Fate/In Glory Of (Worm)

Meadows Anders.

What if it's not her middle name? Brad Meadows is the cape Hookwolf of the E88. And Anders is the family name of Max Anders, Kaiser, leader of the E88. So while the two of them probably wouldn't be co-parenting a child together while in a partnership, Max does have a sister. I don't think she was ever given a name in canon worm, but her cape name was Iron Rain.

Johanna, a very central European name, Meadows-Anders, daughter of Brad Meadows, chief enforcer of the e88, and Iron Rain, sister of, or possibly is, the leader of the e88. That would also explain why she has a joint family name, they get to pay homage to 'family values' by taking the husband's name, but also keep the prestige and authority of the Ander name.

[X] After hours school

It took the better part of an hour to get back to the school.

Taylor immediately ran into a problem; the front doors were locked. She stared at the doors for a solid few seconds before sighing and beginning to walk around the building, hoping that the custodian forgot to lock one of them.

Amusingly, if this had been at Winslow, then it would have been a non-issue; all the doors' locks had long since been broken.

Much like the first door, all the others were locked. Admittedly, Taylor hadn't been able to make a complete circuit around the school, as a high chain-link fence blocked off the sports fields. It was possible there were some unlocked entry way if she could get past it.

Normally this would be where someone would give up and go home, or, try scaling the fence. Taylor, however, had access to a parahuman power. A very petty and bland usage of it, but she could do it. It helped that it was dark out this early in the evening and her power blended in with the darkness to a certain degree. The roof access probably wasn't locked, failing that, the giant could break a door lock with ease, though that would be highly visible. Then again, the roof probably wasn't built to withstand more than half a ton of weight landing on it…

Alternatively she could try scaling the fence. Might need the giant's help.

Or just go home. No need to use her power in that instance.

[] Break a lock
[] Get to the roof via Giant
[] Try scaling the fence
[] Give up – Go home

Author's note: What Taylor should be doing is trying to reach out to a custodian but she doesn't know that given how little time she tried to spend in Winslow as humanely possible.

Short chapter, please vote and discuss- there are different outcomes for each.

[X] Get to the roof via Giant

Taylor threw out the idea of scaling the fence pretty quickly.

It was the most likely to run into other people, and there would be questions given she was coming from the outside. Then there was the idea of having her giant just break the lock. No one would know that she had done it…

...but, she was pretty sure the giant had zero finesse to him and it would quite clearly be some kind of cape crime that occurred at the school. No need to draw unwanted attention that way, no thank you!

Nor was she going to go home, given she was already at the school.

She eyed the roof, a good four stories up there.

Luckily with it being winter, no one would question having her hood up, or her hair hidden under her hat. It wasn't like she wore anything distinctive like Nikki's bright colours, so even if someone saw her using her power, no one would know it was her.

A few minutes later, she had found a blocked off section, where the school's structure blocked the view from outside the campus from seeing her.

Taylor took a deep breath.

A tensing of the phantom limb and the giant was there.

Anxiety she didn't know she had melted away.

"Please carry me to the roof of this building. Without damaging it."

The giant knelt before her, lowering an arm, palm up. It was big enough for Taylor to sit in. After a moment of dithering she sat on the palm- only to let out a squeak of alarm as he shifted her to his shoulder.

The moment she had gotten a good grip on him, the ground became a distant thing.

Lungs felt like they were being pulled through her stomach before they came to a stop a yard or so above the roof.

It was with a relatively quiet sound that they landed and the giant gently placed Taylor back on her own two feet before disappearing in a cascade of blue motes as she untensed the unseen muscle.

She blinked.

Huh, I wasn't expecting that to work.

More than that, it was kind of fun!

It was with a light step that she went over to the roof access door which she found to be unlocked.

Her good luck continued all the way to her locker, though, it dimmed slightly at finding a cockroach sitting on the textbook. It took a little while to get the stubborn pest off the book.

Other than that, she left the school without issue; the doors unlocking from the inside for after school club students.

Where her luck took a turn for the worst was on the bus ride home.

A loud thud startled everyone as the bus' roof sagged.

Bright beams of light rocketed against the road nearby, rattling the bus, cracking the windows closest to them.

Taylor barely got to glance out of the window in time to see shards of ice speed by singing as they crossed the road heading towards the source of the light. Said shards abruptly twisted in midair, slamming into a tree as another floating figure joined the source of the light beams above the road – one painful to even look at and the other a figure wearing a speckled blue bodysuit.

She craned her head in the other direction.

Three large shapes were all she could glimpse at in the inky darkness of evening before a wall of ice formed.

There was a thrum in her head to get involved, that this would be the perfect opportunity to see what the giant could do in a direct conflict.

She was pretty sure she could whisper some commands to him before she materialized him, even.

[] Act
-[] Stop the fleeing parahumans [Ice group]
-[] Drive off the attacking parahumans [Light group]
[] Don't Act [QA will remember this]

Author's Note: So, just to be sure, What this vote really is, is Act vs Don't Act. If Act wins, then it will be on whose side Taylor will try and send the giant after. As per the vote for her to stay hidden, she'll try and do this as subtly as possible.

Wait a minute Taylor doesn't have a costume yet! What if the parahumans notice her?

I don't recognize the ice guys, no relation to nice guy I'm sure, but reckless laser usage could have hurt the bystanders!

That said, there's enough context clues I think to figure things out. Though I will spoiler it because i think meta knowledge like this makes for a less fun story, and make it more like trying to optimize a game.

The laser user is either a member of New Wave or Purity, context: lasers and a bright light around them it hurt to look at, the secnd being heavily Purity's gimmick. The fleeing group is most likely the Undersiders, who ride three large dog-like monsters/monster-like dogs.
