This is the world of war and conquest, where the weak are mercilessly culled, a realm of never-ending conflict between the forces of light and the unyielding tide of darkness that threatens the very foundation of all this is good and divine.
It is the world where warriors of all races banded together in a desperate struggle for survival. Generations upon generations of mighty warriors, powerful wizards and cunning rogues stood their ground, killing and dying, their prayers falling on deaf ears of unloving gods.
At least, this is what it used to be if the legends are to be believed.
The war against the demonic forces came to an end many centuries ago: a band of unnamed heroes defeated the demon king, putting an end to this page of history, ushering a new era of peace and prosperity. The world moved on, leaving all the suffering and sorrow in the past.
Nowadays, one can live their life enjoying if not comfort, then the pleasant uneventfulness of passing days. An ordinary farmer can keep farming, an ordinary soldier can keep soldiering on, and an ordinary ruler can keep ruling (provided their heads still remain attached to their necks).
Bored youths leave their village, becoming adventurers in search of riches and fame, often ending up as unwashed drunks peacefully sleeping the night away in some dark alleyway behind a murky tavern. Novice wizards are more preoccupied with convincing their peers that they are the smartest person in a room filled with people who themselves believe the very same thing. As for the rogues… they happen to be rather busy people.
Life moves on.
But there is something bubbling underneath the surface. The monsters grow restless, the demons keep appearing here and there, and the hearts of kings and lords grow as heavy as their gold-filled treasuries. The ancient evil is waiting for the right moment to strike.
This is where you come in.
You're a hero, and everyone likes heroes. And why wouldn't they? Heroes are good! They save people and fight evil people and do all kinds of heroic things.
People like heroes so much, in fact, that they would make songs and write stories about them, and that's nice. It's very nice to be loved, after all.
Plus, heroes receive all kinds of great stuff from the people they rescue, and having lots of great stuff is very nice, too. From where I stand, being a hero is exclusively beneficial… which is why I'm making you an offer.
See, normally, becoming a hero requires a lot of effort, which is not very fun. For this reason, my people have developed Class Cards that allow you to borrow all the effort and power and skills from heroes of the past, instead of wasting your time training and building character and other nuisances. And it's not like all those heroes need that stuff: most of them are dead anyway!
So, here is the pitch. We at Chaldea Corporation are going to provide you with an authentic hero experience. There's a world out there in a dire need of saving, and that's where you come in. Grab a Class Card, jump head-on into this mystic realm and become the hero you always wanted to be, free of charge!
All we are asking is some test information to enhance the experience even further, and maybe some treasure in exchange for more… benefits to help you gain an edge over everyone else. This is not mandatory, of course.
Well, do we have a deal, my friend?
