welcomes a new participant for the right of making their wish come true...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And we begin!
...
This took me longer than expected, I'm feeling satisfied with the result.
I didn't went into much detai abour the residence because it was too much of a bother, maybe I'll do it later.
By the way, please vote using plan format, it makes the counting easier.
but thanks to her robotic body and integrated weaponry Danzou is pretty far up in combat strength as far as Assassins go. Add in stat enhancements from the gems and she should at least be able to hold her own in open combat somewhat.
And you are also forgetting about the cultural sphere, which sould boost one or two of her Parameters.
Huh, now that we've started speaking about the gems...
Rules:
Taking Danzo as an example, her Parameters by being summoned in Japan should be along these lines:
Strength: D --> C-
Endurance: D --> D+
Agility: A --> A+
Mana: C --> B
Luck: B --> B+
NP: C
Each Parameter above D is counted by ten, For example--
If E Rank Parameter were to be 5 times the Normal Human Limits (NHL), This including the magically enchanced human/Magi; then a D Rank Parameter would be 10 times above the NHL, but a C Rank would be 20 times above that.
With the power of the Jewels, you will have 20 points to spend, but it can only be spend in quantities of 5 points per upgrade.
Five points into a Parameter will upgrade it by a +, and with Ten points it will go up to a full Rank Up.
An - Rank can be stabilized into a normal Rank with the use of these points
Every stat minus the NP ones can be upgraded.
Once more with the Danzo example with the 20 points mentioned:
Strength: C- --> C
Endurance: D+ --> C
Agility: A+ --> A++
Mana: B
Luck: B+ --> A
NP: C
...
And that's all you need to know about the Jewelry you just obtained!
PD: You know, I'm starting to believe that I kinda made the Jewels a little bit OP...
...
Meh, whatever, too late to change it.
The Figure, a man covered in a red cloak, seemed pleased with my answer.
"Very well then," he spoke, his voice was on the deep side of the scale, and for some reason I could imagine him smooth talking to girls with ease "Our Contract has been sealed. I am Servant Caster, answering your summoning."
The moment those words left his lips, I could feel how a bond between us was made; at the same time, I could feel how his sole existence started eating my Mana away—
But it also brought me out of my shock, and that was when I could get a good look at him. Trait discovered! Perceptive Perception : 4d6+1d6 VS DC 8/12/18/24 = 24
He was a tall man, taller than me by a little more than a head; his hair was a silvery white, which was combed back in a way that let his forehead in display, his hair also contrasted with his tanned skin and his steel colored eyes.
He was, by all accords, a really handsome man, his facial features betrayed Asian origins, Japanese even. His face was on the square side of the scale, and going by his looks he couldn't be older than thirty, forty at most.
Below his red cloak laid a skin-tight suit, which I believe should be far stronger that it looks.
"—Master?" He called to out me, and that was when I realized that I had been staring at him for quite a while.
"Sorry." I apologized, that was probably rather rude of my part.
Clearing my throat, I decide on introducing myself to Caster.
"My name is Hakuno Kishinami, and as I said, I am your Master"
Caster did a quick nod, "It is my pleasure to meet you, Master"
Being called 'Master' like that... "Just Hakuno is fine, Caster"
…It was then when I realized that I was forgetting something important.
"Caster, what is your True Name?"
Caster then looked straight at my face, and—
...He started scratching the back of his head awkwardly?
"Yeah Master, about that... I don't have one."
...
'Eh?'
'Eeeeh!?'
"What do you mean you don't have one!?"
[Heroic Spirits], beings that left their mark in human history and which legends managed to last 'till this day, and which power is beyond anything a modern human could ever hope to match—
And you're telling me that I managed to get one that doesn't even have a name!?
Caster, to my surprise, was completely unfazed by my outburst, he almost seemed like he was expecting it, and to be fair, he might as well be.
He sighed once and then started speaking.
"—Master, I recommend you to take a moment to calm down before anything, and then we will be able to speak in a more organized manner."
Caster was right; I needed to calm down before I ended up doing or saying something that I could regret.
I took a deep breath, and sighed.
'This… isn't going as I planned…'
Of course I knew that the Grail War would take me by surprise, I was conscious of that fact, but this early, just when I summoned my Servant?
…My mind went back at the conversation I had with Sakura before coming home—
…
"—Do you know about the Holy Grail War?"
This is it.
I knew that sooner or later she would ask me that question, and I only have one answer for her.
"…Yes, yes I do."
She was Sakura, someone which I had always been honest with, despite her many issues.
If it was going to be this way, then so be it.
I looked straight into her eyes as I undid the bandages around my hand; in her eyes were emotions like curiosity at first, then worry and finally—
"—In fact," as I the bandages fell from my hand, the faint glow of my Command Seals was now for all to see. "I'm a Master myself."
…After my proclamation, Sakura kept her gaze at my eyes; there was understanding, frustration, worry, and finally, acceptance.
"…Hakuno." If this were any other situation, and me any other Japanese young man, the idea of my undeniably gorgeous childhood friend saying my name without any honorifics would indeed be considered a glorious moment, one worthy of being remembered.
...I had the suspicion that the 'remembered' part would become true.
"—Do you have any idea of what happens in a Holy Grail War?" She didn't wait for my reply before continuing "People die, Hakuno. The Masters are always at risk of being killed by an Assassin, that their Servants die in battle and they become at the mercy of other Master, those don't end well, and even if the victorious Master has a tiny sense of morality, which is rare, they are still a target for other Masters by the sheer fact that they are Magi, and Magi are dicks, Hakuno."
She removed one of her white gloves; one's that she always wears since she was 12 years-old; it was a gift from my 13 year-old self for her birthday…
('Ufufufu, you dummy Senpai~, I'm a princess after all! And a princess can't let her hands get dirty by dealing with the dirty peasants, after all!'
I know that she just changes those each time they become tiny, but I think I made a mistake for allowing those gloves to ever reach her hands.)
--Behind that glove, there was a glowing red mark in her hand.
A Command Seal.
"—As you can see, I am a Master too," Her tone was a cold one. "Thus, if you decide to participate in the Grail War, you and I will be enemies, please tell me that you are not considering the stupid idea of fighting in the War, Hakuno, you are better than this!"
Her tone took a harsh turn, "The Holy Grail War is what it sells. A War, Hakuno. You haven't killed anyone in your life, are you even capable of doing so!?"
Her question, while clearly intended to demoralize me of fighting, had a very good point.
Killing.
Could I force myself to do that? To take another person's life? All for extending mine? Trait Interrupt! Survivors Will.
"…Yes, yes I could," I manage to spell out, surprising Sakura and even myself with my resolution. "And yes, if I have to, I will"
"…Very well then," Sakura starts speaking, her eyes locked with mine, "If you truly wish the grail, then I shall make you a proposition."
"—I shall allow you to help me in my way to win the Grail, and once the battle against the rest of the Masters ends; we will duel with our Servants for the right to hold the Holy Grail."
The ways she speaks is reminiscent of the way an aristocrat would talk towards a dumb and poor peasant—
…But I can only guess what she must be feeling right now; her best friend since childhood is now, for some reason she doesn't know, willing to participate in a murderous tournament, with not only the possibility to die, but also perfectly willing to kill as well—
And both of us will inevitably clash sooner or later.
"—And well?" Sakura was still waiting for an answer. "Will you join me in this War, Hakuno?"
…
[X]I accept.
[] I refuse.
…
"…Very well." And with that, the Fate of our relationship in this Holy Grail War has been decided.
"…But please," she talks to me one last time before going her own way. "Allow me to ask you this—"
Why? Why do you want to get out of this Grail War?—
What is your wish, Hakuno Kishinami!?"
…At that question,
…What is my answer?...
[X] I told her about me… and about my illness.
[] …I stayed silent, and went home.
…
"—Master?"
I'm brought back to reality by Caster's voice, he looks worried…
"It's nothing, just thinking."
Caster doesn't looks convinced, but nods all the same.
I'm far calmer now.
…I guess it's time for me to see my Servant Parameters.
What I see is—
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Choose where to locate you Jewel points, you have twenty.
A man looked through the window; the man in question had facial features that could be called 'handsome', and he didn't look a day over twenty.
In his hand there were three glowing marks, Command Seals.
"—Fiore," the man called towards the only other 'person' in the room. "Come here."
A girl, now identified as 'Fiore', approached him, the sound of the wheels in her wheelchair made an echo through the room."—Yes, Grandfather?"
She was no older than 19 years-old, and her features betrayed gentleness, in contrast with the man, whose features, while beautiful, only betrayed coldness.
Thus, it was a strange image for anyone the idea that two people, not only physically but mentally, could be related.
"The Holy Grail War has begun, Fiore," said the man. "And you, as I have, been chosen to fight in it." It wasn't a question, it was a statement.
The girl looked at her right hand, where indeed, there were three, faintly glowing, Command Seals.
"—You will go to Japan," once again, a statement, not a question, "And you will achieve victory for our household, am I making myself clear?"
"—Yes, Grandfather."
"Very well," The man continued "Everything is prepared for your summoning, I personally handpicked the catalyst."
"—I'm grateful, Grandfather"
"—One more thing," the man said "You will be supported by Schepper's doll, I am hopeful that you will be useful in our victory with all this support"
"—I hope so, Grandfather"
The man nodded at this, "You can retreat now"
And with that, the 'conversation', if it could be called as such, was over, and Fiore retreated back into the castle.
And thus, the man was left alone once more.
'70 Years…' The man thought to himself. 'It has been 70 years, and now, finally…'
70 Years, which would be roughly the same time that the 3rd incarnation of the Holy Grail War happened
Which would mean that this man, who didn't appeared a day over his thirties, had participated in a conflict that coincided with the Second World War.
Thus, this man, Darnic Prestone Yggmillenia, was now going to set foot in a Holy Grail War once more.
'And this time…! This time there isn't any doll, worm or hero to stop me!'
…
In another room of the castle, there was sounds of voices coming from inside.
"—Ah! Thank you!"
It was the voice of Fiore, and the 'person' whom she was talking to—
"It was nothing, Lady Forvedge; let's just keep packing up your belongings"
It was a doll.
There were many other ways to call 'him'.—
Puppet.
Toy.
Homunculi.
But for now, 'Doll' should suffice.
"But still, you are helping me, thanking you is the least I can do…"
"Then why not thank my creator for making me?" Suggested the doll
"Ah, but I don't think Lord Brenger has any time for me to do that, besides, if I only thanked him for that, then I would have done that many times already!"
"Is that so?" The doll tilted his head to the side, confused.
"Yes, you have been the most helpful in the time you have been here, so if I did that every time you are even the sightless helpful, then I would be bothering him all day!"
"Really…" The doll seemed to understand what she was saying.
"So please, accept my thanks, even if it's only in your creator's name."
The doll then nodded his head, "Alright then, Lady Forvedge, I understand you're reasoning, so I accept your gratitude!"
"Great! Ah! But, please, 'Lady Forvedge' is way too much, just call me Fiore, is that clear—
